Pakistan in control one would think but things can change quickly!

Babar can take Pakistan to an impregnable position tomorrow - Will he comply?

Pakistan need to bat as long as possible here , no need of declaration. Hope that some rough is created , so taht Pakistan spinners get some purchase.

Latham capable of getting a double here. NZ still well in this game as they have psychological supremacy since 2016 against us.

No point winning the toss and batting first in Asia if you are not able to capitalise and score +450.

Babar need 250 and Pakistan 450+.

This is a docile pitch with New Zealand more likely to take 20 wickets

Is day two supposed to start sooner than regular schedule time?

Have a feeling that Pakistan might allow NZ to make a mini comeback and won't fully shut the door on them. Like last 5 wicket falling for 30-40 runs so not taking full advantage of the platform that was set.

Would like to be proved wrong though.

I think we got a bit over excited yesterday-
Had Babar not been reprieved in the last over I think it would have been an even day.
So we can't say NZ are massively behind.
The 2 at the crease need a partnership and we need 450+
The thing we have going when we bowl is Abrar hasn't been faced by kiwis yet.
Babar needs a daddy double please.

Either Pakistan will collapse to 350 or score 450 runs .Babar will be key if he gets out early we are doomed

Near 400 will be good by our poor standards. It should mean we don't lose the test. I feel NZ will struggle against Abrar much like England did.

Expecting babar to score double ton but looking at his past record of 2nd day batting, it looks less likely

NZ will crumble against decent spin. The only proven players of Asian spin in their lineup are KW and Tom Latham.

England had 2 bats in Ollie Pope and Ben Duckett who averaged 50 odd vs spin in the recent tour and an absolute monster in Harry Brook who averaged 180.50 vs spin. Who are the young NZ bats who can do that? Conway? I don't think so.

Babar gone, not the first time he has got out in just first few our of the new day. 400 looks difficult now.

Babar Azam has a poor habbit of playing lose shots when he starts afresh in the morning. Something missing in the brain. He keeps on making same mistakes

Akmal genes will never go away

As expected, Babar goes out early in the next day. So typical. We will now probably struggle to make 350.

With this habit he will never make 200, because he is no Warner that he can make 200 in a day.

Babar will never be a great like YK and Minadad. They were ruthless with their approach.

The team needed him today. A proper stat padder

This is really weird habbit he has, what can be the reason guys? I think Inzi too had this problem but never to this level, generally most Pak set batsman struggle next day, most like they are not fully switched on or lack of concentration i think but this is deadly habbit to have.

Actually came here to say I’ve noticed this with sooo many Pakistani test batsmen over the last few years. Forget last few years, probably 15 or more. Whoever is on a decent score almost falters and falls early the next day without adding much to the overnight total. Bizarre.

There is must be some reason to it, happens too often to ignore, it needs to be addressed, there is clear trend and pattern.

Probably has to do with our guys putting too much pressure on the numerical value of their individual scores. You remember that time around 2014-2015 when some of our guys took off helmets after a 50? These kind of extra celebrations hint to it.

Babar has shown signs, albeit different ones when he inches a milestone.

Just a theory ofc, but one that makes sense to me

Agha is useless at that position , Pakistan could have played a spin allrounder instead , someone who could really bowl.

Nauman playing pinch blocker here stifling the innings this is where Hasan Ali is missed a quick 30 from him keeps the game moving forward.

Feel you guys are tough on Agha. Early on in his career batting at 7 generally with the tail and still has a good average. Not his fault he is underused as a bowler . Cut him some slackhes not been bad in the infancy of his career

Letting the spinners get into a rhythm before the inevitable wicket falls where Afridis aggression gone.

Nauman Chachu in a blockathon frustrating the kiwis with the bat. Great mind games.

Nauman Ali with an incredible 1 run off 35 balls.

At that rate, it will only take him 3500 balls to get a century.

Pakistan just needs to score 400 tbh that’s enough for the kiwis they just need to get Tom Latham early I don’t think any of these other Batsmen will last long against abrar or nauman.

Bit harsh, poor lad came into bat when you had 19-2 and then half of the team back into dug out in first session. He saved Pak from getting humiliated in 1st innings.

Agha Salman playing some shots , He needs to bat deep here , needs to get some partnership with the tail.

Nauman, you could at least look to score a single or something on loose deliveries...

Salman is excellent against spin. Should be part of ODI middle order considering next WC is in India

Great to see NZ bring in Sodhi to be the pressure release.

There is a reason why we don't see many leg spinners in Test cricket nowadays. Most are terrible, ineffective and expensive.

good innings by babar but how many times has he got out early in the morning session after resuming his innings?

Babar seems like a kallis type of player who dont like to score big rather score many times. Kallis also had only 1 double ton in his entire career

To be honest Pakistan have done well so far , yes the run rate has been on the slower side , but if they can manage to bat long , and ball turns , batting last would not be easy.

Not much happening from the ball. Pakistan can try to score 500 runs here.
