Netherlands are currently touring New Zealand for 1 T20I and 3 ODI games (part of World Super League).

T20 game got rained out.

1st ODI today.

1st ODI: Netherlands won the toss and decided to bat first.

Netherlands - 16/1 (4.1 overs).

Netherlands - 109/5 (32 overs).

Nice little recovery for the Dutch.

There is rain now. Players are off the field.

A four-wicket haul from Blair Tickner on his ODI debut and a maiden hundred from Will Young set up an emphatic win for the hosts in Mount Maunganui as they took a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.

The 10 points have propelled New Zealand to the 10th place in the CWCSL standings from the 12th and if they continue their winning momentum, they have a good chance of climbing higher up in the table.

Tickner finished with 4/50 from his ten overs, claiming Vikram Singh and Bas de Leede in his first spell, before returning to pick up Logan van Beek and Pieter Seelaar.

Despite the early loss of Martin Guptill, New Zealand breezed to collect the 10 ODI Super League points through the work of Henry Nicholls and Will Young, the latter scoring his maiden ODI century.

Seelaar won the toss for Netherlands and elected to bat at the Bay Oval, though the tourists were put on the back foot early after the loss of Max O'Dowd (4) and Stephan Myburgh (11).

Singh (19) and de Leede (7) sought a rebuild, though both picked out the third man fielder either side of Scott Edwards bunt back to Colin de Grandhomme for 1.

Spinning at 45/5, Seelaar and Michael Rippon picked up the pieces in a stand of 80, with the latter compiling his second ODI half-century. Seelaar (43) wasn't as fortunate, as his tickled leg glance fell into the gloves of Tom Latham.

Rippon was helped by contributions from Logan van Beek (14) and Philippe Boissevain (15), and the Dutch eventually squeezed past 200 in the final over of the innings.

The top-scorer Rippon (67) was the final wicket to fall, miscuing a full toss delivered by Kyle Jamieson, who finished with figures of 3/45.

Logan van Beek provided the tourists hope with the wicket of Guptill, edging to 'keeper Edwards for two, though it was the last moment of Dutch joy for close to two hours.

Young and Nicholls looked at ease at the crease. Young, playing just his third ODI, found boundaries regularly and raced to his maiden ODI fifty in 54 balls. Nicholls was happy to play second fiddle to Young and soon brought up a fifty of his own as New Zealand cruised along to victory.

The wickets of Nicholls and Ross Taylor came too late in the innings for the Netherlands. Young hit the winning runs and converted his maiden fifty into a hundred as New Zealand took a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.

How on earth, how on earth did the Netherlands manage to dismiss Guptill cheaply today? That´s just not possible, that a minnow should be so cheaply dismissing one of the greatest minnow-bashers of all times.

Netherlands did well after being something like 50/5.

Easy win for New Zealand though.

New Zealand took a 2-0 lead in the three-match ODI series with a comfortable 118-run victory against the Netherlands in Hamilton on Saturday, 2 April.

The victory meant New Zealand jumped from No.11 to eighth in the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League table, leapfrogging Pakistan, with 50 points. Netherlands remain at the bottom of the 13-team table, with 25 points after nine matches.

RANKINGS UPDATE

New Zealand solidified their position at the top of the MRF Tyres ICC Men's ODI Team Rankings, improving their rating by one point to 122.

MATCH SUMMARY

Toss: Netherlands opted to bat

Tom Latham was the architect of the victory. New Zealand were in dire straits against the sprightly opponents, reduced to 89/6 within 23 overs. However, Latham played the ultimate captain’s knock, his 123-ball 140* reviving the hosts and eventually taking them to a mammoth 264/9.

His knock – it was his career-best score in ODI cricket – was laced with 10 fours and five sixes. It was his birthday, and he couldn’t have rung in his thirties any better.

Netherlands faltered in their chase. They were 4/2 within the first two overs – Doug Bracewell and Kyle Jamieson saw off the openers – and thereafter, it was an uphill battle. There was a fighting second-wicket partnership between Vikramjit Singh and Bas de Leede, the duo putting on 77, but they were dismissed for 31 and 37 respectively, and Netherlands had no way back.

They were bundled out for 146 in 34.1 overs, with Michael Bracewell returning figures of 3/21.

Player of the Match: Tom Latham 140* (123)

NEXT UP

The final ODI will be played in Hamilton on Monday, with Netherlands looking to gain valuable CWCSL points whilst New Zealand will pursue the sweep.

New Zealand were something like 50/5.

Netherlands started well but didn't continue the momentum.

Ross Taylor took the winning catch in his final international appearance, as New Zealand completed a 3-0 whitewash of Netherlands with a comprehensive 115-run victory at Hamilton's Seddon Park on Monday, April 4.

New Zealand’s sixth straight win in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League helped them leapfrog Pakistan to the eighth position on virtue of a superior Net Run Rate (NRR). Netherlands remain at the bottom of the 13-team table with 25 points from 10 games

Stephan Myburgh began all guns blazing in Netherland’s run-chase of 334, launching an early assault on New Zealand new-ball pair of Matt Henry and Kyle Jamieson. Playing his final ODI innings, the left-hander struck 64 off 43 in a brisk 81-run opening stand with Max ODowd, before falling to Colin de Grandhomme’s gentle medium pace.

The visitors faltered thereafter, with Matt Henry bagging 4/36 in an innings that folded out for 218 in 42.3 overs. The winning moment fittingly belonged to Ross Taylor, who caught Aryan Dutt's mistimed pull at mid-wicket to draw curtains on a glorious 16-year-long career.

Earlier, Taylor managed 14 off 16 in his final outing, being dismissed caught and bowled by Logan van Beek. That was after Martin Guptill and Will Young’s 203-run second-wicket stand laid the foundation for New Zealand’s impressive first-innings effort of 333/8, with both batters registering hundreds.

Guptill became the fourth New Zealand batter to complete 7,000 ODI runs during his 123-ball 106 – his 17th ODI ton, which now puts him second among New Zealanders after Taylor (21). Young registered his second hundred of the series, striking 120 off 112, which featured six hits to the fence and four over it.

Player of the Match: Will Young – 120 (112)

Player of the Series: Will Young – 224 runs at 112, two hundreds
