What's new

New Zealand v Pakistan | 1st Test | Christchurch | Nov 17-21, 2016 | Day 3

This footage should be recorded and saved for Babar...They basically bullied him into getting dismissed to some short stuff....

A technical deficiency in his game apparently.

Wagner is our only genuine wicket taking option on flat wickets.

Babar throws it away again

No, it'll look self boasting, if I say that I could see this. With a 67 deficit, you can't bat for 75 minutes on one score. New ball I understand, but 40 overs old ball, tiered attack & sun shining in 3rd session of a tight Test - you can't bat like that.

Got out fishing outside the leg stump although 'the ATG' has been also getting out in the similar fashion lately.

They should have really started upping the tempo a while back... the wicket is great to bat on.. only making things much easier for us batting this way..

I have seen such a slow approach by any test team. RR 1.47
It made sense for the first 20 or so overs, but this is getting ridiculous. The sun is out and the front line bowlers are tired... our only wicket taking option now is Wagner.

Sami Aslam disappointed me most. He was fluent batsman now batting worse than Shan Masood. Need to play positively rather than unnecessary tuktuk

Azhar lost a Test in SRL with a score of 137 - stats won't tell that.

Exactly by doing so we will loose early wickets tomorrow and lead will not be enough

It'll be really tough for PAK now - not many winning record with 3 down before deficit erased.

Another failure from Younis. Looked clueless for every single ball out there.

Shabash boys!

YK gets an absolute peach of a delivery ... 3 down and still trailing ... what did I say? This is what happens when you play with a negative mindset. :)))

Younis is going to have a tough few series here. He has proven me wrong before and I'm happy to be proven wrong again. I just hope his career ends in a respectable manner.

Saw it coming. "The ATG" being exposed as we are not playing in the UAE.

What's the freakin plan here?

It's almost 50 overs here and the ball is very old and lost its shine

But they are still playing as if they are seeing out the new ball or sth

In 30 overs the second new ball will due

Well he is and he's on the crease while Babar isn't.. I would say Azhar has shown why he has been so successful in Test matches, Babar doesn't look like a number 3 if he can't duck on bouncers..

PCB should settle with YK - he won't make any trouble if Arthur drops him for the next 8 Tests - in return, PCB will allow him to reach 10K against us & next winter in UAE. From now on, he is not going to get a single ball on front foot in his first hour.

Pathetic cricket from Pakistan one of the worst batting displays in recent times, what is so baffling to see is no one is looking to score runs in this flat and sunny conditions, there can't be a better batting condition than this, Bangladesh are due to tour next and I can guarantee they will bat far more assuredly and show how easy it can be to score runs when the sun is out and the surface has dried off.

All the players in the Pakistan team are defensive by nature and lack the talent to score runs its as simple as that. They are lucky not to have innings defeat in this test but the way they are batting i don't think they can get a lead of more than 60 on flattest of batting conditions.:facepalm:

As predicted, batting throroughtly exposed. Who knows what would've happened if England made tracks like this for us.

Some players are destined to play on dead, low bounce tracks of UAE. Cowardly batting.

What can you say for Azhar tbh? Wickets falling around him, and given his limitations he has no choice but to defend.

Game is not won for staying on the wicket - in that case Boycott would have been Bradman & Akash Chopra would have played 100 Tests & Viv Richards would have been a slogger. Babar has technical issues, which he has to work on, but that has nothing to do on what we are discussing here. I give you a proposition - PAK might make a match of 200 - now which is easier here - batting 150 overs at 1.7 rate or somehow scoring 267? Last time Azhar scored 91 in similar situation till 8th man out - that didn't work.

I appreciate his opening effort, but batting with ZERO intention never helps, particularly from deficit. Azhar is extremely successful Test player, Fawad would have been one as well in ODI - still averages 45+ @ close to 80 SR.

So basically Pak are now 3/3. They need to score 150runs from here to have a chance

Saw this struggle against a bouncer barrage coming tbh. We need someone like Kohli who can take these short deliveries on. Unfortunately, other than Shafiq, I've never seen any of our bats play a pull shot.

Kiwi bowlers are tired,I for one don't mind the Pakistani approach here considering their first inning disaster.

right because not like he scored a double ton in England or anything

I love it how conveniently you ignored the fact that he failed in six innings before that double hundred.

Just to add to that, he has failed in last 14 out of 16 innings outside Asia.

And anchored the six highest chase in TEST HISTORY in SL....Where apparently the Aussies were just recently butchered 3-0 !! Yup Younis is definitely overrated !! just has 33 hundreds and 53.xx average

Tomorrow morning batting will not be easy, Pakistan cannot afford to bat so slow. Runs will matter in the end.

Its just that anyone with a MIsbah school of thought of batting is frowned upon.. it has worked for him why does he need to change? He doesn't.. neither does Misbah, it has brought them success and as long as Pakistan plays well I don't think it should bother anyone

After failing in 6 innings.

Yes and Kohli, who is practically the Golden eye boy on PP, failed for a straight 8-10 innings, Heck Mohammad Amir and Hafeez had more combined score than that overrated HTB :)) shaz619...So the point is ????

Lets just look at it one session at a time.. we won't be batting tomorrow if we get all out today

:yk is failing more often these days. I think he should retire gracefully and not tarnish his legacy

YK still remains an ATG. Numbers don't lie. Go whine elsewhere. Got an absolute peach of a delivery today.

Boycott was dropped after scoring 246*, that too in 60s - getting result is one thing because we never know or can measure what could have been other way. I can't prove, so it's up to you to accept or not - but, without that 90% toss win record, this approach won't have earned much in UAE either.

I started posting today with a little dig at Warner, never thought that it'll bite back such ...
