Naseem Shah or Shaheen Shah Afridi - Who is more talented?

Just need Hasnain to develop and we have three potentially world-class, all-format bowlers, with the likes of Rauf, Shinwari, Musa (LOIs), Abbas and maybe Hasan (Tests) to support them, with Amir featuring in world tournaments and the likes of Amir Khan developing.

Very exciting times.

Good question. While I think Shaheen has a greater skillet at this point, there's nothing stopping Naseem for matching or even surpassing Shaheen.

Both are quite talented no doubt.

There's also the likes of Akif Javed, and there will always be others produced by LQ's PDP etc. We're producing a factory of quality pacers right now.

Coming back to the title though, I'd go with Shaheen. Very mature and reliable already and is developing rapidly mA.

Not to take anything away from Naseem, who is also world-class.

Good to read your comment!

I don't know why many posters think it's necessary to demean one player to prove their point for another player . . Nah man, both can be good and hopefully both will become good! You don't have to castigate Naseem to say that Shaheen is better or vice versa . .

Personally, Shaheen is definitely ahead of Naseem in development. Shaheen has been around the system for a few years now and has clearly improved a lot . .

I still remember many posters here absolutely on a rampage against Shaheen last year when he was getting pummeled in England before the world cup and wanted him kicked out . . but then knee jerk reactions are a thing here! Irony is that most of them have now gotten on the Shaheen bandwagon . .

Naseem clearly is talented . . he needs to work a lot on his fitness . . but he has a very high ceiling as well!

Let's hope both of them continue to rise and improve for the sake of Pakistan cricket!

Throwing around labels like world class when Naseem hasn't done anything of note overloads a player with expectations. He's very talented and has the potential to be world class. Right now that's where he's at.

Both are incredibly accurate (Shaheen is more accurate than Naseem though), bowl quick (Naseem is obviously quick but Shaheen bowls really quick too), both are smart.

Shaheen is slightly ahead at the moment, but he also has a year and a half more experience. When these 2 are bowling they make everyone else in the PSL look mediocre.

Both have insance fitness, something we haven't seen in a Pakistani pacer in a while. Naseem will be naturally more prone to injury as he does bowl quicker and puts in more effort, also he is younger.

I feel like Naseem will be more effective in Asia and Shaheen will be more effective in SENA countries. Naseem will still be successful in these countries as he has a brilliant seam position and does move the bowl, he isn't fully reliant on pace.

I am guilty I also judged him off of his first half of world cup but I thought he was too young to represent Pakistan but kudos to him for turning it around

Agreed. I don't think anyone can argue that Shaheen isn't ahead at this stage, and by a long way. He has height, a beautiful repeatable action and most importantly a brain.

However you are completely downplaying Naseem. By all metrics he is a special talent. He is a lot more raw but there is something about him that gives him the x-factor.

For example Hasnain is taller, better build, faster. But its clear there is a gulf in quality between him and Naseem.
This hasnain has everything but still one feel he is not that special but what separates tham fitness or accuracy

It’s a weird comparison to be frank. One is left armer who relies a lot on his accuracy; the other is a right armer who is essentially a speed demon. It’s like comparing Wasim and Shoaib. They are totally different types of bowlers.

Not really. Naseem is only just quicker than Shaheen. Naseem doens't rely just on pace.
