Lahore December 8, 2017: Mohammad Hafeez is traveling to England in the middle of next week to have his bowling action assessed under Dr. Paul Hurrion, Bio mechanist expert and Carl Crowe, bowling coach who has worked successfully with Sunil Naraine. Azher Mahmood, our national team’s bowling coach, who is already in England, would be present during the assessment of Hafeez’s bowling action.

After the assessment both the experts would devise a remedial work action plan that would be handed over to Azher Mahmood for implementation in Pakistan. Azher Mahmood and IBARC comprising of Ali Zia, Sajjad Akber, Salim Jaffer and Aleem Dar would then work with Mohammad Hafeez under the guidelines given by the Paul and Carl for correctness of his bowling action. The committee would also perform periodical testing at PCB Biomechanics lab at LUMS university in Lahore to make it sure that the bowling action of Hafeez is well within the allowable benchmarks before recommending that he may be sent for re-testing at any ICC accreditation biomechanics lab.

The above plan has been discussed with Mohammad Hafeez, who has agreed to follow it up after having gone through his initial assessment on his bowling action in England.

Such a shame. PAK doesn’t have a decent young offie and instead of focusing/investing on that PCB is spending millions on this guy with no future. And, this has become a regular line item in PCB’s accounts.

PCB is filled with idiots.

Hafeez is smart.

So Pakistan fans should suffer.

The whole exercise is so pointless.

I mean if Misbah can play till 44 years of age with zero performance why hate on Hafeez for trying to do the same.

Just a waste of resouces that could be better utilised elsewhere.Hafeez should just retire with the little respect he has left.

I find it shocking there are human beings who will defend this move, it just makes me sick

Misbah retired move on bro. Most people wanted Misbah to retire after the England series but he didn't.

You make as though I defend everyone of Misbahs action which I never did.

Agree , Misbah started all this, now its hard to get rid of this kind of baggage . The guy is old, he always been a mediocre cricketer, banned a dozen time and PCB keep wasting money on him again.

Scary thought, but, you never know.

Don't be surprised if he playing till then. I am Misbah fan, but him and Younis have set a bad precedent. Every player in our domestic structure thinks as lot as your fit you can play till 40 regardless of form. Which shouldn't be the case.

Mohammad Hafeez visits England to undergo remedial work on his bowling

Karachi: Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez has once again flown to England to undergo remedial work on his bowling action after the ICC suspended him for having an illegal action.

After his bowling action was reported for the third time in October during the Pakistan and Sri Lanka ODI series, Hafeez went to England to take the ICC's bowling assessment test but failed to clear the biomechanics test, after which the ICC officially suspended him from bowling in international cricket for 12 months.

But in the latest development, the all-rounder has now once again flown to England, where he will work with biomechanic specialist Dr Paul Herron and bowling coach Carl Crowe.

"The specialists will study Hafeez's bowling action and put him through different unofficial tests and then suggest remedial measures, so that he can again take the ICC test to get clearance to bowl in international cricket once again," an official in the Pakistan Cricket Board said.

Sources said that the PCB had agreed to send Hafeez to England after some reluctance as the allrounder insisted he could correct his bowling action and take the ICC test again.

Hafeez, 37, was not satisfied with the bowling action review committee formed by the board to work on his bowling action and insisted on flying to England to get help from Crowe and Herron.

With the national selectors due to announce the squad for the upcoming tour to New Zealand on December 22 after fitness tests at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore, Hafeez is certain to be picked because of his batting abilities and experience.

Hafeez has so far played 50 Tests, 195 ODIs and 85 T20s, and also led Pakistan in the shortest format.

"Hafeez is certain to be picked because of his batting abilities and experience."

Trash batting ability and experience of failing doesn't help the team at all.

There is no better known commodity in world cricket than Mohammad Hafeez with a bat.

Is the bowling attack quality/ are bowling conditions good? Hafeez will fail with certainty.

Is the bowling attack rubbish/ is it a road? Hafeez will score enough to retain his spot.

We've been kept a prisoner to this oscillation for ages, used to be moderately alright because he brought balance with the ball, but we've got some talented allrounders and youngsters at the door now, move on with dignity Professor, you won plaudits for helping to lift the CT, why is it too much to go on a high? Selectors honestly need to get a grip and look to 2019. Only one of Malik/Hafeez should be in the picture and therefore, it should be Malik every.single.time.

He must have a video of the PCB staff doing something unspeakable for them to keep on selecting him even at 35+ ahead of well deserving players.

Don't understand the reason for Pakistan to spend so much time to remedy the action of a player who is in the fag end of his career. You don't even know if he will be effective after the change either. I feel this is a complete waste of time. it is better for Hafeez to play as just the batsman if he is good enough and retire.

Excellent stuff from the PCB to support Hafeez. They are doing the right thing to stand by their player which is what all boards should do.

Are you on the PCB payroll? Any PAK cricket fan can understand that this is a waste of money and time. Besides his 60 in the CT Final, what has he done of note in the last two years?

Hafeez provides us with guaranteed economical 10 overs and 4 overs in ODI's, T-20's with a bonus 1-2 wickets hence making our bowling attack even more potent and threatening. Yes his batting is inconsistent but he is one of our top attacking players and when he gets his eye in he cashes in.

Imad can also be economical.
The name of the game is to take wickets. Hafeez when he was not chucking to his hearts galore against SL took a grand total of 1 wicket in the CT. As far as his batting is concerened, he fires alright, the same way Wahab fires once in a blue moon. He made 2 ducks and failed to make 1 50 in the last PSL. That was on dry and spin friendly pitches which he should be accustomed to after playing for years in the UAE. How anyone can defend his batting, bowling, or abysmal fielding is beyond me.

I think he should start bowling with his left hand, so that he can defeat his muscle memory/tendency to cheat.
