What's new

New Zealand (249 & 140/2) defeat India (217 & 170) by 8 wickets to win WTC Final

That means we will make only 82 in next 36 overs? I don't think that's possible, if we play 35 overs we will definitely make 120 or 130.

I am assuming that only 90 overs will be possible due to over rate. Add 2 overs for change, so 88-25-40= 23 overs.

Thanks to Kohli & his side kick Shastri, we have never been this poor in batting. However on the flip side, our bowling has come up by leaps and bounds since Kohli took over.

Forget about every damn thing.

Just look to cover 20 run targets.

Simple, easy, baby steps.

20
20
20

Before we know it, things would have changed so much.

No jeed yo go ultra defensive or aggressive.

Just play the ball to its merit and if something is there to be smash it ....just do it.

There will come a time to be ultra aggressive and that's when you take the game away from the opposition.

One thing that Indians should learn from this finals & all the overseas tours prior to this is - Give respect to preparation, planning & selection! Without this it is impossible to perform to the fullest of the potential in alien conditions... This is the reason why we lost even though we were competitive & close in most games/series... Even the famous win in last Australian tour was no different. We were down, dusted (36 a/o) and only because the series was longer we could make a comeback!

If we make adequate preparation & planning, the results will improve further...

The problem with Pujara, Kohli and Rahane...they all do just enough but never enough to win the games.

Inconsistent as hell.

Thats why we are struggling so much in SENA.

Add 2 unpredictable openers to the mix, and hence our batting is in shambles.

Wondering if India will be brave enough here to try and force a possible win.

And how are we going to achieve that? By planning IPL before important tours? Or by throwing in key players like Ishant and Bumrah in IPL just before an important tour? Can you please elaborate? :inti

NZ bowled only 25 overs in last session. Very poor over rate considering circumstances.

The key to a solid batting lineup is someone or the other putting up their hand and playing a DECISIVE knock.

No one does it in ours.

All cute little knocks here and there.

We saw it in SA 2018, Eng 2018 (except Kohli and 2 Pujara knocks), Aus 2018 (except Pujara and 1 Kohli knock), Aus 2020 (except Rahane ton in Melbourne....plus lower order was beyond gun that series - youngsters truly stepped up).

Its been a problem for a long long time.

With this 'batting' lineup, we dared to go with 5 batsmen!

Well done Kohli!

6th batsman will make no difference! On the contrary giving different responsibility (like Vihari at No.3) can possibly bring some change...

Pujara has been an insane clutch bat for us over the years.

But he isn't the same anymore.

He used up all his remaining ounce of will-power to play a critical role for the Aus 2020 series.

Doubt he has more left in him.

Regardless...it's only fair to ask him to fix whatever issues he has if he wants to play.

Averages 20s in India.

Struggles to score runs in SENA.

Rahane...what can I say about him. Looks solid. and then BAM...gets out of nowhere.

Kohli is Kohli. Obviously super talented and accomplished. But there is no solidity or predictability.

Can expect a 50 or 100 from him in first innings in SENA (not all games).....almost nothing in second innings.

Goes missing in important games in India. Only 2016 Eng series, he clicked in crucial moments and games.

BJ Watling dislocated his right ring finger in the first session and has received medical treatment during the lunch break before returning to the field.

*Rahane - Weak against spin but seems like figured out a way to play it like Ganguly did against short pitched stuff.

He has improved a bit last year or two.

But same ol Rahane.

Soft dismissal king.

Prefer Jaddu facing Wagner.

Don't want Pant to take the bait.

Almost feathered to Watling.

Pant is our trump card. We need him against others.

Hopefully Jaddu faces Wagner and plays off.

Just change the coach, a proper plan will evolve... It is not about IPL...

looks like any demons in this pitch from the morning are disappearing, these two look a lot more comfortable or are they just applying themselves better

lol, as if 5th bowler made any difference.

Rishabh Pant Batting average in Tests:

On Day 1- 83.00
Day 2 - 53.50
Day 3 - 23.88
Day 4 - 22.80
Day 5 (and 6) - 94.00

BJ Watling dislocated his right ring finger in the first session and has received medical treatment during the lunch break before returning to the field

Wish our next batting coach has highlight Pant's innings and show our so-called over-hyped youngsters how to play under pressure. Haider, Imam.. etc

Again Wagner almost gets Pant.

You can predict this from a long long way :))

Damn Panty. Take a single against Wagner.

Thanks to Kohli & his side kick Shastri, we have never been this poor in batting. However on the flip side, our bowling has come up by leaps and bounds since Kohli took over.

Since the start of 2018, India's 9-11 batsmen average 21 runs-per-Test. That's the worst of any side in the world.

I think Pant has potential to be next Kohli is batting at no. 3 or 4.

BJ Watling is keeping despite a dislocated right ring finger. This is his last day in Test cricket. Massive respect.

Yeah, our tail is beyond any hope. That's why its imperative to beef up our top & middle over batting. If they don't perform, we are toast.

The key here is for India to bat until the second new ball at 80 overs.

If they survive until then they will lead by 160, with 48 overs left in the game.

But if they manage to bat until 85 overs, they will lead by 175 with 43 overs left, which is a position they cannot lose from.

Poor choice of tactics from the Kiwis her,e bowling short and inaccurate is not going to help anyone, if the aim is to be lucky enough to take a top edge or glove. Jamieson should know better, his best balls this match have been full, not short or back of a length.

Nz are in defensive mode.
They cant get wickets with T20 field set.

As I said, they will likely bottle it here. India probably only need about 70 or 80 more runs and I thikn they should declare and mop up the Kiwis for about 100.

Go Jaddu.

This is the way to go.

Can't stress how good batting this is.

The most exciting defensive play in the game haha.

One of these 2 bowlers will eventually be removed and we will attack then.

Wagner giving it all. That guy is true madman.

Ashwin would have defo tried something stupid against Wagner.

You can maybe luck your way into a boundary or two...but eventually luck will run out.

Of course.

Just about it now.

No bowler is truly great unless he masters Asia and does well in tough SENA nations.

In Australia tall bowlers do well generally. Lets see. He is exciting and can bat as well.
If he continues like this and performs across the world, next ATG allrounder in the making.

Only if they extract something out of the pitch.

But yeah....Jamieson right now can't put a step wrong.

ATG AR in the making.

Unreal performance.

In fact, I thought we got lucky with his dismissal. Had he stayed for 20 more mins, we would have lost the test by now.

Wagner gets Jaddu.

After surviving the tough deliveries, this was an okayish delivery.

Jaddu needn't have followed that one.

NZ with a great chance here. It should be easy to chase 150 here.
