Yes true. But then he only plays tests, still no justification of not having a spinner with him who will be used for atleast 25-30 overs and effectively distribute the workload.

That's actually a good tactics. Kiwis use him as a 2nd/4th innings specialist. He is not the tightest Leggi around, but turns lot - in 1st innings, with less turn he'll give boundary balls every here & there. ENG uses Rashid similarly.
 
What a shame it would be if Pakistan is still not in a position to declare after batting for 2 full days.
 
4 Wickets to bowlers in 163 overs and then ICC will fine Test venues where result comes in 3 days!!!!
 
It wouldn’t not matter how slow or how long Pakistan bat as they win this match .. If NZ manage to draw or wins the match then you can criticize/wrist slit all you want ..

A test wicket should make a contest for 5 days. Match finished under 3 days is no way a good cricket pitch. Will have to see Pak ball here to make judgement about this wicket.

High scoring games happen even in Australia and other venues. Otherwsie you would never have seen double tons and tripple tons in tests.

Poor pitch isnt the one with high scores, its the one with low scores and made artificially for that purpose
 
I though home team being behind would be more attacking in its approach but not having a shy at kiwi's after they been in field for 167 overs is pathetic in my opinion .

I think, Yasir will trouble Kiwis here. If pacers can reverse, PAK should win this Test - should look to bat till 45 minutes before lunch & score as quickly as possible. Also, batting 2 days means, Sarfraz can ask for the heaviest roller on 3rd morning.

The declaration was too early going by the fact we struggle in 2nd innings?
 
If declaration was on the cards - shouldn't the players been looking to bat at 6 RPO in the last 1 hour given you were only 5 wickets down. :facepalm:
 
Sensible move . 11 overs today light permitting . My prediction : Kiwi's all out for under 250 .

May be they want a go at Kiwis. But if 170 overs was the target mark, then must have to say last 25 overs batting was pathetic.

Champion of slefish soft runs. Not surprised. As a captain he should have taken more risk if he was going to declare. One of many reasons why he doesn't look like a leader.
 
That declaration didn't seem to be planned out.

They weren't batting as if a declaration was coming for the last hour.

True, came at batting after Tea, and he knew they'll declare with 10-12 overs to go, then he was dropped ..... statistically Bhakts can still say 30 @ 67 SR in an innings where run rate was 2.5, but I have seen the game today :(
 
Sarfraz has made sure that the only way Pakistan wins this game is by bowling out NZ for under 260 here. What a pathetic batting display and the declaration even more so.

Won't, rather he'll get murdered if there is slight movement. I am his fan also, but not blind fanatic - I have seen him batting at 3 in AUS, and by any stress of imagination, those were not typical faster Aussie wickets.

He is a good batsman in making, keep it to that level before facing Styen & Rabad on faster wickets.

Whatever, but seriously they are only going to win match because they won toss, I saw yesterday 2 session, on a wicket which was not spinning big or don't have any seam movement, they didn't go anywhere.
I can understand if a wicket is turning square or wicket is green mamba but on this track this was a timid approach.
Thank your god that you have a Yasir the great league, who will turn this match on his head and make this negative batting look like gold

I can see them tuk tukking in the 3rd inns unnecessarily then trying to up the anti and collapsing, leaving Newz in the hunt till the end.

The logical thing to have done was to go for it in the 1st inns here when there isn't any pressure. Strange to say the least.

I am not watching the game but I think Mickey declared..., if sarfaraz had plans of declaring he would have tried to up the run rate
 
There is nothing in the pitch. The pitch is super flat. Our batsmen played defensively because they are not capable to play with positive mindset. Be prepare to get big score from NZ
 
PAK should look to preserve pacers energy for old ball on this wicket. Today is fine, 10 overs left, but tomorrow Yasir has to bowl a lonnnnnng spell from one end.
 
Pakistan lost just 1 wicket in the whole day. This pitch is dead and a road. NZ would have to bat really poorly to not score 400 here as well. Pakistan's 3rd innings implosion is a given once NZ passes 418!!!
 
This is unbelievable and pathetic captaincy by Sarfraz.

We have seen time and time again why Sarfraz should be stripped of captaincy and kicked out from the team.

Any one with little bit of knowledge will tell you that you must accelerate before declaring when you have five wickets left.

We worked so hard to get those runs and bat New Zealand out of the game but Sarfraz just brought them in the game by declaring early. If this was the plan then why on earth did they not only aggressively before declaring.

He should be sacked immediately but my worry is that we may still win this match and this decision will be brushed aside.

Sarfraz must go. He is not fit to be a leader and his batting was complete disgrace today.
 
Sarfraz: We will not repeat 1st Tests mistakes in the 2nd Test. Instead we will create new ones.

Aussies play aggressive cricket which doesn't suit such slow wickets, still he didn't get a single wicket on last Day of Dubai Test. Abu Dhabi wicket is gripping lot more than usual in both Tests, but Dubai is absolute disgrace.
 
Looks like Hafeez bhai has got threatened with his own batting - trying to clutch on to all-rounder's route again? Inzi will need his support (of bowling) here after his batting display since that century.

Every other time pakistan has batted 1st and batted 140+ overs in UAE they have got 500 at a run rate of 3+ . To score 400 in 5.5 sessions is pathetic.
 
If Pakistan doesn't get kiwis bowled out tomorrow. The match will most likely end up in a draw
 
This match has proven how badly rattled Pakistan are by the nature of the defeat in the first game.
 
I thought Pakistan will bat 7 sessions, score 600 runs and declare or get all out. Not sure why and how they decided to declare this early without trying to get some quick runs.

Stupid declaration, should have scored 600 and avoid batting 2nd time altogether, this doesn't make any sense, unless they are super confident of bowling NZ out 2 times for around 400ish score but again if NZ set a target of 100 pak will struggle batting last.
 
Most demoralising & bore feasting Test in a weekend when F1 is in UAE. There can’t be a worse advertisement of Test cricket.

No, if PAK really win this Test, it’ll make not tell how stupid PAK Managment is - almost allowed Kiwis a back door to save this Test. By any logic, you can’t defend 418-5d in 167 overs, specially when captain himself was in middle for last 15 overs. And, this is after trailing 0-1 in a 3 Test series.

Not everyone cries even when Pak do well. Pak bat deep and long - tears. Pak don't declare- tears. Pak declare- lots of tears.

As usual people are too judgemental on a Test match inside 2 days.

Be patient, this wicket will suit Yasir Shah if he bowls straight and tight as well as reverse swing coming into play later on.

New Zealand are on the back foot and they have to dig very hard even to get a draw from this stage.
 
It will not be easy for Pak playing a very good and fighting team. Latham, Taylor are due and Williamson has one big inning this series to deliver. Pak did well to pile up enough runs to give them something to bowl at. I would hope they can take 120 to 150 lead and then bat again setting stiff target for kiwis.
