Lol we got Wagner. We get the rejects anyway. van Wyk

BTW, you guys are assured a free wicket with 2 meter Peter :hafeez

Yes, and I am always rooting for us to bowl first. I enjoy bowling more than I do batting. And if you want a masterclass, it'll be Finn and Jimmy delivering it.
I hope that Finn does deliver in these tests. Admist all the clamour for him to replace Broad in tests, he is yet to prove himself in this format.

lol yeah! I see you guys have replaced the Kruger. Does Watling also keep in FC or is he a temp ?

Bob willis commentating will never forget his "shades of Viv richards" comment :)))

!
Finn's average has always been under 30, Broad's has always been over 30, was 40 for a while in fact.

Cook dropped. lol

Gah we can't afford to start dropping everybody like in the OD series.

He is no :umarakmal-esque temp but he is not as regular as say Hopkins or Kruger. But Macca is a better keeper so Watling was never used. However, under captaincy pressure, wisely he has delegated keeping duties to Watling who is a decent keeper and no :kami

This game is like a tri-series between England NZ and South Africa B.

Poor shot by Cook there. Don't want to give a guy like Wagner confidence.

What the hell was that? Dismal cricket.

Oh Cook. Given it away. And KP too!

Awful stuff by our batsmen. Knew this could happen.

He has good numbers James. But there have been times like that 6 for at Brisbane, another 5 for against Pak in 2010 when he has sneakily stacked up his wickets tally without much affecting the game. Erm, a bit like a batsmen getting runs off declaration bowling. I like him but would like to see a really game changing spell from him in tests.

Oh no KP. :(

LOL Wagner, born in Safferland... :rondu

We were something like 30/4 in Napier on the last tour and came back to win...

Was a great ball to dismiss KP by the way. Compton and Cook get rollockings but not a lot Kevin could do.

Bell and Trott, the centurions from the last test at the crease. Come on Bears

Needs a century from one of these two to lift us to a semi-competitive total.

Neil Wagner has almost 300 FC wickets at an average of 24. What took the selectors so long to pick him ?

Hopefully the Duke of Bellington with his Prior knowledge can Root out the problem and lead England to a solid score...

Is it just me, or is the pitching looking quite brown?

Anyway good to see the Saffers doing well :D

Though two Saffas have fallen, while two wickets were taken by a Saffa. It's even on the Saffer happiness!

Let's see if Dingdong can make runs under pressure today.

Why do we forget that we are very weak against swing sometimes?

After 25 odd overs, should become a good batting surface with some help for bowlers. Not much grass there. Teams should target 350. Ideally we would love to get England for under 250.

Well we had to wait 4 years to pick him because hes a saffer.
Blimey! Pete Fulton is playing. Last I saw of him was when Craig Mcmillan and Baz were regularly pulling off those 340 odd run chases against the Aussies few years back.

Can you please show me a team that is very good at batting against swing?

In overcast conditions with a new ball it is always going to be difficult to score runs and keep wickets, you seem to be stuck in an IPL mentality where batting is easy and teams pile on the runs with ease.

Yea im not sure why we went back to Fulton. Hes not completely terrible but he has to many technical deficiency's for test opening.

I would of like to see young Jeet Raval get a start but i guess the selectors didnt want two debutant openers at the same time with Rutherford in there atm.

Big year and big innings this for Bell. He frittered away his tremendous form of 2010 and 2011 last year.

You remember Matthew Bell. He used to open for you guys the last time Eng toured NZ. He was a bigtime Sidebottm's bunny. I guess you would have to go back to Richardson and Vincent , for the last time when NZ had a settled opening partnership.

Good disciplined bowling, don't give away anything, keep it up. :hadlee

really enjoy watching test cricket from new zealand. pitch looks very brown, is this fairly typical of wickets there? feel like it might be.

We're woeful against it, and somehow every pundit was calling this series a complete slaughter. Of course I'll be upset, why don't they remember that NZ can cause a few problems along the way, or more specifically that we are pretty poor against the moving ball? I couldn't care less about the lack of piles of runs. It's our tendency to lose wickets in clumps after turtling that annoys me. England does tend to go into a shell unless Prior/KP/our lower order hits out. We even looked awful against India of all countries at Trent Bridge until our lower order got us back in the game. Australia and the Saffers were better than us at playing it, Saffers still are, and Australia at times can.

Yea Mathew Bell was most bowlers bunny lol.

Would love to have an opener like Richardson back in the side. We regularly put up big scores with his platforms.

Wish Vettori was fit for this series. Has such a great record vs England with the ball and valuable runs down the order.

I would not be surprised if we go on to post a 300+ score. But main worry is that the conditions look a bit Headlingleysque. If, by the time, the Kiwis begin their batting andthe sun shines, then the pitch might turn into a road.

This is going to need one of Broad's better Tests and not one of his numerous epic fail Tests.

Swann is injured and Anderson can't terrorise the top order every time. Time for Broad to return.

How about Finn? If he's getting pace with* the wind, maybe.

Going to be easier to bat now. New ball is the only real danger on this pitch.

Great to see a full crowd at a test match in NZ.

Need to get through safely to lunch. Conditions will become lot easier later in the day

Good comeback spoiled...game is moving on...we may yet get a close match and a result

64/4. Root, come on and prove that you're the second coming of Christ (for English fans at least)

England are quite a few levels below South Africa. We can compete here. With the ball anyway.

Great to be going to sleep while the English are geting a hiding.

Wow. Genuinely can't think of the last time England collapsed purely to pace bowling.

Christ this is incredible by NZ. Can't remember they'd done this to a top side. And I was thinking NZ were lucky to have a day washed out for a draw :)).

Win's definitely on now and these are home conditions for the Kiwis they could put on a good score especially with Swann out.

The two best pressure players are in with Prior and Trott, but that's all that's left out of the specialist batsmen.

Bell again was an idiot playing himself in looking good, then throwing it away. Sad how I've pretty much given up hope on him.
