New Zealand (402 & 110/2) secure a comprehensive 8 wicket win against India (46 & 462) in the first Test to lead the 3-match series 1-0

Anyway, never say never.
Dude, if you are craving for a triple century look no further than our western neighbor. They are always happy to oblige by conceding one or two every series. For all you know they might be conceding one today.

Anyone from Benglauru that can provide the update. One request guys. SOme nobodies will try to turn match thread into a cesspool. Don't let that happen.
Raining non stop at my place for 2 days straight.

The ground can easily be prepared within an hour or so but the rains showing no sign of relenting

The sad part of this is even if we do get 2-3 days worth playing time, NZ are not a bunch of talentless midgets who are only good at being doormats for the bigger teams like the 'Deshis.

Shame

Don’t forget that this very ‘greatest ever attack’ was taken down not once but twice in the last decade by India. They are not as invincible as they are made out to be.
that just means our batting was just too good. pant is a generational talent. and better than gilly too.
before the oz fans here have a cry.

what do you mean. they are in a coalition now. dint you hear? east and west coast brothers have joined.
afghans dont want to join them though. cause they dont care about them.

lankans well they are on the rise anyway.

hell we may see india/aus vs lanka final.
or even SA they still have a shot.

It's raining terribly in Bengaluru past few days (A friend lives there). Its been cloudy and gloomy for days

Yes Pant is better then Gilly, in the same way I'm hotter then chris Hemsworth.

Indian fan have totally lost it. Your brisbane, no your aussie stay is now cancelled. Go back to India 😭😭

still drizzling so covers stay put. It is going to be a washout.

I am Oz as f but indian roots. So got to support india.
Support Oz in other sports.
But yes it's sad. Pant > gilly by the time pant retires.

Tulla gilchrist averages a mediocre pathetic 28 in India.
And only 40 in lanka
And like 40 England.
What a tulla salah.

Just wait till pant retires. It will be over for gilly

Idc about your Indian roots. You left the homeland to come here. You gotta decide to stay loyal to the place where you have chosen.

That is the duty of every passport holder when they take the oath

Nha i can support whoever I want. Original Aussies are Aboriginals. That's it. No one else in be called a True Ozzie..

Just cause a saffer or. Kiwi lived in aus with aus passport doesn't mean he will support aus against his motherland. Even if they are born in Australia it makes no difference. It all depends on your ethnicity.

Bro I'm kidding. Smh. Obviously you can support whoever. Just having a bit of fun that's all

For their own standards, England have given away a hundred more than they should have.

Why does Rishad have a beard like he's jetting off to Afghanistan to join Taliban. Suspicious beard.

Ahh the Tebbit test, only applied to Asians...Ever asked a 3rd generation Italian in Scotland or Melbourne, why they support Italia in football?
I was just messing around man. Not being serious. Chill

I am chilled mate, just annoyed in general that "sport patriotism" is applied only to Asian whether be it England or Ozland.
I don't care about patriotism. I support whoever I like. I like ronaldo but that doesn't mean I'm born in Portugal.

I support whoever I wish.

Me Banglore cousin said was planning to go tommorow but stalled - app says 50% chance of rain but clearing in mid aft...maybe we might have 2 session tommorow

Went to the ground anyway. Decent crowd given the atmospheric situation and they were cheering the freaking groundsmen - everytime they'd walk in on the ground.

Another observation - no matter how many times I visit the chinnaswamy it always shocks me how small the playing area is - truly postage stamp sized.

Persistent rain forced the abandonment of the first day's play in the inaugural Test match between India and New Zealand on Wednesday. The decision to call off play was made at 2:34 PM after heavy rain resumed following a brief respite. Match officials conducted a pitch inspection around 2 PM, but significant damp areas on either side of the wicket, which had been exposed around 1:50 PM, made playing conditions unsuitable. Despite efforts to dry the field with hessian cloths, the extensive rain damage proved insurmountable.

The toss, originally scheduled for 9 AM, was also not possible due to the continuous downpour throughout the morning. A handful of spectators braved the weather, but their only highlight was seeing star batsman Virat Kohli and opener Yashasvi Jaiswal engaging in an indoor net session with assistant coach Abhishek Nayar.

The weather forecast for Thursday suggests more rain, at least until noon, which may further delay the start of the match. It is worth noting that even the practice sessions for both teams on Tuesday were disrupted by heavy rain.

Play on the second day is scheduled to commence at 9:15 AM, with the toss set for 8:45 AM, weather permitting.

Yeah. All the older grounds have a pretty small playing area - Kotla, Wankhede etc.

With intermittent rain forcast for next 2 days, i feel we will go in with same XI as @ Kanpur against BD.

Same combo of 3 pace 2 spin

What do the great minds think?

Indore is another that is pretty small. so is Kotla - that safed hathi stadium with pan masal advt plastered all over its glorifed car park like structure....one of the ugliest sights in world cricket

Yeah. That seems like a good combination.

Anyway, NZ are unlikely to fold in 2-3 days.

ok. But i like the approach Gambo-ball or hitball or whatever the latest jazz is , i fully expect india to force the issue and go out blazing...high risk approach but brings either high dividends or spectacular fall....thrilling to watch nevertheless

That's what I said. Did I say anything different?

Anyway, NZ lost a Test in BD last time they toured. Series was 1-1.
Yes I agree with you that BD are worse than NZ even in subcontinent, that’s what you also said.

That's a dangerous territory. Because otherwise you are judging all the brit pakistanis who shows relentless patriotism towards Pakistan even going against England in cricket.

Fantastic news. Hopefully no rain interruption but fingers crossed.

New Zealand (Playing XI): Tom Latham(c), Devon Conway, Will Young, Rachin Ravindra, Daryl Mitchell, Tom Blundell(w), Glenn Phillips, Matt Henry, Tim Southee, Ajaz Patel, William ORourke

Quite a gutsy decision to bat.Almost like Headingly 2002.Hope it pays off. This challenege will definitely prep us for bgt on spicier tracks. If we win this match, it will bring that invincibility feeling to the team atleast in home and nz will be whitewashed for sure.

So Kulli in for Akash - What do the PP great minds think?
Before winning the toss i would have been 50/50 but looking at wicket- expected to aid spin and the fact we've won toss and are batting, i feel correct decision.
We have to do the early running and hope our guys come out firing.
P.S my banglore cousin says rain in the air and raining about 30kms away from stadium

Just beats me why don't we have accompanying music whenever national anthem is played, it adds on to the atmosphere and would be such a welcome addition

India playing 3 spinners like Pakistan as well. 😎

Henry is very different bowler ,he can Bowl 3-4 wayward deliveries but suddenly produced a wicket taking delivery.

Rohit and his pads against new ball. A story as old as time. But what a lucky escape for Rohit.

nz umesh yadav outside nz but like malcolm marshall in home conditions
umesh is malcolm marshall in sub continent. but a kachada dabba outside asia

Good bowling by Henry- what a terrific ball- umpires call...

What a terrific moment for young namma Kannada Sahodara Rachin Ravindra, to represent his nation and play in the city where his antecedents come from....

As an Indian fan though, i sincerely hope our guys roast him on ice when he bats, bowls or fields :)

on the field he is an enemy. so doesnt matter. outside everyone can touch butts and play tag.

Rohit Sharma vs Tim Southee across formats
inns: 33
Runs: 237
Balls: 330
Dismissals: 12
Avg: 19.75
SR: 71.81

Gavaskar is trying max not to highlight Rohit's tentativeness.if rohit bats like this on spicy tracks,it's better to bring a new opener atleast after bgt.

If VK also goes cheapely, expect every indian negative nancy agenda or other wise , who were chirping away like ants intheir pants when Bangladesh had us 6 down for not so many in the first test first day at Chennai and conveniently missing on threads on all the other days across two tests, to crawl out of the woodwork like the termites they really are, and download their cranial matter here.

Never seen such a tough batting condition in recent times. NOt even in SA. This is seaming, swinging corner, bouncing.
