What's new

New Zealand (286/3) smoke India (284/7) by 7 wickets in the 2nd ODI to level the series at 1-1

Can't believe you stretched it so far....may be you need to revisit what you are claiming. Come back again after some time

Siraj has only taken 1 top order wicket this series whereas Prasidh and Harshit have taken 3 top order wickets each. Heck even Arshdeep would've been better with the new ball

Hahah...I won't argue much if you would put likes of Harshit and Prasidh express over him. You are entitled to your opinion

Mitchell hits century as New Zealand beat India

Daryl Mitchell hit a superb unbeaten century as New Zealand levelled their one-day international series against India with a seven-wicket win in Rajkot.

Mitchell put on a 162-run partnership with Will Young (87) and finished the match with an elaborate scooped four while falling backwards.

The 34-year-old, who hit 84 in the first match of the series, brought up his eighth one-day international hundred from 96 balls.

He came to the crease with New Zealand 46-2 after the dismissals of Devon Conway (10) and Henry Nicholls (16) and took the game away from the home side.

Young was caught by Nitish Kumar Reddy off the bowling of Kuldeep Yadav, but Mitchell completed the chase alongside Glenn Phillips (32) with 15 balls to spare.

India reached 284-7 at the end of their 50 overs, thanks in large part to KL Rahul's 112 not out.

Shubman Gill struck 56 at the top of the order, but no other batter reached 30 as India set an underwhelming target.

The series concludes with the third ODI in Indore on Sunday, with a five-match T20 series to follow.

Siraj should stick to Test cricket, he is not cut out for limited-overs. A bowler like him who doesn't have alot of pace and relies heavily on line and length and discipline can be taken apart in white-ball cricket.

He has lost pace for sure. Was a time when he could clock upto 149 kph in Test cricket and even quicker in IPL.

He should preserve himself for Test cricket.

For some reason he is also less accurate in white ball cricket

Also can’t bat. If he can remain fit for a few more years, would love to have Shami in the team instead. Although he can’t bat too but he’s a far superior bowler.

Shami is finished. His body is broken down and his ankle and knee issues aren't going away at his advanced age. He has been a great servant for India but they should have moved on from him after the 2023 World Cup

BJP Quota Gambhir can't even win a JAMODI.

149 kph? Was that in India?

That may be true but a player like Reddy - seam-bowling all-rounder who has good upside with bat and ball needs to be backed in white-ball. More than anything he adds utility to the side with his all-round ability. Who else do India have right now who can step in as a credible replacement for Pandya? I can't think of anyone else. I also think that this is exactly the purpose of series like these, where you give these types of players more chances. He has only played 3 ODIs so far so I don't see an issue with giving him some more chances. Ofcourse if you are selecting him as an all-rounder then he probably should be bowling more than 2 overs too..
Having a weak no.6 and no.7 restrict top 5 from batting naturally. Today KL Rahul was playing slowly because his wicket means way below par total . This won't happen when you have batting depth. 322 average first inning score here. Jadeja's pathetic batting made sure we didn't get there. He is not a 7 or 8 over bowler either. Proper railu katta. He will be good only in the future not now.

Dodgy speed gun then. There is no way Siraj was ever a 149 kph bowler.
These are not PSL guns. For the record after playing 4day at oval he clocked 146k on the final day and the final ball that clean bowled Atkinson was 143 kph.

Lol. There is a huge difference between 143 kph and 149 kph

I said 146. lol why did you ignore that. That was on day 5 after bowling so many overs. How outlandish you think he can't bowl at 149k. He originally started as a fast bowler. Then in order to play tests he had to go up and down

Has he ever bowled at 149 kph outside of India?

@The Bald Eagle seem too much active yesterday but forget to reply on Sunday thread when India won and minnow Pakistan lost? :klopp :kp
There is an answer present here in your own post.

Pakistan is a minnow so we dont really care much about win or lose but according to you, india is a giant so they get attention...simple

Now cry for last night's defeat

Sunday connection thread is dedicated to India / Pakistan win or loose, doesn't matter Pakistan is minnow or not.

You guys first one to bumped that thread even when Pakistan won amature match on Sunday but hide when India win
.
Now cry as much you wants

:klopp :kp

Thread is not about Pakistan anyway... it is about INdia so we all can see who is crying for not getting bumped for Pakistan's win or defeat...

It's about India and Pakistan. When I tried to open separate thread for Pakistan it was merged with that thread. :kp

Solid win for NZ , imagine if Latham , Williamson , Henry , Santner & Duffy were available ...
ps : Jadeja , done & dusted completely .

Being one fifth of the world population, playing just one sport, having so much Money in this sport and Still losing to NZ C team.

So much talent 👏👏👏

So why does not the worlds 2nd most populated cricket team make the Finals of every ICC tournament in every age group and every gender?

Why does the second most populated country not win every silver medal on offer in the Commonwealth games in every sport across age groups, categories - genders?

Why does not the third most populated country win every bronze medal in the Asian games in each sport in each age group, category or gender?

....6th most populated country - sixth on the medals tally board in the olympics or world championships of each sport .... trust you get the drift..

But but but saar -janaab...hamare mein t'lunt bahoot hai.....its others saazish that prevent this talent from oozing out...
:salute:unsure::nonstop:

What is this Lennox guy supposed to be? Some kind of Mitch Santner rip-off?
For a debutant, he bowled pretty well....he kept changing his lengths, not a big turner. I'd say he was helped by Bracewell who kept it tight at the other end and wickets falling but overall has passed the immediate exam.

His big test will come when people work out his subtle changes of pace and also when he tries to fire it in and caliberate their footwork accordingly to give him the straight or sideways charge.

I still think he has an ICC ODI tournament in him..am sure he wants it, he is doing the hard yards in domestic cricket...i defo feel he will come back stronger b4 the ODI WC in some series and will just spread stumps...and his selection will be hotly debated...

Big hearted dude and for me his runup etc- one of my all time fav's - maybe my bias has translated to wishful thinking

Not much to be worried about, both the teams are playing B squads.

Gambhir has done well in Limited overs, he sucks in test cricket though.

Ct25 and Asia cup 25 were the two most important LO trophies last year and we won both of them.

They were all available in 2023 world cup. Didn't help. You just need one or two good players. Mitchell.has always been the best NZ player against India by a.mile. He was there. He did the job.

I have written it many times. India is all about quantity over quality. :inti

This is 2026 Naveen ... these players being available might have resulted in they being 2-0 !

Haha my comment was more in response to his action, which seems like an exact copy of Santner's action. Looks like an okay bowler. Want to see more of him before I judge

I just feel that his body can’t handle it anymore. That’s just how it goes for fast bowlers - years of wear and tear eventually catch up. The human body isn’t meant to be put through the ringer the way fast bowlers put themselves through.

The best of the lot find ways to prioritise their physical fitness and get the reps in by playing long-form cricket, but age catches up with everyone eventually. There’s nothing to be ashamed of in that. He’s had a long and fruitful career and has accomplished a lot. It would be more deflating for him if he keeps working hard to make comebacks and then gets injured again.

IMO he should be smart and preserve his body for IPL so he can maximize his earnings... while he still can.
