What's new

Mohammad Rizwan signs for St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, and set to feature in CPL for the first time

Rizwan should have rested TBH. He is attracting too much attention and getting exposed again and again in T20s.

Should have waited for BBL

in 2020 Season he Had SR of 138. Third Highest Among Pakistani batters in top 20 List.
Yes, a SR of 138 is really groundbreaking. The opposition bowlers were having sleepless nights over him and fans were coming to the stadium with umbrellas so that they don’t get hit on the heads by all the sixes.

much better than paltry 124

Am not discrediting babar. He is the main factor as to why KK won.

But you are overestimating babar and ignoring how many low scores were produced for KK to reach and hence credit needs to be given to the bowling as well.

You are also over exaggerating by rating babar as the no 1 best psl player in history. Everyone knows it was KP during his QG stint by KP had an ego of not travelling to Pakistan and leaving QG to dry in the finals.
I am not saying that Babar is the number 1 player in PSL history. That is highly debatable.

What I am saying, and that is not debatable, is that Babar in PSL 2020 is the single greatest individual season in PSL history.

As far as who the GOAT PSL player is until now, there are several contenders, and he is one of them.

473 runs at an average of 59 and a SR of 124 is a million times better than 216 runs at an average of 21 and a SR of 138.

Not to mention Sharjeel failed in the final while Babar was Man of the Match.

Sharjeel never was and never will be good enough to lace Babar’s boots in any format of the game.

Fair enough

People have a habit of derailing the thread. Babar obsession has polluted the minds of many.

STAY ON TOPIC NOW (FOR ALL)
I would also say Babar Nonsense

"Babar Singlehandedly won KK the tournament in 2020"

come on! its this kind of rubbish and over-exaggeration that has destroyed his career in the first place. You put this guy on a pedestal where he simply cannot stand on, and then the disappointment is tenfold.

You can read right??? The thread is about rizwan in CPL... why are you engaging in irrelevant talk??

Mate you get a bit too touchy when it comes to Babar 🤣🤣. But for some reason you don't mind rizzu bashing lol.
Not being touchy... Not every thread is about babar... thread clearly mentions rizwan in CPL... talk about riz here and we are good..

It wasn’t about Babar, we were discussing Rizwan.

It was the Mamoon who brought Babar into the discussion with the KK nonsense

@Rana So when I shut all guys to not derail the thread with babar babar, you still wanna go down that route??? MOVE ON BRUH

Anyone watching this innings would realise why Rizwan had to go.

The team needs urgency and this guy just taking singles out there in the middle

Evin Lewis out there going after every ball

Rizwan not even trying to hit!

I checked the scorecard, 13.1 overs rizwan 22 of 21 :misbah .

Oh god
Lewis was 7 off 19

He then scored 23 off 11 straight after drinks because the team had a really poor first 10 overs

Rizwan throughout not even taking on his match up in the off spinner

CPL is a league where even crap players like Azam Khan can have dream runs? So what's rizzu's problem? This should be ideal for him lol.

Now out

Should have been out for 23 off 24. Got lucky with the catch on boundary six

Soft dismissal next ball

You need a power game in this league. I haven't watched much this year but in the past remember slow and stodgy wickets. Need batsmen who can really tonk it or muscle it. Rizwan aint that type of player, sixes are rare for him.

Players like Imad, Azam, Iftikhar and perhaps guys like Samad or Niazi could excel here. Saim also had a dream run, but he is a sweet timer of the ball when batting up the order. ( the pitches could have changed a lot since I last watched it properly though)

Forget power game,

How are you going to develop that without even trying to hit the ball? Rizwan intentionally doesn’t even try! Even when the run rate is rock bottom to get his team out of a hole! Both batters had to try and go hard but Rizwan intentionally was trying to just get Lewis back on strike! The guy who had to retire hurt first because of a hand injury and then came back for his team.

This is why I hate Rizwan! He intentionally does these things to hide with a little score whilst players around him are putting everything on the line for the team!

Icc t20 cricketer of the year

He is stuck in a loop. He wasn't a gifted batter to begin with anyways and he didn't use his good times to improve his batting.

These days when he needs to hit a ball out. He steps across and plants his foot forward while lower himself to slog sweep to leg side. Bowlers are intelligent now and all they do is vary their pace and Rizwan misses to time or connect the ball.

Single greatest individual season in PSL history is 450 odd runs at 124 in 12 odd matches? If true that says a lot about PSL

you know he scored runs when you dont see rana discuss his match

Don't you know that it's Rizwan's fault that the bowlers failed to bowl well? His runs will never matter because he's also supposed to defend the target.

10 off 3 (3 balls in the powerplay)

Then 25 off 20

Then 47 off 25

Then 61 off 41

Good innings from Rizzyman today. Though despite hitting 4 sixes. He couldn't get his SR above 146.

He scores runs. Look at his T20I average. Problem is his SR. That's why he's out of the T20I team.

Today also despite hitting 4 sixes he couldn't get SR above 146. If a Haris, Saim, Farhan, Hasan or Fakhar faces 40+ balls like this on this surface. Their SR is over 160 easily.

His game is to basically accumulate and wait for a bowler who he can hit 10 runs off 2 balls to up his sr. Otherwise he and Mayers had a 50 run partnership off 47 balls in the middle. They fell well behind and the run rate was 7 at the time. Then he hit Oshane Thomas for 16 off 3 balls. Thomas was hit for 33 in an over last game, the guy is mentally down and out.

Tbh, he is not even the worst batsman in this SKNP side. Evin Lewis and Kyle Mayers have been terrible. Jason Holder is carrying this side
Yeah that’s a fair comment

The team is in a shambles. They are going to get knocked out most likely with one more loss.

Plenty of players play run a ball. Many hitters do it. Even Hassan Nawaz at times is 16 off 16 or 20 off 20. But the point is, taking that many balls he catches up. 3 sixes in a row and SR is up to 180.

The problem with Rizwan in the format is that even after being 20 off 20. He can't go 38 off 23 and then maintain this high SR.

Read the pattern above. He’s always got 1, 2 or even 3 phases of run a ball or less than run a ball in his innings that he plays more than 40 balls.

His team score was chased down in 17 overs.

He scored a hundred for MS against KK, team scored 230 and was still chased down with an over to spare.

The guy will never score runs that matter the longer he remains at the crease. St Kitts won their only match with him in which he scored 2 off 7.

The longer he stays, the bigger the hazard he is to his own team.

Rizwan looked like his old self again, back in form after that rough patch in T20s. Classic Rizwan performance, scoring crucial runs while wickets were falling around him, doing it all when it mattered most. He was everywhere, pulled off a sharp stumping, took a clean catch behind the stumps that wasn’t given and surprisingly not reviewed (despite him being sure about it), helped with field placements, saved a couple of boundaries on the leg side from wide balls, and looked fired up and fully switched on throughout. No surprise he walked away with the Man of the Match award.

If only the Patriots had signed him earlier and opened with him from game one, they might’ve made the playoffs. Still, great to see him bounce back and win a game for his team.

Rizwan may be a limited batter. But he plays well under his limitations. Scoring with this consistency is never easy. It's just that he doesn't fit the Pakistani t20 lineup in current age where we have a lot of similar batters like him.
But I'd like him to be challenged to add to his game and play at no.s he's not accustomed to.
In ODIs, he needs to find himself to bat lower than no.4 for betterment of Pak team.
In test, he's still crucial to our team at no.6 or 7

Good performance. Do you know why Kevin Lewis wasn't playing?

Good innings today. But I want to see him bat at more than 130s SR and better if he bats down the order than as an opener.

Run scoring again I will say was not the problem for Rizwan's ousting from the team. It was strike rate.

Mohammad Rizwan anchored the Patriots’ innings with a classy 85 off 62 balls, earning Player of the Match despite a late run-out vs GAW

Naseem also bowled a fantastic final over to help his team win. Always nice to see Pakistani players making an impact in these T20 leagues.

People wanted him to fail I am sure but while useless Haris is failing , Rizwan got a MOTM in the CPL which is still arguably better quality than the all the teams we have faced recently in all the series Haris has failed in

No it's very low quality league man try to watch it one day and you will fall asleep.

Always remember we got Azam Khan on the back of CPL performances before. I will not read much into any Pakistani player performance in this league.

Rizwan needs to hold on to his ODI and test caps as he's much needed in that space.

I’ve watched a few CPL games here and there, and batting in the Caribbean isn’t that easy. Most matches are moderate scoring usually around 170. I can’t fully comment on the overall quality of bowling, but the game where Rizwan scored 85 off 62 was definitely played on a tough pitch. There’s a reason why, after Rizwan, the next highest scorer from both teams was Shai Hope with just 31 off 27. I watched that match, some balls were keeping low, and Imran Tahir along with Hassan Khan bowled really well.

Rizwan, despite his limitations, has one special quality that many players don’t, he reads pitch conditions very well and adjusts his game accordingly. That’s exactly what he did, and it turned into a fantastic innings.
