Imagine if Nz would hv bowled yesterday in overcast condition!

Lol at the NZ fan that has had a sign reading 'Eng 80 for 5 at lunch' since the morning. Frighteningly accurate prediction.

81/5 at lunch. Very poor batting so far, good bowling by the Kiwis.

Obvious match fixing.

Michael Vaughan seems to have gone quiet...

Lol I think I should take a nap again. Utter havoc. Need to keep the pressure after lunch. Could Bruce Martin have the easiest debut as a bowler?

Yea im not sure why we went back to Fulton. Hes not completely terrible but he has to many technical deficiency's for test opening.

I would of like to see young Jeet Raval get a start but i guess the selectors didnt want two debutant openers at the same time with Rutherford in there atm.

Jeet Raval a Gujarati? :amla

I expect we'll be bowling before the drink break.

Our last three can't bat.

you do know your team is ranked number 2 and the other team is ranked number 9 not the other way around. lol

95/5.

NZ is notoriously good for one or two sessions every match, and sometimes more.

Loving Prior taking these shots though. Such a good counterattacking batsman. Would say best wicketkeeping bat, if it wasn't for de Villiers keeping wicket for the past year.

107/5 now.

Aaaand I've put the mockers on him. He's out.

I was right, last person who can hold a bat out on the ground. England to bowl before drinks.

Vaughan on twitter.

"England are batting like Australia.... It's a real concern......"

I bet the media won't give NZ bowlers any credit, they will just go on and on about how England batters played bad rather than NZ applied pressure and produced opp. with good field placements.

No, they've given the NZ bowlers and Baz some credit.

You guys still have to bat, I'll be surprised if you pass 200 :))

Pitch is not a green top. It's not a road and you have to be careful with the new ball. But 119/8 is a gift. I swear if we screw this up, I will be :pissed:.

What on earth is going on here?!

English batsmen throwing wickets away!

The NZ bowlers have done well but Cook, Broad, Trott and Prior will be kicking themselves for their poor shots!

You can never rely on NZ batsmen just like Pak batsmen :p

Good to see Bruce Martin do well here. Nice little story behind him. Got picked in NZ squad 14 years ago but took till today to finally get a test cap.

Printing/Internet media. Not Commentators. Athers will usually give credit where it's due.

To be fair though - yes NZ have by no means done a bad job - but England really have thrown away a number of wickets here.

Cook and Prior slashing a short and wide ball to point

Trott simply playing a false sweep and top edging the ball

Broad pulling a half tracker to the fielder in the deep.

Compton just hang is bat out without any real intention

Only wicket I can think of that came from a particularly good ball was KP

As I said - NZ haven't done a bad job - but they cant claim that they bowled well enough to have Eng 121/8. Eng batsmen have helped as well.

True. But Rutherford has been a solid performer in FC. Plus, Rosco is a notoriously good batsman in trying conditions. So is Brownlie. Still, there is a lot of game left and it could all go south real fast.

Root was a poor shot too.

The best way to describe this is that NZ have bowled well to a bunch of idiots.

Was it? I missed Roots and Bells wicket :)

I really am surprised by how poorly England have done here.

England really dependant on a cook start i feel, the times when he stays there for a bit, england do alright.

But good work from NZ, keep the pressure on. I had my bet on England, o well dont mind loosing the bet if the match turns out well!

This is humiliating. Hope our top 6 are getting a proper paddling from Andy.

This is rubbish by the Kiwis. This is Anderson and Finn for goodness sake!

They've had numerous chances to get them out too. Fun seeing Anderson trying to play his shots, usually his role has been block, block don't get out, hence he's the night watchman.

He got his then personal best in a match at Trent Bridge against the Kiwis too. Some lovely shots then as well. Then followed it up with 6 wickets to the order in a session. And then another before the end of the innings.

Finn out, nice little cameo. Monty is going to be hilarious for the two bats to watch.

That partnership was the highest of the innings. Just tells you how woeful our batsmen were.

167 all out. Poor showing by England's batsmen. Time for the bowlers to toil for some wickets.

Anyway just half job done for NZ, if they dont get a big lead. Expect England to surely bat much better in 2nd innings and set up a decent target.

Awww Anderson got out, wanted to see Panesar bat a bit. Panesar ain't that good (Anderson's a lot better), but he tends to play the odd quality shot in between the rest :))

Come on NZ, score big and win this. I'll support you this time against England, want to see an upset.

Embarrassing batting - the "olde English procession" - but it could've been even worse. I never thought I'd say this, but England's top order could learn a thing or two from Anderson and Finn on getting stuck in with the bat! :O :ik

Just caught the last wicket, its the pitch doing things or good bowling from NZ?
Looks a pretty good wicket to bat on. Not an absolute road, but decent.

Really on this sort of pitch I'd have expected 300 minimum. Little surprised by this.

Fair enough, I will give credits NZ fielders holding on to catches and McC did have proper fielding plan for certain batsmen, ie. Bell's wicket and Trott's wicket.

I still think it can very well be draw test match, but England's collapse have move forward this test match and put it timing on par, just. Also, certain NZ batters don't bat slow, so NZ clearly have chance to create decent lead. If NZ collapse as well, then England will bat for 2 days this test will be draw.

Well in the test vs South Africa here last year it was still very good for batting later in the test. I believe South Africa conceded a first innings lead but scored big in the 2nd innings.

Pitch won't break up ether. Shouldnt be much turn even on day 5.

yeh, looks very flat. Looks like Groundsmen want 5 days test. Will be sad to see this test gets no result (despite first day being washed out), seeing clear chance for NZ.

Nothing much from the wicket, nor really much swing. Fairly flat by NZ standards.

Just tight bowling by a decent attack and some poor batting.

Looked a 280-300 pitch at least.
