Mumbai Indians defeat Chennai Super Kings by one run to win IPL title

Risabh Pant has a test on his hand.
Playing in pressure game he now has to score 51 of next 5 overs to go now ,with Rashid khan having two overs left.
Test of his skills and temperament in this DC vs SRH match.
Will he pass or fail?

Rashid Khan bowled out.. you almost give me an extra hope..

DC need 42 off 4 overs. Can it get closer than this? The equation I still feel favours DC as they have two power-hitters in the middle with Keemo Paul...but can Pant do it....Exciting IPL game on

34 of 18 needed
Sherfane Rutherford and Pant....two hardhiitters of the game at crease with Keemo P to follow.

Pant is a match winner , he will never be consistent , but he should be in Indian XI , you need at least 2 - 3 match winners like him in the team.

Williamson is to blame if we lose this match.. What was he's thinking when giving to ball Thampi, that too when when his best bowler had 2 over left..

Agree! There was no need of Thampi there when Khaleel had 2 overs left! Dhoni should take a masterclass to all these new-gen captains on how to rotate bowlers in death overs!

Tax evaders and money launderers? Probably every single owner at least to a certain extent has indulged in such things.

Mallya owns no team. He never did. RCB is owned by United Spirits. A listed company. Mallya was once the biggest shareholder, now its biggest shareholder is Diageo.

You are making very serious allegations. All the IPL teams are owned by either listed companies or by very respectable individuals, to say that they are into money laundering without any proof is uncalled for.

Ofcourse some people hate the IPL and its mostly due to the letter I in it, but that doesnot make the owners money launderers.

Thala always gets these DRS calls right!!! The MI's sidekick S Ravi trying his best to favor Delhi today but luck is not on his side! :)))

Last few IPL games are becoming too predictable and one sided.

Chennai Super Kings will play Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League final after they beat Delhi Capitals by six wickets in the qualifier.

The defending champions kept Delhi to 147-9 from their 20 overs with Rishabh Pant (38) the only player to pass 30.

Openers Faf du Plessis and Shane Watson both scored 50 in reply before the win was sealed with six balls remaining.

Sunday's final will be Chennai's eighth in their 10 seasons in the IPL as they bid for a fourth title.

Dwayne Bravo, Harbhajan Singh, Ravindra Jadeja and Deepak Chahar all took two wickets each with the ball for Chennai, leaving Delhi unable to build a telling partnership.

The Doosra podcast: The IPL Final preview
South Africa captain Du Plessis and former Australia all-rounder Watson then shared an opening stand of 81 and although both fell immediately after reaching their half-centuries Chennai were always comfortable.

Captain MS Dhoni fell with two runs required as he tried to seal the win with a boundary but the victory came a ball later when the ball deflected off Bravo's pads for four leg byes.

The final will be a rematch of Tuesday's first qualifier which Mumbai won by six wickets to progress straight to the final.

Mumbai and Chennai are the IPL's two most successful teams having both won the title three times.

Chennai won the 2018 edition in their first season back after a two-year ban for their part in a corruption scandal.

CSK is most probably winning this one.
There is something about Dhoni which brings out the best from even average/out of form/ old players.
Guys used to troll CSK by calling it grandpa's team and what not, but the same team is now close to winning back to back titles.
Someone rightly said that IPL is a tournament where 7 teams fight to face CSK in the finals.

It was just one angle the one Sanjay Manjerekar kept crying about

He was IN.

Why did he walk then? He walked half way after seeing the replay. Unless you think you know better than the guy who was actually given out and didn't complain.

Do you think Dhoni wants another controversy with umpires especially after what happened before?

Who needs batsmen to score runs when fielders do it for you. Absolutely disgusting whoever's the fielding coach needs to be sacked for this.

Those stupid dots where polly could have taken 2, the wide in the last over not given. Boy these are fine margins, ofcourse they wouldn't be so fine if we just had held on to our chances.

Mumbai Indians 149/8

Chennai Super Kings 148/7

Mumbai Indians defeat Chennai Super Kings to by one run to win the IPL.

Watched a documentary about MI on netflix, it was great documentary, but hated how Ambani's wife and her son was involved too much in the team's decision making. Wish they would keep their nose out of the game decisions.

man I should take leave tomorrow.. I don't like both team but wants CSK win today..

Finally the tamasha is over. Now off to real and serious cricket.

See you next year IPL fans. Will miss you during the world cup. :inti jagatk RamLakhan Mp812

I can see how T20 is so popular. Close finishes, match duration less. World Cup once in 4 years is meh. Already forgot about last world cup. If World cup was more often then would have cared. Need something frequent like grand slams in tennis, or playoffs each year in basketball.

Sharma, Kohli, Dhoni, Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar, Chahal; the IPL rockstars all in the same team.

Can't wait for the Men in Blue to win their 3rd World Cup title.

MI always has upper hand over csk. Rohit should be India's captain in limited overs cricket. I really hope at some point in future kohli leaves captaincy in short formats.

Jadeja repeated champion's trophy thing again by running out watson. Proved again that He is mental midget and can't be trusted as a batsman in limited overs cricket.

That's Run-out not Jadeja's fault.. he's aware of Watson struggles so he actually waits for Watson for coming back.. he didn't push for that double, but Watson was double minded that's why he falls shot..

and it's nice to see Warner's name gets more cheers than Rohit Sharma and MSD.. Hyderabad really loves him ...

The final was excellent , both teams could win in the final over , in fact till last ball.

Chennai would be disappointed , but Mumbai looked the best team.

The best team of the competition has won. I am a CSK fan but again you need to appreciate the opponent who have been clearly the superior team.

Mumbai Indians won a record fourth Indian Premier League title after they beat Chennai Super Kings by a single run in a dramatic finish.

Mumbai set Chennai a target of 150 after hitting 149-8 from 20 overs with Kieron Pollard top scoring with 41.

Shane Watson's 80 took Chennai to the verge of victory, but needing nine to win off the last over, he was run out.

That left Shardul Thakur needing two runs off the final ball but he was trapped lbw by Lasith Malinga.

Mumbai's victory also denied Chennai a fourth title and the chance of retaining the Indian Premier League after winning the 2018 edition, their first since a two-year ban for their part in a corruption scandal.

Malinga struggled earlier on by giving away 49 runs in his four overs but the last two overs by the Sri Lankan and fellow pace bowler Jasprit Bumrah, who took 2-14, were decisive.

West Indies batsman Pollard's unbeaten 41 off 25 balls, alongside Quinton de Kock's 29 helped set up the Mumbai total.

"The team that panics less does better. It was a team performance," said Pollard.

Watson, who was dropped twice by Rahul Chahar, looked as though he would deliver victory after he smashed four sixes and eight fours in his 59-ball knock but he paid for a reckless run out when he attempted to get back on strike.

M.S. Dhoni was also dismissed in the same manner as Ishan Kishan's direct throw at the bowler's end put the defending champions in trouble at 82-4.

Dhoni only made two runs as most of the Chennai line-up struggled - Faf du Plessis (26) and Dwayne Bravo (15) the only batsmen other than Watson to reach double figures.

Indian batting legend Sachin Tendulkar, an advisor to the Mumbai team, nervously watched the finale and said Dhoni's run-out was a "key moment". Of the final over, he added: " I thought Malinga finished the game out beautifully."

Mumbai's victory added to their IPL titles in 2013 and 2015 - both against Chennai - and again in 2017 when they beat Rising Pune Supergiant by one run.

Who told you that we don't care about International Cricket? We have got more involved. please check all the three latest tough overseas test series, we were doing better analysis & constructive criticism (and even more positively patriotic about our team prospects) than how you blindly bashed so-called IPL stars who were also playing test matches with full spirit, and you expected miraculous performances from them and kept bashing even though its their first tour, and your favorite so-called "Pure International" stars from "Absolute Non-IPL" era could not achieve the feat (Test Series victory in Australia, ODI series victory in SA) after multiple tours (now don't give the excuse of Poor Australian/South African sides today! IPL is not responsible for the drop in quality of those teams! As if the teams in the past never had average players in them! If at all - these current teams have better exposure to Indian batsmen & bowlers today as they do play Pyjama Cricket!)

You are a sad man who would rather india lose than have someone like a pandya win the game for us, so please don't miss me. I will be cheering on india, while you support specific players.

This match proves that AB is right about IPL. One didnt know who will win the trophy till the last ball was bowled.

Lol what a despo. I have never ever in my life wanted India to lose just because someone I criticise is playing for India but I have seen some of you wanting India to lose just so Dhoni can be dropped from the team. Just visit the match threads and see it yourself. Find me at least 1 post where I said something like 'hopefully we will lose today so that we can get rid of Rayudu and Dhoni'.

Plastic fans like you are just glory hunters. I can bet my house you will be the first ones to cuss Rishabh Pant and his family when he goes out of form. Today its Dhoni tomorrow it will be Pant for you guys.

Also the bottomline is Pant is not selected for the world cup and I wasn't the one who kicked h out of the team. Team management and selectors did it for a reason which is way above your thinking. Keep crying buddy. :inti
