Batsmen were booking their places on plane to South Africa.
Really so why they continue to play slow when they had booked the tickets after registering their centuries ? Perhaps the opposition bowled and fielded well, perhaps the ball was not coming easily onto the bat for stroke play. Perhaps playing shots meant that you just gift your wicket without any gain on this pitch. If Pak went gung-ho they could have been bowled out for under 300. Their aim was to grind slowly toward a substantial score to add pressure on opposition when bowling.
