New Zealand [245/6] beat South Africa [241/6] by 4 wickets in 25th match of 2019 World Cup

South Africa ran India close defending 228, NZ struggled to chase 245 vs Bangladesh. All is not lost.

Miller has been rubbish this wc
a guy with his hitting ability has been an under achiever

Phehlukwayo is a smart bowler and should fancy bowling in this pitch, he should come in next. Miller has lost his touch

Who would have though that South Africa will one day become an average team struggling for talent? Unfortunately kolpak has really killed them. However the good news is that with Brexit, no South African player will be able to take advantage of the kolpak rules anymore.

Boult such a nice guy, making sure he's ok. That's like genuine, comes from the heart unlike Wood who kept going for the head against Afghan batsman after hitting him

Really like the look of Van der Dussen, a tough and gritty batsman who's paid his dues in domestic cricket.

Phehlukwayo is a proper all rounder unlike the Fake Swag Trio of Imad, Shadab and Fahim.

That was one of Ferguson's worst deliveries but gets a wicket nonetheless.

U cant blame shadab he hasnt been given a proper run. Plus he is young, i still think they should have persisted with Fahim he was bowling well. Unfair to drop him when he was with the team for last 2 yrs.

Who would have thought selecting domestic performers will pay dividends, I thought selecting players from domestic T20s after a flash-in-the-pan performance was the secret to success. That's the model Inzi the revolutionary seems to be following :inzi2

A bat and ball average of 31/29 is brilliant for an allrounder.

However we invested two years in a seam bowling AR who ended up with figures of 12/37...

I don't know whether to laugh or cry

He has been given a proper run and averages 50 with the ball v top teams.

We need proper spinners not bits and pieces.

Another dropped catch

Our fielding isn't as good as it use to be, we have a few errors in us.

Not sure what Morris's notable international performances are other than a matchwinning cameo I think v England in an ODI in 2016.

Taking pace off the ball seems key on this wicket. Tahir will play a vital role for SAF.

Great batting from VDD. That's defendable if SAF put in a disciplined bowling effort.

This will be a good second innings to watch.

Pitch looks tough.

Tahir will be crucial for South Africa.

Pitch looks tough, 240 will be tough to chase here.

Just watched the last couple of overs now, terrible wicket. You need to score heavily upfront. Once the balls are old it looks difficult to time the ball. Imran Tahir the key for SA here.

MMHS what do you reckon about this game ?

242 in 49 overs - I guess SAF would have been happy with another 10-12 may be (from that start, otherwise every team will be happier with 500+) - Markram's untimely wicket cost them 15 runs at least and probably the match. But, SAF kept IND honest with 230ish target on a better surface - if it's a bit cloudy at Birmingham, I think SAF are well in this game; it'll take some effort for Kiwis to win it.
