Situation is getting worse day by day. Our society is need of serious revamping.

A group of men raped a woman and held her husband hostage to watch in Sheikhupura, the police said on Friday.

The police have taken some unidentified men into custody. The number of arrests is unclear at this point.

This is the second gang rape being reported from Punjab in less than two weeks. On September 9, a gang rape in Gujjarpura of a woman enraged the whole country. The woman was raped in front of her children by two unidentified men on the Lahore-Sialkot motorway. She was driving to Gujranwala when she ran out of fuel near Lahore’s Gujjarpura.

Sheikhupura DPO Ghazi Salahuddin said Ferozewala police has registered a case and started investigating the Sheikhupura gang rape.

He said a man promised to find the couple a job as a masseur and tricked them into coming with him to his village and took them to Kala Shah Kaku town in Sheikhupura while the couple was sitting outside Lahore’s Minar-e-Pakistan.

The couple are residents of Toba Tek Singh. They worked at people’s homes in Rawalpindi. They had come to Lahore in search of work. After running out of money for transport, the couple was sitting outside the Minar when they met the unidentified suspect who tricked them.

He took the couple with two other accomplices on a motorcycle. The rape survivor told the police that they raped her in front of her husband.

The woman’s medical test has been conducted and her DNA samples have been collected by the Punjab Forensic Science Agency, said the Sheikhupura DPO.

Forget the fake liberals, put these evil people on TV and hang them prime time.

Will defo be a detterent to some if not all.

Just saying if a rapist know's that he'll be hanged wouldn't he kill his victims because if there is no one to testify about who did it he wont be caught and he'll be saved

But for 8 year sentence he probably wont risk a "death sentence" by killing his victim

food for thought...

Some rape and child abuse cases in the last 7 days.

-Boy,5, raped then hanged to death with a tree in Balouchistan

-Girl,9, raped by shopkeeper after going to buy stationery

- Woman gang raped in her home by a group of men. This was the second time she was gang raped by the same men

- Daughter raped by father in Muzzafargarh

- Girl, 2.5, raped then killed with a farming tool in KP

These are just a few of the reported cases. According to experts, majority of cases are not even reported. According to the NGO WAR, a women is raped in Pakistan every 2 hours.

Punjab is still a very tribal and lawless society due to it's rural nature. I would recommend Sharia punishment to suit the mentality of these dogs. It is the only way to get through to them.

There were many ills but rapes were not as prevalent. Consumption of porn is ruining our society. We are only just starting to see the consequence and I shudder to think where it will lead us.

They way normal men would stare at any women on the street, it was raping with the eyes, one step removed from the actual act of rape. This was as early as the 80’s

Never have I seen such disgusting behaviour from men in general and I’ve touchwood been fortunate enough to travel to many places.

The Islamic Republic of Pakistan ladies and gentlemen.

Rape happens on every inch of the planet where humans reside.

Don't understand your point. Rape will vanish the moment a republic becomes Islamic?

Pakistan is perceived to have a rape problem simply because it is reported in the news and made headline stories.

There are 85000 rapes on average in the UK each year. 400,000 in the USA, 500,000 in South Africa.

Ever heard it in the news or protests taking place?

Rape can never be eradicated just like other crimes. Primary focus should be to punish the culprits and give justice.

Why all of a sudden so much Rape news is coming out of Pakistan all of a sudden? Is it because under Imran Khan, they are reported more?

Self defense and carrying a pepper spray or a firearm can save a few from the animals too.

Reported more on news and the popularity of Social media. Nothing has changed.

Same with India.

Theres a perception that these countries have a rape problem.

There is a massive difference. People claim that Pakistan is the fortress of Islam and that Pakistanis are the best Muslims. Everybody acts so righteous and virtuous and all of them carry religion on their sleeves. Yet, you see these sort of heinous incidents happening every day!Why all this hypocrisy?

Also, protests should happen even more because when women in Pakistan get raped, they are blamed for the crime. Victim-blaming is rampant. Many Pakistanis hold the view that women are responsible for this heinous crime.

A women is raped every 2 hours in Pakistan. However, the majority of cases are not reported due to the stigma attached to victims to rape and the honor culture that is so prevalent in Pakistan.

The actual number of rape cases runs in the hundreds of thousands!

Also, conviction rate for rape is less than 5% so protest is fully justifiable.

Pakistan has no problems. They all conspiracies. Pakistan is a beacon of peace and prosperity.

People can claim whatever about a state. Doesn't change the attitude of individuals.

Pakistan could be a secular republic tomorrow. Won't make everyone secular and law abiding will it?

The figures I gave of other countries are reported figures. Unreported are higher.

The majority of rapes anywhere on the planet go unreported. Not a Pakistan phenomenon.

I was born and raised in the UK. I have yet to see a rape being headline news on TV.

Conviction rate for rape is low in every country even when convicted the punishment is no worse than a slap on the hand in western countries.

Pakistan has no problems. They all conspiracies. Pakistan is a beacon of peace and prosperity.

Pakistan has hundreds of problems.

Rape on the hand is a worldwide problem.

NOT Pakistan only.

This problem has not been solved by any country.

Don't get so emotional.

Golden rule - unless there is an exclusive trait in an argument which descend to comparisons, it's not worth discussing.

Highlighting issues in Pakistan which are far more prevalent and exist else where, is not an argument - it's bias.

This problem so that is why Pakistanis protest. Also, you cannot compare a third world country like Pakistan with the West. In the West, people are caught and convicted for rape but in Pakistan, they are free as a bird to rape someone again!

Because UK is a civilised country that is why you won’t see extensive coverage of rape cases. When was the last time when a 2.5 year old was raped and then killed with a sickle? In short, Pakistan is the world’s most brutal and cruel society.

Saeedhk as usual crying about Pakistan this Pakistan that, Pakistan is the best country for females, few cases wont change that, by the way its a false narrativ agenda to promote false things

We will never ever trust fabricated numbers by feminists and liberals. They are trying hard like Saeedhk but fail everytime.

Yes. Pakistan is the best country for women that is the reason why Pakistan has the highest number of out-of-school girls. Sharam karo. Lying through your teeth.

Well if we're going down that route:

According to the latest National Crime Records Bureau data, 2016 saw 19,765 cases of child rape being registered in India - a rise of 82% from 2015 when 10,854 cases were recorded.

Where do you live?

I am in the UK and telling you rape of all kinds is just as common here.

PMLN or PPP will solve it. What they couldn't do in multiple terms they will do now.

Give it a rest mate. We know your frustrations and others here.

The moment your leaders comes into power you will stop complaining.

Fair weather Pakistanis.

What you smoking?

I am telling you there are 85,000 rapes on average each year. Around 250 a day yet they don't get reported in the news.

Simply because it is common and not newsworthy.

Yeah that's why Jimmy Saville, molested hundreds of young girls live on BBC. That's why a British Prime Minister raped a minor. Much civilized country.

Sexual violence statistics
Key statistics about rape and sexual violence in England and Wales.

In the year to the end of March 2017, the Crime Survey for England and Wales (CSEW) estimated:

20% of women and 4% of men have experienced some type of sexual assault since the age of 16, equivalent to 3.4 million female and 631,000 male victims
3.1% of women (510,000) and 0.8% of men (138,000) aged 16 to 59 had experienced a sexual assault in the last year.

In January 2013, An Overview of Sexual Offending in England and Wales, the first ever joint official statistics bulletin on sexual violence released by the Ministry of Justice (MoJ), Office for National Statistics (ONS) and Home Office, revealed:

Approximately 85,000 women and 12,000 men (aged 16 - 59) experience rape, attempted rape or sexual assault by penetration in England and Wales alone every year; that's roughly 11 of the most serious sexual offences (of adults alone) every hour.
Only around 15% of those who experience sexual violence report to the police
Approximately 90% of those who are raped know the perpetrator prior to the offence

Download the full report, a summary and/or the data tables for more information.

More key stats:

31% of young women aged 18-24 report having experienced sexual abuse in childhood (NSPCC, 2011)
Most women in the UK do not have access to a Rape Crisis Centre (Map of Gaps, 2007)
A third of people believe women who flirt are partially responsible for being raped (Amnesty, 2005)
Conviction rates for rape are far lower than other crimes, with only 5.7% of reported rape cases ending in a conviction for the perpetrator. (Kelly, Lovett and Regan, A gap or a chasm? Attrition in reported rape cases, 2005)

The conviction rates aren't any better in the UK. The civilised country according to a guy in this thread.

This year there have been 55,000 recorded rapes so far. That's recorded rapes.

One in 70 recorded rapes in England and Wales led to charge last year
Proportion of police-recorded rapes resulting in charge falls to record low 1.4%

Fewer than one in 70 recorded rapes resulted in a charge last year, as tens of thousands of victims did not support demands from police and prosecutors and withdrew from the process.

Only 1.4% of rapes recorded by police in England and Wales resulted in a charge or a summons in the year to March, a record low after a rate of 1.5% the previous year, according to Home Office figures.

Police recorded more than 55,000 rapes, but a growing number of victims are dropping out of the system. Last year 41% of reports were dropped as the complainant did not support actions called for by police or prosecutors to build a case or bring charges.

The victims’ commissioner, Vera Baird, said this week that rape had in effect been decriminalised owing to the decline in prosecutions. The fall in cases referred by police to the Crown Prosecution Service and record lows in rape prosecutions and convictions are the subject of government review due to report later this year.

Complainants have been under increasing pressure to disclose highly personal information or risk having their case closed, in what campaigners have likened to a “digital strip-search”. Full downloads of the data held on a victim’s phone is often required in order to take a case forward – a practice first reported by the Guardian in 2018.

The practice is now being overhauled following legal action brought by complainants and an investigation by the Information Commissioner’s Office, which found that the demands were excessive and could damage public confidence in the criminal justice system. However, disclosure practices relating to victims’ social services, counselling, medical and school records remain unchanged.

Who is my leader?

Yeah that's why Jimmy Saville, molested hundreds of young girls live on BBC. That's why a British Prime Minister raped a minor. Much civilized country.

Those are isolated cases. Here in Pakistan, sex abuse of children is endemic. Bachabazi is a part of Pakistan's culture. There are even documentaries on this heinous practice. One of the good documentaries on this subject is 'Pakistan's Hidden Shame' which showcases the rampant pedophilia/bachabazi in KP.

Also, Pakistan religious schools are also epicenters of such abuse.

Hence, there is no comparison between the UK and Pakistan.

Happens all the time in the UK too.

I am pretty sure when 2.5 year olds are raped and then stoned to death in the UK almost every week, it will surely make made front-page news.

Victims in the UK withdrew from the case voluntarily. The police was involved and most likely the cases was brought to a court.

However, in Pakistan, rape victims are first blamed for getting raped by their police chief, then the police refuses to register the rape case and then even if the case goes to court, the victims are forced/intimidated to withdraw their cases by the perpetrators.

I am pretty sure the Pakistanis who were convicted for grooming teenage girls in the UK would never have been punished if it was Pakistan.

Adding to my point above:

Mukhtar Mai and countless other Pakistani women would love to have their cases heard in a British court rather than a Pakistani court.

Did you even read the articles before opening your gob?

Rape is rampant in the UK and the conviction rate is 1%.

Somehow you found a positive in that which shows how bad Pakistan is.

Not worth debating with someone this delusional.

I'm out.

You made the right move. He keeps moving the goalposts. His opening gambit is that the rate of xyz are highest in Pakistan, but when proven wrong, as you have above, his story changes.

I agree. Not worth debating unless these Pakistan haters can come out with a unique trait supporting their hate. Otherwise they are simply highlighting a world wide problem.

12 year old orphan raped in Kasur.

Newly-wed women raped in Shujabad.

Dead women sexually assaulted in Kasur.

Absolutely zero respect of women. This rape culture needs to end!

They need to come up with death penalty for rape. Even Taliban punishment for rape (chopping genitals off) is considered lenient in my view. Rapists, just like murderers, don't deserve to live.

The rapes for some reason has increased ever since IK started his jhaap of banning "behayi and indecency" etc. Or maybe its bc that the cases are finally getting reported.

Is it getting worse in Pakistan, or has it always been this bad and it's a case of it's now being reported more widely?

It has always been bad. I have older female relatives and family friends who growing up in the 70s or 80s had similar experiences as reported in this thread, either they narrowly escaped or unfortunately fell to the abuse. And who would they tell? In those times and even now the culture of that country would shame the woman, so they just went silent and kept it under wraps.

But now that the whole world is progressing towards female empowerment they are slowly finding their voices.

At least it’s being reported now. Can’t imagine what it’s like being a father or brother in that country, being concerned that your wife, sister, mother and daughter are safe from such evil people. Forget that, imagine being a woman in that country.

No it's cause the electronic media but especially social media has become a more powerful tool highlight the vices in society

How does advent of social media result in more reporting of rape cases or
it it that they just increase the media coverage and the awareness about those cases?

80 year old woman raped in Pakistan.

Father rapes, murders 2 year old daughter

This is truly sickening! This has become the norm and there is no end in sight.

A criminal knows the repucussions and yet commits the crime in the belief that he won't get caught. The deterrent is not the magnitude of the punishment. It's fearless reporting by the brave victims and swift justice.

Ted Heath raped a minor?

I know his name has been mentioned along with others...in relation to sexual misconduct...

Was any proof ever forthcoming to actually substantiate this?
