Both reached their 50 test wickets milestone in 14th match and has the similar average at that point around 29. Irfan pathan got to his 100 wickets in his 29th match at an average of 32.26 and that was his last test match and he was only around 24 years of age at that time.

Amir has played 30 test matches and has 95 wickets at an average of 32.87 , since his return he has taken 44 test wickets at an average of 37.25 at a strike rate of 80.

Irfan also a better sportsman. May be harsh but it is true.

Amir's stock has really fallen to lowest levels now that he is being compared to " Has beens ".

Amir and Irfan Pathan are different animals.

Amir came as a lot more raw - more pace, more mercurial swing. If he could channel it all, and he still has the time and the potential, he can become something special.

No matter what anyone says, Irfan was a great bowler in his younger years. In that series in Pakistan, he was the main threat with the new ball. Consistently swung it, and got early wickets. Its sad that he became another victim of the Indian bowler syndrome.

With relation to that...recently spoke to someone who has close ties to a member of the current Indian set-up. The problem where bowlers come in, and then fall away is not something they are unaware of. Its one of the big pushes behind the fitness regime they have in place. England series in 2014, where they took the lead was apparently key turning point. Big portion of the blame on that is attributed to bowlers, as well as general team's fitness levels not lasting the course over a 5 test series.

Irfan had the potential to be India best A/R after Kapil. Unfortunately poor work ethic/ fitness killed his career. Amir still has a lots of time to develop into great bowler. Next Wasim Akram tag tends to career killer for most Asian Left Armers. Wasim was once in lifetime talent. Amir's fans needs to realize that.
