New Zealand (402 & 110/2) secure a comprehensive 8 wicket win against India (46 & 462) in the first Test to lead the 3-match series 1-0

Read first few pages of this thread and we ( including me) thought kiwis had no chance.

Only @sweep_shot believed they could do it.

Still a bit of work to do but should they get over the line it will be a monumental victory against the odds.

Lol he is belive any team can win against india when they Play each time. Tukka lag jata h kabhi kabhi.

Lol at this loldeep being compared with prime ash and jadeja. Like its so easy to do well in Asia. Warne averaged 40 plus in India too.

Loldeep is a joke on any non flat pitches.

When SarfPant were playing, I thought India had a chance of winning, until of course the new ball was taken.

good batting by Ravindra....what a star

Will young looks like a good prospect himself...

Match should be over soon.....

The DEMONS termites default territory, traffic loading....

Rachin feels at home in India. Specially Bangalore which is kinda like his home.

New Zealand have found a future player who will perform in Indian conditions

Stinker of a test match for Rohit as a captain. Misread the pitch, played 3 spinners and dropped Akashdeep.

Anyway, very happy for Rachin Ravindra. His father is a friend and known to many Indian fans for over the years.

Have Rachin & Travis Head got personal beef with India.. always thrashing them.

Well played, NZ. Congratulations. Heads have to roll . Can't lose to NZ at home and have no consequences.

4-1 to Aussies probably.

It will be difficult for us to even win 1 test match in Australia this time. They are venting after last 2 series and will prepare pitches that will not favour India which is only fair. At max we can draw one test but looking difficult to win.

And played walking wicket KL Rahul

Australian batting line up is not the same anymore. They lost to West Indies. Warner has retired and Smith hasn't looked at his best for a while.

Congrats NZ. They played like champions and deserved to win unlike the Bengali kittens that gave us a bore fest...

Now to the positive our one and only Champion KL Rahul may have played his final match for India 😂

Gill will replace Rahul next innings probably. Axar Patel will need to be slotted in somehow in place of Kuldeep. Other players are undroppable I guess.

That guy I tell you. I was one of his fan once upon a time. Boy, I was so wrong.

Love the way he gets out cheaply every game and shakes in head while going back as if that was a rare failure 😂
In a such batting talent rich country. He has some luck. Captains and management keeps backing him

To be fair, India put up a respectable fight after the 1st day disaster.

But they should seriously reconsider KL Rahul's spot moving forward cause he's never had it. I've been saying this since his debut and India has enough batting talent to not carry someone like this in the XI.

As for NZ, Rachin is the real deal for them and he is going to be a proper thorn in India's side for the remaining Tests. The guy knows how to bat in these conditions.

Very happy for Kiwis. Well deserver victory. Bring on the 2nd test

Day 5: 1st Session - New Zealand won by 8 wkts

IND 46 & 462

NZ 402 & 107/2 (27.4) CRR: 3.87

Can you believe Rahul has played 52 test matches, 31 years old and is still been backed as a prospective talent. Always given best of batting spots, other players move up and down so that he can bat at his chose place but yet he fails.

Gambhir has a poor start in his coaching career - won the T20 series but lost the ODI leg in SL, beat BD in 2 match test series but now dropped a home test against Kiwis.

Very average so far.

Congratulations to NZ team and fans - fantastic victory!

commiserations to indian team and fans....

after 46 AO you are always catching up....no matter how hard you try, and that said i thought our guys showed good spirit and fought hard, never backed down....There never was a -ve moment or if our guys didnt try hard enough....

There will be recrimininations as there shoudl be when we get such an epic towelling....

In India its very rare you win the toss and put the batsman in, that sort of thing normally happens in headingley, WACA, a spicy Joburg, newlands, Gabba, Wellington, chch, Hamilton kind of places but rarely India.

I'd blame our guys capituation at 46 , couldnot even last two full sessions and again collapse in the 2nd dig...where as we failed to hit our lengths when we bowled in the first dig.

A lot of things happened here that were the outlier, Ashwin not at his best, jazza bowling too short, Jadz not good enough....but i gues KL was a standout failure and i guess Gill would be back with Akash replacing Siraj and possibly Akshar for Kulli.

The die hard indian fan would still look at the positives - our guys tried hard, will learn and move on.

The crowd was always fantastic, even after the rains and 46 AO they kept filling the ground in expectation of witnessing some magic, and i believe they did view some and more...

Lastly, NZ - Awesome performance, you'd think turning up without KW - it would be so -ve but they played fab and in O'rourke and Rachin, 2 stars for the future.

Beating BD at home is no achievement to speak about. So far Gambhir is mostly sound bytes to media, nothing much of substance in terms of results.

It's absolutely ridiculous considering the batting talent that comes through India.

I can't believe he's played that many Tests.

Rahul must have serious backing within the team leadership and they're banking on his "talent" to deliver. His particular case almost sounds Pakistani-esque, where they look at limited-overs performances and assume they will transfer to Test cricket.

Not just Rahul. Kohli averages in mid '30s during last 4 years. He is another one who mostly goes under the radar on the pretext of being a great test bat. However, his test average is now 48, entering the realms of a good test bat, not great, certainly not ATG.

India should NOT be bowled out for 46 or whatever it was at home.

Heads should roll for that decision.

You guys are a bit unlucky that because BGT is round the corner the selectors may not be too brave....but the skipper lost the game with that decision and many of the senior batsmen were embarrassing.

But after seeing this Aussies will be licking their lips for sure.

New Zealand Register Historic Win Over India, Take 1-0 Lead
New Zealand clinched an eight-wicket victory over India in the first Test of their three-match series in Bengaluru, thanks to a solid partnership between Rachin Ravindra and Will Young.

Chasing a target of 107, the team stumbled early, losing skipper Tom Latham for a duck. However, a steady 17 from Devon Conway and an unbeaten 45 from Will Young steered the game back in their favor. Despite Conway’s departure, New Zealand cruised to their target with ease as Rachin Ravindra's unbeaten 39 sealed the win.

For India, Jasprit Bumrah took two wickets, while Sarfaraz Khan and Rishabh Pant scored 150 and 99, respectively. This marks New Zealand's first Test victory in India since 1988.

Do you think Rohit and management were overconfident? Batting first on seaming conditions

Moreover he's a bit of a mental midget. Crumbles under pressure often

36 years stunning, more than my age definitely Kiwis greatest win overseas

Congratulations to NZ for a well deserved win. They have exposed India's weakness in Tests and other teams would look to make the most of it as well. Australia would be planning for preparing similar kind of pitches in Perth, Brisbane and Adelaide. Not good time coming for Indian batters because once the ball becomes old, they will have to deal with Lyon also.

Rachin Ravindra is a superstar and has potential to become NZ's best batsman alongside Martin Crowe and Kane Williamson.

Congratulations, NZ.

They have given many arrogant Indian fans a good reality check.

I think Kiwis can win 2-1 or draw 1-1 eventually.

Not sure..the kiwis also said they were thinking of batting first. It was a bad choice but doesn't justify how badly they batted
I guess in hindsight it looks bad because they got out so cheaply. If they would've gotten like 200 maybe the game would've shaped differently

Indian fans deserve this humiliation.

17 wickets lost for 100 runs. Oh my.

Rohit Sharma speaking, after losing first Test against New Zealand, in a press-conference:

"I said it at the press conference after day 2, we knew it'd be a challenge, with overcast conditions and tricky pitch. We didn't think we'll be 46 all out but due credit to NZ. It set us back and games like this will happen.”

"Gotta take the good things forward. We've been here before, conceding home losses; these things happen. Two Tests to go, we know what it takes and will give it all in the next two Tests.”

"It was a good effort in the second innings with the bat. We knew what lies ahead, get as many as possible. A couple of guys stood out, was great to watch. When you're 350 behind, you can't think too much. Just have to try and bat the ball and see where the game goes. Was exciting to watch partnerships get us into the game.”

"We could've easily been bowled under 350, it's something we're proud of. Everyone's on the edge of their seats when Pant and Sarfaraz bat. Pant's was a mature innings; he's done it for a while, and he played his shots too. Sarfaraz was very clear and mature in just his third or fourth Test."

Test defeats at home for India each year:

2013: 0 (6 mat)
2015: 0 (4 mat)
2016: 0 (8 mat)
2017: 1 (8 mat)
2018: 0 (3 mat)
2019: 0 (5 mat)
2021: 1 (6 mat)
2022: 0 (2 mat)
2023: 1 (4 mat)
2024: 2* (8 mat)

Why?? Its a game of cricket anything can happen. If you've even played gully cricket- you would know that. Heads should roll?? Rofl.. for what?? Yes a couple of players may be dropped and that's it. Dont want it to be like a pak pcb clown show where you change the captain selectors pcb chief like throwing out daily trash.

Just the 3rd lloss in 34 tests at home- thats some mindboggling stat..was not aware of that.. don't think any country can come near that.. I'm actually surprised by that. Thats utter dominance. Hats off to them. Yea let the BGT come up- will be exciting. Klrahul needs to be dropped for good.

Arrogant?? Unlike tiger fans i guess lol.. Reality check?? Its a game - anyone can lose. 18 test series wins at home - thats utter dominance. And even this test - ind had a chance at winning after being blown out for 46.. Get that? You had your biases make a mockery. :genius

If kiwis win the series- good for them. Will be a remarkable one. Wont be easy Ind thumping Ban. NZ have to play out of their skins as Ind will come back with a vengeance.

Australia played 68 tests at home between the period of 97/98 to 08 and lost only 4 matches.
