Mustafizur Rehman joins PSL XI draft after impulsive release from IPL 2026

this just reinforces what is already known, PSL is becoming a dumping ground of all has beens and IPL rejects
 
He is a handy bowler.
Indians are giving him a million USD even though he is not playing.

They already gave him few 100k for playing IL20.

And he will get a decent contract in PSL, playing in a comfortable environment for him and become a fan favourite.

Not bad at all.

Okay and? You're making it sound like IPL is the be all, end all. There are plenty of skillful cricketers in the world who don't get picked in the IPL but still have alot to give to the sport of cricket, and are still good enough to earn a living as overseas professionals in T20 leagues.

And Fizz isn't even that. The fact that he has been picked by an IPL team almost every year since 2016 shows that he isn't a has been. That he is very much in demand, if anything.
 
I hope any PSL franchise opts for him except Karachi Kings and Peshawar Zalmi
 
Well.

Their loss is our gain. It doesn’t matter too much though because I think he’s past his prime.

Cricketers all over still want IPL as their first priority because of the money involved. That might change one day when other leagues catch up. Not happening anytime soon though.
 
He went sold for $1m in IPL but I doubt he would get picked in platinum category in PSL lol
 
I wish him the best. As far as I recall he’s always stuck to his job as a professional, no faltu airs or nonsense.

People often forget that the real competitive edge of IPL isn't the auction, the star power, or anything else but it's the window that the league has which effectively means it's the only cricket that is available for viewers to watch.

If PSL stays in the window, it can easily maintain its presence and if some players like Williamson, Smith, Root etc. join in, it'll also get steady & better viewership. BD has banned IPL, Pak viewers already will spend time watching PSL, & overseas Pakistanis will also put their weight behind it. Not a bad situation to be in, they just need to make the product better & more watchable.

I don't think fans are personally against him. Couldn't have happened to him at the worst possible time as that is a lot of money. They did root for him when he played in the IPL. Infact MSd kinda handpicked him for CSK for 2024 season. He was the main reason CSK bought him.

Because in IPL he is competing with Indian Trudlers, in PSL he is competing with Pakistani fast bowlers.

Absolutely. There is no reason PSL why can't be it's own thing, and still be a good product. It's ridiculous to think you can even compete with the IPL because no league in the world can. Ultimately, it's about what your goals are, and achieving them. In my eyes, PSL's biggest goal is to be that 'festival of cricket' that appeals as much to average people (who don't watch cricket religiously) as it does to the cricket fans. I doubt average people even know who most of the international players are. They can probably only name a few of the top names. And so what, if some of those international players are "past their prime"? It's not as if they don't have years of experience to draw from that they can't share with the younger players in the dressing room. So that goal of having your young players rub shoulders with experienced overseas professionals is being fulfilled too.

Our people need to stop living with this inferiority complex where they try to compare PSL to the IPL. There is no comparison. Focus on what you can control and how you can make your product better, instead of focusing on things you can't control.
 
Mustafiz should get many gigs. He plays in Dubai league (ILT20), SL league, and is now in PSL. He also plays in BPL.

He should avoid IPL. IPL is overrated. I also suspect IPL has a lot of match-fixings/spot fixings. Al-Jazeera did a documentary I believe. :inti
 
Good news, good PSL. Mustafiz is a quality t20 bowler.

What I can’t believe though.. he last played PSL 8/9years ago?!

PSL is better, better quality local pace bowlers, less bullywood tamash like IPL which goes on for an eternity. But it’s entertainment for them I guess everyone has different tastes. I prefer PSL. Fizz will add more quality to PSL.

I think PSL is the 2nd best in the world. First is BBL.

I find IPL very overrated. I am also not sure if it is a clean league. I suspect fixings (India is the source behind most fixings in cricket).

At least Fizz will not have to worry about sanghi terrorists. Pakistan is a very welcoming place.

Indeed overrated boring and unclean. Fixing paradise, IPL. Same with BPL under the previous corrupt Awami gov with Papon in charge. Now BPL is cleaning up.

I have been following BBL this year. Loving it. This is what a T20 league should be like. PSL is also pretty entertaining. I check it out once in a while.

Then again, BBL is run by intelligent Australians. IPL is run by low-IQ sanghis. No comparison I guess. :inti

Birmingham Phoenix then go for Bangladesh's Mustafizur Rahman who has a base price of £100,000 and with Southern Brave deciding against making a move, they have their player.
