The little assistance would have been useful for our bowlers. I am surprised New Zealand bowlers have failed to take the advantage. Either it's fast bowlers or the pitch hasn't been live for a while? Nevertheless, finest fifty by Dhoni

Gratz to Saint Harby for cowlashing his way to 53!

India have scored quickly and put nearly 400 on board despite no batsmen really scoring a hundred or a big score. I think they will fancy their chances of forcing a postive result here!

pretty comfortable now after a mid inning collapse....375/9 sound decent than 280 all out.

Time to test rohit sharma or badrinath instead of yuvraj.....

Thoroughly enjoyed the tail wagging .The last 75 runs were real bonus.
Absolutely :))

Good position to be in. New Zealand will be batting last on this pitch and it already seems to have a bit of uneven bounce in it. They better score about 450 in their first innings or I see India having a bit of an advantage. I reckon Ishanth will have a good day tomorrow and the team will hopefully restrict NZ to less than 350.

Yuvraj singh with the catch, bounced a little more than expected, Macintosh made 32.

80-3, India chipping away at the wkts

Z Khan 12.1-2-37-4

It was a shockingly bad shot, high and wide ball, and he chased it, did well to nick it to be honest

Franklin only averages 20 in his 26 tests, he's a no7 at best, more like no 8, but apparently has been in good form in the domestic matches this season.

125-6, 2 quick wkts for harbhajan, taylor and franklin. india right on top, Dhoni effect?

How that was not out I will never know.o,brian playing no shot it picthed middle was hitting middle and off.

:)) Have a look at this piece from a poster of Rediff -

Seeing Rahul Dravid's laziness, lack of dexterity and skill to change sides--leave alone scoring runs with good shots--his batting place needs to be changed. He should come to bat after Harbajan Singh, so that he can help frustrate the bowlers and prolong the Indian Innings at a gravely limping pace.

Now it will be a flat track for them :)))

Go green

To be fair to them, they never made any claims of being Green Track Bullies.... I guess the nature of pitches so far in the series can be connected to their defensive mindset than anything else.

Tell me you are not serious with your post. Thought you were a sensible poster mate, didn't expect such a post which shows complete lack of respect for the game of Test Cricket really.

The final session had nothing to be gained by the Indians. A difference of 20-30 runs would hardly have made a difference but a wicket would definitely have. Dravid's been amazing this series and it's sad that NZ commentators appreciate this genius so much but our very own Indians don't.

Please go back to watching your T20 cricket if Dravid bores you.

That was a post made by someone over Rediff. I thought it was hilarious, hence posted it over here. Anyway, please don't tell me Dravid is a genius, he is good, but million light years away from being a genius.

If you are looking for pure garbage and 'cricket illiterate' comments then look no further than the discussion boards over Rediff.

I agree with you that we still haven't got a replacement for Dravid (not talking about the Dravid of last 1-2 years). Dravid of before 2007 was what we need as our no 3.

But sometimes I feel current Dravid will always help us saving a match than winning a match. I will keep some match scenarios

First Innigs this test: He played almost 200 balls to score 30 odd runs and get out. If tail hadn't scored then there was no value of that long innings as it was not long enough to handle the innings at one end.

Chennai test against SA where Veeru scored 300 : If dravid hadn't taken ages to complete his 100 we could have had a chance to fancy a win. The declaration was too late to even think of getting SA all out. It was a flat pitch but again thats where you take chances if you give yourself more time.

Against England when India chased 387 in last innings within little over 3 sessions. Can we imagine Dravid playing his innings and we getting to the target. Yes he definitely can save matches for us any day.

Again, I am a good supporter of Dravid but I also feel test cricket is also about runs and not just time. If you play for time then you are making sure you are not loosing but if you play for run then you are playing for winning.

So depending on match situation you need to keep the scoring rate. Dravid was perfect in last test when he played for time and so did Gambhir. We shouldn't be playing that in this match. Its bad if we score 150 runs in more than two sessions tomorrow and don't loose wickets.

I agree.

Very convincing days cricket from india who should win this series 2-0. Zaheer khan has shown why hes indias may spearhead at the moment. India should be looking at a 350-400 lead atleast and then should wrap the game and series up.

Dravids a class act and should be appreciated for what hes done for india down the years, when he retires vijay murali should be given a run in the side at number 3.

He really impressed on his debut. didn't he? :)

Couple of others who should be in the run as well are Badrinath and Rohit Sharma.
