ISLAMABAD: Former prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Nawaz Sharif submitted a review petition in Supreme Court on Thursday seeking permanent bail

In the petition filed by the PML-N leader, Nawaz has requested the court to review their decision and grant permanent bail.

The SC had granted Nawaz bail on medical grounds for six weeks on March 26 to obtain medical treatment within the country. The court ruled that Nawaz will not be allowed to leave the country for treatment and directed him to submit two bail bonds amounting to Rs10 million.

Nawaz, thrice the prime minister of Pakistan, had been in jail since December 2018 following his conviction in Al Azizia corruption reference in line with the Supreme Court’s July 2017 verdict.

An accountability court on December 24 had found the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader guilty in the Al Azizia Steel Mills reference and sentenced him to seven years in prison.

Nawaz Sharif's request: I need treatment in London.

So in 30 years of ruling period the corrupt "but competent" Nawaz Sharif wasn't able to build a single Hospital in Punjab/Pakistan where he can be treated?

This is what some idiots described as a competent. Lets see CJP show some courage and send back to jail for the remainder of his sentence.

Come on Army/GHQ/ISI was stopping Nawaz Sharif from building a good hospital where he can be treated in future #Conspiracy101

I dont think the Nooras seriously think he will get to leave, what they are banking on is that SC will cowed into saying he cant leave the country but he can extend his bail. The SC have to stand upto this sort of crap and say no.

There was no doubt he wanted to run away from Day1, all this drama was created by paid journalists so this INQILAABI can run away using his existing health condition as an excuse.

Main jail main marna pasand karonga laikin bheek nahi maango ga........bus ilaaj k liye London jaanay dou...inqilaabi made in China :)) :))

He wants to go to London, but they know they wont be allowed so the next best is to get permanent bail. The SC should have thrown out the nonsense straight away but it shows how weak the Judiciary are when a convicted criminal can dictate terms.

30 years of governance.

Still not able to trust the hospitals and other basic facilities which were made during his regime.

Sums up his 30 years achievements.

Some Noora supporters are just like trump. Will find anything to exonerate and defend NS or just flat out ignore the chargesheet against him.

Can some doctors(Mamoon, DRsohail) please explain to me why is it taking so long to diagnose his medical problems? Nawaz Sharif hasn't even started his treatment yet.

He has been diagnosed.

He just don't want to be treated in Pakistan because he does not trust Pakistani hospital capability and his only way out of Pakistan.

A very competent politician ;)

What is a permanent bail any law student please explain? I never heard of it before. NS requested a permanent bail

Return all the looted money then he should be allowed to leave Pak permanently.

It means that you get to commit the crime, and if you get caught and convicted, you never serve a sentence. What's even funnier is their desperation for the IHC to be allowed to decide,I wonder why IHC?

What’s actually wrong with him? Surely it’s not some super rare medical condition that he has to go overseas for?

Find it difficult to believe that Pakistan doesn’t have the adequate medical facilities to treat his cardiovascular issues.

Apparently he may die suddenly and obviously that has never happened to anyone before because NS hasn't worked so hard to steal these billions, just to become the 1st ever to die suddenly.

He needs to take all the blame for not building good hospitals in own country and should also have invested alot in the education sector.

But if his condition is seriously bad he should be allowed to be treated where he wants. And then he probably may also realize how incompetent he was as a leader.

Do you think all PK prisoners be given the same right?

Poor guy, even his wife died just a few months ago. Must be really suffering.

LOL! Hilarious isn't it? Every single one of us could die suddenly. Like you say, in his world, a first with NS!

There's a thing called forgiveness.

And who are we to forgive him? At least he should ask for forgiveness first from those thousands and millions who suffered. His ego is too big to admit his mistakes and ask for forgiveness.

'Unforgivable damage will occur if bail is not extended': Nawaz files appeal in SC

Ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday filed an application in the Supreme Court seeking an extension in his six-week bail in the Al-Azizia Steel Mills corruption reference.

The application calls for an extension in bail — which expires on May 7 — until the verdict of his review petition of the March 26 order, which seeks permission for Sharif to leave the country.

Last week, Sharif had sought the Supreme Court’s permission to go abroad for medical treatment through a review petition — four weeks into his bail, which does not allow him to leave the country.

“Given the complicated and life-threatening nature of ischemic heart disease, carotid artery disease, lymphadenopathy and renal artery stenosis, from which the petitioner [Nawaz Sharif] is admittedly suffering […] it is in the interest of justice that condition imposed for the petitioner’s release on bail merits review,” argued the review petition filed by Sharif through his counsel Khawaja Haris Ahmed.

It contended that the only feasible option available to Sharif was to be treated by the same medical practitioners who were looking after him earlier in the United Kingdom.

"Unforgivable damage will occur if the bail is not extended," the application read, adding that there was hope that the review petition filed in the SC would be accepted.

On March 26, the Supreme Court had suspended Sharif’s sentence and granted him bail for six weeks — but with a condition that he would not leave Pakistan during that period.

All the previous and fresh reports and recommendations by special medical boards as well as different specialists regarding Sharif’s health were enclosed with the petition.

The former premier had challenged the Feb 25 Islamabad High Court order of turning down his bail plea on medical grounds in the Al-Azizia Steel Mills corruption reference. The PML-N supreme leader is on bail in the Avenfield properties reference in which an accountability court had convicted and sentenced him to 10 years in prison. The IHC had suspended the sentence.

In its March 26 order, the Supreme Court had recalled that because of long, complicated cardiac surgical history, cardiac surgical backup was recommended during catheterisation. It has clearly been mentioned in such reports that while undergoing angiography, Sharif “will be at a mild [to] moderate risk of contrast including nephropathy”, the order said.

“In this peculiar backdrop, and extending due deference to the consistent medical opinion of senior doctors, counsel’s prayer regarding Nawaz Sharif’s admission to bail upon suspension of his sentence for a limited period has been found by us to be reasonable. This petition is, therefore, converted into an appeal and the same is allowed and consequently Nawaz Sharif is admitted to bail upon suspension of his sentence,” the order concluded.

The order further said that Sharif will have to surrender to the law once the six week period expired and that he could not apply for an extension in the bail without doing so.

This is a direct threat from the mafia boss. I hope that the courts stand up to black mail and nail the crook.

Gosh this is what happens when you let competent mafias operate for decades.

I actually do think he is right. If he dies in jail, that could lead to chaos.

Nothing will happen if he does. The Nooras are cowards and a good beating from the Police and army will send them back home.

These are all chronic diseases and mostly treated with medical management (pills). There is absolutely no reason he needs to leave the country for such common diseases which will be managed the exact same way in Pakistan as in England. Any Internal Medicine specialist can manage these diseases!

It should be clear to everyone that this is another ploy to fool the public by this disgraced crook. He has been doing it for decades, and he will not stop until the day he dies.

Appeal reject by CJ Khosa and Nawaz to be arrested again on 7th May. So NS ka pehla roza jail main hoga? I heard "Ramadan main shaitaan band kerdiay jaate hen"

The Supreme Court on Friday rejected ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif's plea seeking an extension in his six-week bail in the Al-Azizia Steel Mills corruption reference.

On April 30, Sharif had filed an application in the apex court seeking an extension in his six-week bail in the Al-Azizia corruption reference.

The application had called for an extension in bail — which expires on May 7 — until the verdict of his review petition of the March 26 order, which seeks permission for Sharif to leave the country.

The counsel for Nawaz Sharif, Khawaja Haris Ahmed, today contended that, according to the written order of the court, his client can't apply for bail before surrendering himself to the authorities. He added that the written order had some contradictions to the verbal orders.

At this point, Justice Sajjad Ali Shah reminded the counsel that any thing said by judges before signing a verdict is called observation and not ruling.

The counsel asked the court to extend his client's bail for eight more weeks. He argued that the health condition of his client was deteriorating. He said that the medical reports of Nawaz merited an angiography. The chief justice remarked that angiography process needs just an hour, whereas the court had granted six weeks.

“Given the complicated and life-threatening nature of ischemic heart disease, carotid artery disease, lymphadenopathy and renal artery stenosis, from which the petitioner [Nawaz Sharif] is admittedly suffering […] it is in the interest of justice that condition imposed for the petitioner’s release on bail merits review,” the review petition filed by Sharif through his counsel Khawaja Haris Ahmed had argued.

It contended that the only feasible option available to Sharif was to be treated by the same medical practitioners who were looking after him earlier in the United Kingdom. "Unforgivable damage will occur if the bail is not extended," the application had read.

I wonder how much money Khawaja Haris as lawyer of NS made so far? NS surely lost all the cases but it's a win-win for Haris because he is still his lawyer...

Nawaz accompanied by PML-N workers leaves for Kot Lakhpat Jail

Ousted premier Nawaz Sharif has left Jati Umra for Kot Lakhpat Jail with a procession of PML-N workers led by Maryam Nawaz, following the expiry of his six-week bail in the Al-Azizia Steel Mills case.

The former prime minister, who is heading back to the penitentiary, left his residence in Lahore after breaking his fast. In what was a departure from family tradition, Nawaz let Maryam take the front seat and himself rode in the back, although the two swapped places later.

Nawaz entered his car amid chants in his favour by PML-N workers, who were also holding placards and posters featuring his pictures.

Also part of Nawaz's entourage are several party leaders including former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, former defence minister Khawaja Asif and Punjab Assembly opposition leader Hamza Shahbaz, who is driving his car.

Meanwhile, Kot Lakhpat Jail's superintendent has said that "since Nawaz did not report back to jail in time, the lockup has been closed for the night and jail authorities will now not receive him."

"A letter has been handed over to Jati Umra's security staff," the official said, adding that "now we await the home department's special orders, on the basis of which a decision will be taken."

A party leader had told Dawn that the procession will serve as a response to critics of the party who believe that the PML-N has lost the ability to mobilise support on the streets. The official also said the party cadre were directed to mobilise the masses and make arrangements for Iftar for those who are likely to join the procession.

PML-N Punjab information secretary Asma Zahid Bukhari had dismissed the impression that the procession was a 'power show' and said that people would show up out of affection for their leader, while MPA Saiful Mulook claimed that no call had been given to workers for the event planned today.

PML-N leader Marriyum Aurangzeb had said that people would come out to say goodbye to Nawaz as per the scheduled programme. She said that the Punjab government would be responsible if the rallies, to express solidarity with Nawaz, are disrupted, and warned the federal and Punjab governments against taking any foolish step.

A day earlier on Monday, the former premier's daughter Maryam had shared a new profile picture on Twitter on her father's return to Kot Lakhpat.

IHC rejects Nawaz Sharif's bail plea [June 2019]

ISLAMABAD: Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif on Monday filed a bail plea on medical grounds in the Islamabad High Court (IHC), ARY News reported.

The incarcerated prime minister moved IHC through his counsel Khawaja Haris.

Sharif is currently serving a jail term of 7-years on being proven guilty in Al-Azizia reference filed against him by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

Chairman NAB, Jail Superintendent Kot Lakhpat Jail and the accountability court have been made respondent in the bail plea, while the recommendations of the specialist doctors hailing from the United Kingdom and the United States have also been attached with the plea.

“Nawaz facing life threats owing to his worsening health and his treatment is not possible in the prison”, the doctors have said in their report filed with the bail plea.

Sharif wanted to get himself treated from the same doctors who treated him in the past, abroad, the plea read.

According to the medical report, Sharif is facing kidneys and heart issues.

“Political opponents are making propaganda that my counsel is looking for a NRO, but one should not forget that he [Nawaz] reached back Pakistan by leaving his ailing wife, who died of cancer in the UK”, the plea read.

On May 8, Nawaz Sharif had returned to Kot Lakhpat prison on late Tuesday, following the expiry of his six-week bail on the medical grounds awarded by the Supreme Court.

This guy has to do drama every two weeks. LHC can not be trusted due to their noora decisions of late.

Khawaja Haris again? This guy must be the luckiest lawyer alive!

Wait... didn't he get 6 weeks bail to get medical treatment and all he did was chill at home or reorganize his political party.

New dramay-baazi it will keep continuing till his last day, which Inshallah God willing will be spent behind bars.
