What's new

New Zealand beat Bangladesh by 67 runs in the 2nd ODI

It isn't just Auckland, a lot of the multipurpose grounds are really small with short boundaries throughout.

I am tired of people banging on about how small our multipurpose grounds. I know it is difficult for SC fans to understand, but cricket is not that popular in NZ, it is a minority sport and isn't considered popular enough to warrant significant government spending for big stadiums.

Despite this, we have had a few decent sized grounds in NZ which are acceptable (Hagley Oval and Bay Oval) and allow for fans to sit on the banks to watch the cricket.

There's no doubt Guptill is horrible against the moving ball, but it is silly to question his striking ability, he doesn't need small grounds to clear the fence and rarely do you see Guptill top edging or mistiming sixes..

I hear you. Obviously its unrealistic to ask for spending on stadium expansions for the purposes of cricket. However at the very least, one fix can be for the boundaries to be pushed as far back as possible.

I know grounds argue there needs to be space between the ropes and the advertising hoardings for sake of player safety - but when there's so many cameras, tripods and speakers littered around the boundary, that isn't always true. That's not just for NZ ODIs, but ODIs everywhere. With the density of material used in modern bats making them more powerful, the ball travel further and quicker so its not as if that'd be unfair on batsmen.

Another is for more sporting pitches. This one seems like a decent one to be fair.

This is the main difference between Us and BCB. We keep persisting with Azhar and some useless players

:D we are also persisting with 5/6 player for more than 6/7 years :D

it's not about only changing players but picking right players and persist with them to groom :)

150 up for NZ. Congrats.

154/5 ov 36. Most expensive over of the innings by taskin.

So we have Nurul Hassan WK

What you make out of these players - Subhashish Roy , fast bowler ? I think he is a line and length outside off corridor bowler.

Subhashish is one of those players who are going through good form now. Don't think he is a long term solution, but today so far justified his selection. Nurul is the next man to fight it out with Liton after Mushi - selectors first tried with Liton, now it's his turn. Haven't seen him play, but heard that he is a good hitter & probably a bit better WK than Mushi.

Thanks for the insight.

It will be a great shame for any team to lose against a side with Tanvir Haider as does Bangladesh

I would really love to see Bangladesh win today. We bowled well need to bat well it's a good wicket, a bit of movement but it gets better to bat in the afternoon.

Our problem is we have a weak batting lineup with Mushy out.

Tamim
Imrul
Riad
Sabbir
Shakib
Mosaddek
Nurul
Tanvir haider

NZ got 30 more runs than they should have. Terrible death bowling from Bangladesh.

Tamim gave away the advantage to NZ with that unnecessary shot. The cover was close up

Man I missed Broom's hundred should've watched that instead of watching the Aussies churn away at the Pak Bowlers.

Wow where is everyone the last 10 posts have just been me and Justcrazy.

Oh that was a tough chance.

BD need to play smart cricket here , they should not let required rate to go over 6 here.

They can't lose more than 3 wickets by the 35th Over. Shakib will be their key player.

Even if they are 150/3 (35) They will still have a better chance at winning then 175/5 (35)

What a shot from Shabbir. Free hit but it wasn't even a no-ball lol.
