Is there a partnership developing for Bangladesh? [MENTION=132954]Aman[/MENTION] is not that active now.

Face saving effort, but we should have planned better against Kiwis - they allowed same team to chase 263 from 34-4, which suggests their weakness in finishing (& strength with new ball). Soumya & Mushfique should be shamed for their effort he. Saif is a big plus though - after WC, he'll replace Mash and we'll be able to play both Taskin & Mustafiz.

That's what I said the other day. BD always competed against NZ in NZ. At home they have an almost perfect record against NZ

Actually, the plot changed with Shakib being injured at last minute - he gives so much balance in this squad that almost a triple play. I think, if Shakib was available, Taskin would have played instead of Sabbir.

No, it's Napier - Kiwis did chase 330+ against Aussies here and 27 years back, SRL chased 315 against ZIM (most likely here). And, we are one bowler short including 10 overs of Mash - Soumya & Mahmud will make up 10 overs. It has to be a massive collapse for Kiwi end to make even a game of 240ish total.
 
Whats up with UNICEF on BD players collars?

Unicef doesn't pay - Barca did that for free, so don't think BD brand is strong enough to charge Unicef, neither cricket is a game which is followed by every old man and his dog.

Many of the sponsors in this series I see from BD, so probably they are sponsoring the Unicef logo as well - BCB not likely to be that generous.

Apart from ZIM bashing, this is probably 6th time in a row that we have failed to bat out 50 overs batting first and today we needed a 43 from No. 9 to play out 48 overs .......

Hope, someone from BD team is reading this.
 
Mustafizur will be the key. Mehdi Hassan and even Mahmudullah can come in handy agianst the lefties.

Needed someone frome top 3 to go till the 40th over ideally. Soumya like most of the times missed to comvert the start. Need someone solid at that 1 down position. Mominul Haque can be a decent option or even Mithun showed decent technique and temperament.

Yes Mominul hasnt performed much in ODIs in whatever chances he was given.

They could have added someone like Yasir Ali in the squad. Havent seen much of him but he has a first class avg close to 50 and was just looking at his BPL stats, he scored 3 50s there as well. He is just 22, 6 centuries and a good first class avg shows he has a good basic technique.

There won't be much change before WC. After WC, I think there'll be 3-4 instant changes - Mash, Rubel, Mahmudullah dropped (from ODI), Mushi leaving WKeeping and few new batsmen in squad - Yasir will definitely make the squad, Mosaddek, Zakir and Afif as well.
 
BPL has really played a role in improvement of BD cricket. Self belief of the players is much higher after playing with a lot of international players and obviously youngsters are learning as well.

It would be good of they can add more U19 players only Afif Hussain and Qasi Onik are some names having played some matches.

How many youngster you want in squad? It's already among the youngest squads and we have changed half of the roster since last WC. Tamim, Mushi, Shakib & Mahmudullah started career for an emerging team at the genuine age of U19, therefore they look veteran, but they are still at their peak age.

No it isnt that I want more younger players in the squad, I believe that upcoming players have more upside then some of the current players in domestic setup.

Afif is a pretty good talent. Mossadek always looks good to the eye with solid technique but still looks like trying to find his feet as he looks bit nervous maybe bcz he always has to come under pressure at 4,5 down.
 
Mortaza has very bad knees. He doesn't look fit. He is gasping or breath already. He is just using his experience to get through the overs.
 
Not sure why Mash didnt have a 2nd slip and Mustafizur hasnt been given new ball. Mustafizur can sometimes bring that new ball back.
 
Saifuddin and Henry has identical bowling action. Quiet uncanny. Just the follow through is different. Upto that point they look identical.

Yes. Saifuddin falls a little in his delivery while Henry is a bit more upright.

That's the problem - both high arm hit the deck type, but one is 6'3"+, another one is max 5'11". Saif needs to bring a bit "sling" in his action to match that height, otherwise he won't last long.

That's what international game is about. Pace to a large extent doesn't scare batsmen. However, a little bit of movement can be effective even if it's 125 or 130. There is no better example than Abbas. Mashrafe is more savvy and disciplined with a lot of experience. Somebody like Shankar who's surprisingly decent with the bat can be very useful to India if he can move the ball a bit at 130 off the seam instead of doling out back of the length stuff. I believe he's a good prospect for No.4 in India.

It is a tug of war situation for NZ openers. Both try to make a mark. Nobody wants to force the issue. They don't take singles either.

Rubel can hit 140k. But he can go either way. You are right. This is a certified trundler brigade. But they are clever though.
 
Current start of NZ shows how important an inform Munro in the playing XI is for their WC cause.

Mash is 90% intelligence and 10% skill ... with 0% muscle - some how he can measure the batsman and actually he bowls well within himself. Despite this 120K average speed, he is maintaining quite a good stats and our pace bowling stats against WC 19 teams are surprisingly better than most can imagine - one main reason in this guy. Heis quite cunning, experienced and the biggest heart around - never shy of any challenge - I don't think he'll be our worst bowler in WC, somehow he'll find a way if he is fit. Taskin, Mustafiz, Mash, Saif backed by Shakib & Miraz isn't that good attack, but it'll keep batting side honest many times - rest is on the batsmen.
 
Whoever thought Nichols will be a good opener has to rethink. This guy is a boring batsman. Looks more boring when Guptill plays this way.

I can't recall anybody that's been given 50 games as an opener without a single hundred. He's at best a T20 batsman. He is just not organized. He doesn't seem to target specific scoring zones. He throws his bat around and is.more.miss than hit. NZ openers haven't put together more than 35 run partnership for 20+ games. He had to go

Most of us know even before CT. India's middle order has been weak ever since inform Yuvi left an Raina left. Absolutely no replcement for yuvrj. DHoni went off the boil to mke it worse. Tried several mediocre plyers.

On the contrary, they are stubborn and assured with their lineup of Rayudu, Dhoni, Jadav. Is that good or bad, we will see. Clueless, they ain't though
 
I for one, think Shankar should be tried at 4 in the AUS series. He looks a dynamic batsman with a good technique. Can hang around, rotate and also score boundaries. A zillion times better fielder than Rayudu. In the last ODI, he looked much more assured for his 45 than Rayudu with his 90

He is a pretty good batsman with different gears, athletic fielder and a decent part timer with ball. Would be an asset for current team.

Lol...you are not wrong. Rayudu, Jadav, Chahal, Bumrah, to a certain extent Dhawan who looks very gingerly. India has a combination of world class fielders like Kohli, Pandya and completely atrocious fielders as mentioned above. Overall, worst in Asia.

Fielding isn't our strength - a little pressure and you'll see the fun. Definitely IND is better than us because players can keep cool under pressure and don't miss regulations. Probably better than SRL as well, who are very athletic but recent days SRL misses too many catches. This is probably the best ever PAK generation in field - still, they struggle under pressure. Overall, none of the 5 are comparable to Kiwis or SAF, even Aussies.

This is the biggest challenge - very little penetrative skills. We try to restrict teams to a manageable total regardless of batting first or 2nd, which worked for SRL in 90s era (their batting & fielding was better as well), but in these era restrictive bowling doesn't work - you have to strike the top order. Kiwis are always in command unless the target is like 333. Also, these days they start D/N game at least an hour earlier, which actually goes against defending side, because a 2:30 start makes start of 2nd innings a bit tricky in twilight zone.
