What's new

New Zealand, England or Australia - who will be the most competitive in India?

This has to be Australia's greatest win in a decade. No one gave them absolutely any chance, and they produced an incredibly special performance.

No matter what happens from here on, they have earned the respect of the cricket world. Steve Smith is a legend.

Anyone predicted Aus to be the most competitive in this thread?

Yes I had ... in post # 20

1. Australia - they have now had the experience of playing in SL and they have a decent spinners
2. Eng -- They will have had experience in BD before visiting India
3. NZ -- Now that Southee is out their chances have further diminished.

Who would have thought Aus would give us the most competition?

Aussies are gonna come with a solid team next year and give the toughest competition I think.

I think they have realized Lyon will mostly be a no show in Asian pitches and bring in other spinners.

They also have a couple batsmen who did well in India during A tour.

Plus their aggressive game cannot be discounted.

England is always a threat but I feel if they don't bring solid spinners for our tour and our batsmen are in form, they will be mercilessly ripped apart this time.

We kind of did.

Tusker was more emphatic in his prediction.

Still a shock to me. After England 4-0, I didn't give Aus much of a chance though.

Technically, you can consider me as well, but my post came after ENG finished their job, so no credit. However, I did post a possible formation for Aussies to win a Test, which is almost accurate by words.

We might see the OZ team of old - destroying opponents everywhere.

Well, I got it horribly wrong. Thought England would be the most competitive. Can't believe how fanciful that notion was considering they had Moeen and Rashid as their front line spinners. Shows what I know.

The three additions of Renshaw, Handscomb and O'Keefe has dramatically altered the mentality of the Australians in contrast to the trough they had reached in Hobart.

Credit to Australia, they have prepared well for this tour. Smith has shown what a class act he is. Handscombe and Renshaw have shown they belong at this level.

Good signs for Australian cricket .
