I agree. If I was a professional cricketer I would have done the same.
 
The good news is, 430+ on the board is a long, long bat to get there.

A team can be 1/150 and still easily out for 300/350 with simply regular wickets. Scoreboard pressure doesn't disappear so easily. Two wickets and it looms again.
 
There are only phases during Pakistan test matches as per some keyboard experts on PP. When Pakistan is batting, time to praise Babar and when Pakistan is bowling, time to bash babar
 
Good thing is NZ won't bazball so Pakistan will have enough time to go at NZ on this road.

But he needs to ruthless and angry behind the stumps

Whole Pakistan team looking flat out there. No energy whatsoever!
 
I hate gritty test batsmen especially when they play against us.. so infuriating to see such good players just kill us little by little
 
Nz as solid as a rock this was expected, Pakistan to implode with ultra defensive fields

Newzealand missed the trick not wrap up Pakistani tailender before 400. If Pakistan have allout 380-390. Than that will put newzealand on fav to win this test.

PCB needs the sponsorship money. Won't be too harsh on them. Especially since broadcast rights revenues are not high because India don't tour.

Not his job to show anger, everyone including me bashed him when he was shouting at players. Babar is the team Captain he needs to lead like a lion or resign.

Yes I think so.

440 or so got Pakistan to par.

They'd have to play poorly to lose from there. Which is possible. But given that it seems very hard to take wickets on this pitch, Pakistan would have to repeat the effort of completely gifting their 3 top order wickets to sheer lunacy in the first 40 minutes again to lose. NZ have not been so silly.

If new zealand play whole day tomorrow and get arround 350 runs in 90 overs. Than they defenetely sense a win.

Still 3 days left and they are getting in the full 90 overs each time.

If New Zealand bat big then they might be able to force a win here.

Also despite Pakistan struggling for wickets so far, they can come back into contention with a good bowling session at any point.
 
Looking at fast bowlers of Pakistan in Tests, Bangladesh seems to have lot better fast bowlers. Even medicoire Indian fats bowlers like Unadkat are better.

I simply made a prediction.

A team has to screw up real badly to lose from here. Pitch is a flat pancake.

Pak don't have the bowling attack to force a collapse or to take 4 or 5 wickets quickly

To be fair, Pakistan are without their main bowlers in this Test. Shaheen is injured. Hasan was dropped.

These guys are new to the scene. Also, flat pitch doesn't help.

If you’re not new to cricket, you will know that in Test matches in the subcontinent there is often at least one chaotic innings out of the four where a lot happens quickly, and this often comes towards the end of the game.
 
Abrar is awful i knew that already but because the english gifted him wickets he shall remain for the year. The less said about chacha Nauman the better. We literally have no spinners coming ..nor any fast bowlers or any batters full stop!!

Only Shaheen is world class, Hasan Ali is going downhill from sometime.
Taskin, Ebadot and Khaled are good bowlers for BD, way better if you compare.
The pitches may be flat (its PCB's decision) but they should create some impact as England bowlers did on same pitches.

That's true for spin-friendly pitches. Not flat pancake pitches. Again, there can be exceptions sometimes.

I watch cricket since 1997.

Khaled is garbage. Ebadot is hit or miss. Taskin is good.

Almost all teams are ordinary without 4-5 key players. Just look at India. They almost dropped a Test in Bangladesh (along with losing the ODI series 1-2).

Playing without Shaheen is always likely to be challenging for Pakistan considering most of their pacers are new to international cricket.

Pakistan are dearly missing Shaheen,

NZ are dearly missing Hasan Ali.

Well BD won a test in NZ with that attack, dont expect the same from Pakistan.
Look at the team selection, no doubt India lost to BD. Plus BD are good at home, better teams have lost.
India won comfortably in first test, bad selection got them to almost lose the test. And again this is away from Home in classic spinning pitches in BD. India will comfortably beat Australia at home.

Still the Indian fast bowlers are taking wickets, how many have pakistani fast bowlers taken?

On evidence, BD pace unit looks better than Pakistan pace unit without Shaheen in Tests. In spin unit it is significantly better unless Abrar continues his improvement. Overall BD bowling unit > Pakistan bowling unit without Shaheen. Pakistan can still have wood over BD even with ordinary players. But if both teams bowl to same opposition there is a good chance BD bowling does better marginally.

Where did all the 150k+ bowlers go? Pakistan seemed to have them by buckets not long ago. They are playing trundlers now.

4 over specialists. There is no one remotely close to someone like Nortje who was averaging close to 148kp against Australia today.
 
I would rather have Bangladesh bowlers than what we have at the moment.

I knew our bowling stocks were going through a decline but never thought I'd see the day where I'd be saying the above.
 
We need to be patient with the team and people need to stop blaming even the pitches on babar azam. Pakistans team total experience is 182 test matches and 4 bowlers have a total experience of 20 test matches. There is no leader of pakistan bowling attack and who is the bowling coach?

Southee is playing 89th , williamson is playing 89th , wagner is playing 60th ,nicholls is playing 49th.

NZ is far superior team than this pakistani team in any conditions.

We dont have players at the moment to compete well. They need to get experience for the next 3 4 years.

Tbh haris has a bad fall and got injured , shaheen shah was already injured and naseem shah got injured too. Pakistan made a mistake and didnt play a warm up match before the test matches begun right after t20 world cup. England played against england lions in uae and we were busy treating ourselces with biryani and kababs.

This current pak attack is the worst of all nations

Honestly, most county clubs in England and even clubs have better attacks
 
It was stupidity to rely on spin against Australia, England and now NZ when you don't have quality spinners and the pitches are no where near close to the spinning midfields of India.

Pakistan's only chance was a green wicket like we see in our domestic cricket but no one in our team management had the balls to accept the challenge
 
NZ will win.

Latham will get a double like I predicted.

Babar can only score on the fattest pitches.

Australia are likely to defeat Pakistan on a green top easily.

Pakistan no longer have Asif-Amir-Gul.

Defeat doesn't matter, we are losing anyways but you need to make pitches conducive to your bowling attack. On a green wicket the contest becomes 50-50

New Zealand openers Devon Conway and Tom Latham blunted Pakistan bowlers to guide their side to a solid 165 without loss at close on the second day of the first Test in Karachi on Tuesday. Conway became the fastest New Zealand batter to complete 1,000 runs in his 11th Test when he reached 82 at close and was ably supported by Latham who was unbeaten on 78.

The tourists are now 273 runs behind Pakistan's first innings total of 438 which was spiced up by a brilliant maiden hundred from middle-order batter Agha Salman. Conway, the South African born left-hander who migrated to New Zealand to boost his career, was lucky to survive a caught behind dismissal on 57 off spinner Nauman Ali.

Pakistan did not challenge home umpire Aleem Dar's not out decision but television replays showed the batter had edged the ball. Before Conway, John Reid had reached 1,000 career runs in 12 Tests in 1985.

Conway has so far struck 12 boundaries while Latham has eight hits to the rope. The highlight of Pakistan's batting was 103 by Salman, who anchored the innings after skipper Babar Azam fell in the first over of the day without adding to his overnight score of 161.

Fast bowler Tim Southee forced an edge off Azam's bat to wicketkeeper Tom Blundell to give a kickstart to New Zealand. Azam struck 16 boundaries and a six in his 365-minute knock.

Pakistan also lost Nauman (seven) and Mohammad Wasim (two) in the first session, which produced just 60 runs. Salman added 54 runs for the seventh wicket before New Zealand took two wickets in the space of three runs.

Pacer Neil Wagner had Nauman caught off a short-pitched delivery before Wasim was caught behind off spinner Ish Sodhi. Salman then cut loose, hitting two successive boundaries off Sodhi to complete three figures. His previous best of 62 was against Sri Lanka at Galle in July.

Southee, who finished with 3-69, finally ended the innings by trapping Salman leg before, completing 350 wickets in his 89th Test. He is the third New Zealand bowler behind Richard Hadlee (431 in 86 Tests) and Daniel Vettori (362 in 113) to take 350 or more wickets in Tests. Salman hit 17 boundaries during his 155-ball knock.

Ajaz Patel, Michael Bracewell and Sodhi took two wickets apiece. The two-match Test series is New Zealand's first in Pakistan since 2002.
