What's new

Mohammad Amir no longer an automatic pick in ODIs?

Good show by amir after coming back from an injury. Needs to continue the trend of picking up wickets.

I always loved Amir but it seems like he is not any more passion for International cricket. Management should release him early for PSL preparation. Pity that he missed BPL too. Time for look someone else.

we should move on from amir.
this is not the same amir
running in hard with passion, with his full strength .
when he bowls now days it look like someone is forcing him to bowl.

For me the more damning facts are not those stats at all. Since that CT final, there has been talk of managing Aamir's workload. What workload though? He has played only 11 out of 26 ODI's and 8 out of 13 tests(skipped all 5 in UAE conditons) and still can't sustain pace(bowling late 120's, early 130's) or take wickets in ODI's . Is he really worth wrapping up in cotton wool since he is not that good a strike bowler anyway? You wanna manage a bowler's workload, do that for Hasan instead. The guy has been bowling non stop and still bowls upto 90 mph. A rest would do him a world of good.

There is a reason for that. Have you seen him deliver the ball? It doesn't have upright seam, as it used to be when he bowled at the age of 18-19 before ban.

Also, Asif said something that he should deliver bowl close to the stumps, to swing it back in. He sometimes provide more width to batsmen, or stray too much on leg side. He needs to pitch it on middle stump while he bowls over the wicket. And use the same to slant across batsmen or straighten it for LBW

Clearly, our coach has proved no good to him, or any of our fast bowlers. Azhar has been the worst thing that happened to our fast bowling. Wasim would prove to be better with these kids. Shaheen still has wobbly seam, as if he hasn't worked on it at all.

This Azhar Mehmood guy, focuses more on line and length, rather than teaching skills to these bowlers which could then help them pick wickets

this doesn't mean coaches don't what you are saying are did not told him to do so,
amir is enemy of himself.
he doesn't want to learn. he does not want to put effort

Don’t think we’ll see him post World cup. Sad how he looks nothing like the bowler he was pre 2010 but then some would argue this is karma for betraying his country in 2010.
