The Dashing and Aggressive Pakistan team, finally prayers of many fans answered.

No cricket till 21 march so waiting for This series .

Usman khan era is going to start with This series. He has no excuse to not perform as NZ top players are missing due to IPL .

:kp

Test 1 for Pak T20 team without the most successful opening duo in T20 history of Rizwan and Babar. I will be closely watching to see Agha motivate the team with his 70 SR.

I know u r being sarcastic.. he is a certified gully mohala player to get a chance at int'l level.... the person whoever selected him well cant describe their knowledge of batting... utter madness to select this guy that too in ODIs..... The shots that he plays , i can imagine the shots of those players from gully mohalla , road-side cricketers playing with bricks , coke boxes , dustbin boxes as stumps.. Showing all thress stumps and try to muscle the ball...

Only in Pak players like him, Asif Ali, Iftikar Ahmed , Khusdhil shah get a chance and are celebrated as next big thing to happen after Afridi , Imran Nazir, Razzaq etc ..

NZ probably find a new Rachin Ravindra type of talent in this series.
Devon Conway, Lockie Ferguson, Glenn Phillips, Bevon Jacobs and Rachin Ravindra are also unavailable due to their T20 playing commitments, with Kane Williamson also declaring himself unavailable.

I would really like Brett Randell, Ray Toole, Kristian Clarke ,Matt Fisher, Aditya Ashok, Ben Sears, Zak Foulkes, Dean Foxcroft.....all of them to get an opportunity to play this Pakistan side.

I’ve done it upside down to make sure bowling options are in abundance. 1 full seamer, 2 fast bowling all rounders , 2 proper spinners and 3 spin bowling alrounders, a 4th spin bowling option in Hassan Nawaz as well.

I just hope it makes sense.

Kiwis batters love pace. This was the issue last time. One dimensional pace bowling on those decks too easy for someone like Finn Allen. Guys like Chapman, Seifer and Tim Robinson too will find it too easy to play pace.

At least with 2 proper spinners you are already into their head, you can get through overs with Agha, Shaddy and Khushi…but 8 overs of Abrar and Sufyan will be the difference between chasing 170 or 220

So this would be the first game ever played by Shadab ever since he returned to First Class cricket. His return it too early. Should had done minimum two seasons, but lets see how he does.

If his line and length problem still exists, irrespect of how many wickets he takes, than his career is done. So i really hope his line and length issue is sorted and would looking forward to his overs during this series

too many all rounders tbh

I think we can replce Jahandad with Abdul Samad

Then you are going with 2 seamers? Tbh I think only one of Niazi or Abdul Samad plays.

Abdul Samad should open and given a free licence, I’m not too sure about him at the back end.

Looking at the NZ squad: Michael Bracewell (c), Finn Allen, Mark Chapman, Jacob Duffy, Zak Foulkes (games 4 and 5 only), Mitch Hay, Matt Henry (games 4 and 5 only), Kyle Jamieson (games 1, 2 and 3 only), Daryl Mitchell, Jimmy Neesham, Will O’Rourke (games 1, 2 and 3 only), Tim Robinson, Ben Sears, Tim Seifert, Ish Sodhi

There is still some good played in that squad, this will not be an easy series for Pak, but results are not too much the concern its about the process and approach Pak, take each match.

Since match is in Christchurch, I believe Pak can try 2 spinners

This would be my squad for the 1st match

1) Hassan Nawaz
2) Mohammad Haris (W.K)
3) Omair Bin Yousuf
4) Salman Agha
5) Shadab Khan
6) Irfan Khan Niazi
7) Abdul Sammad
8) Abbas Afridi
9) Shaheen Afridi
10) Mohammad Ali
11) Sufiyan Muqeem

The way Pak should approach this, is every game new played should be inducted and there should be a rotation, to test the bench strenght and see what each player can or cannot do.

Will Rizwan & Babar be returning to FC cricket / look to play a full season of domestic cricket at all now 🤔

Every player of Pakistan should play FC cricket when they are not playing international cricket.

However for spinners playing first class season over t20 league is very important because spinners only develop through first class season, especially leg spinners.

My XI is also the same except that I have Khushdil for Usman and will bat in middle order.

It will be tough start to series for Pakistan. Kiwis even with this weakened squad will be handful for Pakistan.

Last time Pakistan played a T20I series the Kiwis hammered them 4-1. Pakistan had a relatively newer squad. Regardless under any circumstances it's very difficult to beat New Zealand at home.

I think Abrar should play ahead of sufiyan and also Shaheen should be rested for Haris... Rest is the best possible players we can select

Dunedin T20I double-header SOLD-OUT

The BLACKCAPS and WHITE FERNS are preparing to play in front of sold-out crowds during the upcoming T20I double-headers against Pakistan and Sri Lanka, with the University of Otago Oval the first venue to put the full-house sign up.

Pakistan-New Zealand T20 Series

The Pakistan team held their first training session in Christchurch.

The national T20 squad practiced at Hagley Oval, with batters and bowlers working in the nets.

Players also participated in exercise drills before the practice session.

The team will resume practice tomorrow at 1 PM local time.

I asked AI for the playing 11 and this is what we got:
  • Salman Ali Agha (Captain)
  • Mohammad Haris (Wicketkeeper)
  • Shaheen Shah Afridi
  • Shadab Khan
  • Haris Rauf
  • Abrar Ahmed
  • Khushdil Shah
  • Abbas Afridi
  • Omair Bin Yousaf
  • Hasan Nawaz
  • Sufiyan Muqeem

This playing 11 is similar to what our selectors have been selecting and taking inspiration from.... Pathetic

Why would NZ schedule a series knowing fully well that all their top players will be playing IPL?

Essentially will be a 2nd string playing eleven. Given that, will it make for good cricket?

It doesnt matter i have seen the kiwi squad they will be too strong for Pak i am afraid..all the batters are hack pak have

This Pakistan team is much better placed to compete with them.

do not feed the same crap bowlers to Allen and Chapman like you recently have. Learn from your mistakes.

In that case, there might be a wide spread clerical error with Yasir Shah’s T20I wickets column 🤡

Omair
M Haris
Usman
Shadab
Salman
Irfan Niazi
Kushdil
Abbas
Shaheen
Haris
Abrar

I think this is a good move forward. Shadab can bat at 4. And plenty of options for bowling. 7 bowling options and hard hitters till number 7. If you look at the line up, its only salman who can play the anchor role in case. Major update from the previous middle orders which has 3 to 4 anchors

Probably last bit of international cricket before IPL starts - will be a good series...
ipl is my cricket detox time - till june arrives with the WTC and my team india plays eng...
Good luck to Pak team!

Yasir and shadab are both different.

Yasir is a pure legspinner. These type can only play test, as they dont offer much variety and have to bowl long consisstent spells to make traps.

Shadab bowls varieties, which makes him effective in t20. But shadab has major line and length issues which can only be set through first class cricket.

By now i know it all went over your head

Warne was a legspinner and was effective in odi, zampa is also a pure whiteball leggie.

legspinners aren't ineffective in other formats lol and they literally offer more variety then any other form of spin.

Theirs like 7 variations of legspin.

Salman Ali Agha-led Pakistan are all set to take on New Zealand in the five-match T20I series starting on Sunday, 16 March. The first game will be played at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch, with the first ball to be bowled at 2.15pm local time.

The second match will be played at University Oval in Dunedin on 18 March, while the third match of the series will be played at Eden Park in Auckland on 21 March. The fourth and fifth T20Is will be played at Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui and Sky Stadium in Wellington on 23 and 26 March, respectively.

A three-match ODI series will follow the T20I action and will be played from 29 March to 5 April.

The Pakistan squad arrived in Christchurch on Thursday and held their first training session on Friday afternoon. Before their arrival, the T20I squad underwent a pre-series camp from 7 to 10 March at the LCCA Ground in Lahore.

Pakistan’s squad includes three uncapped players – Abdul Samad, Hasan Nawaz and Mohammad Ali – who earned call-ups to the national side following their impressive performances in recent domestic events.

Pakistan have an upper hand over New Zealand in the 44 T20I contests between the two sides with 23 wins while the Black Caps have secured victory in 19 fixtures.

The last T20I series featuring the two sides, which was played in Pakistan in 2024, finished with a 2-2 scoreline with one match abandoned due to rain.

Salman Ali Agha, who led the team to a 2-1 T20I series win in Zimbabwe in his first series as captain, said:

“The team's preparations are going well, and we will try to produce better results in New Zealand. We have some young players in the side, and it is an opportunity for them to showcase their talent at the international level after performing well in domestic cricket.”

T20I squad - Salman Ali Agha (captain), Shadab Khan (vice-captain), Abdul Samad, Abrar Ahmed, Haris Rauf, Hasan Nawaz, Jahandad Khan, Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Abbas Afridi, Mohammad Ali, Mohammad Haris, Muhammad Irfan Khan, Omair Bin Yousaf, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Sufyan Moqim and Usman Khan

Player Support Personnel - Naveed Akram Cheema (team manager), Aqib Javed (interim head coach), Azhar Mahmood (assistant coach), Mohammad Yousuf (batting coach), Mohammad Masroor (fielding coach), Cliffe Deacon (physiotherapist), Drikus Saiman (strength and conditioning coach), Talha Butt (analyst), Irtiza Komail (security manager), Dr Wajid Ali Rafai (team doctor), Syed Naeem Ahmad (media and digital manager) and Sergio Basil Mullins (masseur).

New Zealand tour schedule:

16 Mar – first T20I, Hagley Oval, Christchurch
18 Mar – second T20I, University Oval, Dunedin
21 Mar – third T20I, Eden Park, Auckland
23 Mar – fourth T20I, Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui
26 Mar – fifth T20I, Sky Stadium, Wellington
29 Mar – first ODI, McLean Park, Napier
2 Apr – second ODI, Seddon Park, Hamilton
5 Apr – third ODI, Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui

Leg break

Flipper

Bouncer

Googly

Top Spinner

Slider

I can bowl all the ones from the back off the hand :afridi but not a leg break :mush

The 7th variation am not sure if it even was a delivery, I need to look into it, I thought it was more specific to something he saw in the Batter and then he’d set them up.

It’s just a cop-out for Misbah’s failure to get anything out of Yasir in the limited forms, and this guy doesn’t really know much about spin bowling

Just because his stock ball was a leg break, doesn’t mean he offered little variation in ODI’s or T20’s, Misbah was too defensive and failed to squeeze the most out of him in other formats.

Adil Rashid is one of the best leg spinners in the world and he stopped playing red ball cricket along time ago, even when he got picked for Tests he hadn’t played an FC game in many years for Yorkshire. If Shadab was going to be playing Tests tomorrow I get what you’re saying, but you don’t need to bowl extensive red ball spells to improve your skills as a spinner in limited formats in the modern era, you can achieve that through List A & T20’s in domestic cricket when Batsman are a lot more on their toes and you need to think outside the box.

Having said that red ball cricket can help with his conditioning, fitness and mental strength; he has already played 12 months and am not sure what another 12 months will do for him, you should be putting more pressure on other players to play domestic cricket as per their contractual obligations @Rana

They need to compete , that is why they are paid for. This is there job , not doing anyone favors.

What varieties did Shadab have ? He never had a flipper or a slider or a pure topsinner.

His strength was always the ability to spin the ball at pace and not give up the stumps, the occasional googly notwithstanding.

A typical T20 spinner

Yasir couldnt even bowl a Googly. He was going no where in limited overs.

Look spinners develop from redball cricket. No matter what format you play, in red ball cricket you are required to bowl long spells. You figure out your own bowling more. One of the reasons why guys like Abdur Rehman, Zulfiqar Babar had an impact in limited overs during their early days was because of their control on their spin bowling.

Your accruacy improves by a mile.

The issue with Shadab is his accuracy and sometimes he losses control. A biggest hint when Shadab is not getting it right is when you see him rubbing his hand against the grass or washiing it with sawdust thats when you know Shadab is losing it and has to focus on too much on the grip.

Playing a spinner very early in his career without any practice is one of the worst things you can do.

Shadab has not played 12 months, he barely played few games, Shadab needs alot of first class games before he makes a return.

Trust me, you bring in Shadab right now, if not this series, sooner or later his line and length issues will come up. Only way will his issue get fixed is if he goes back to first class and plays it for 2-3 years.

@Bewal Express also knows about spin bowling and he add more to this discussion

Shadab controls his speed. He doesnt turn the ball but he does varies it and had a few varities.

Shadabs issue is his line and length.

In Pakistan, no captain knew how to use spinners better than Misbah. Now based on the discussion i am having with you on spinners its evident you dont understand spin bowling.

Danish Kaneria had a terrible record in limited overs, will you put that all on Inzi? Even though Kaneria was a very good bowler.

Limited overs and Test cricket have different requirements especially from leggies. But limited over spinners improve by first class crickets long spells.

NZ grounds are majority micky mouse style, Pakistan are loaded with spinner it may end up real phainta :133:

Yeah I mean Rauf, Shaheen, Naseem, Zaman Khan and Wasim JR really contained them last time…

Thank God for once you didn't mentioned Babar and Rizwan :nehra
Are you slow? You mentioned our spinners will get smashed when it was the pacers who caused 10 minute delays for the ball to be retrieved from the next postcode

Only A couple or days left , everything will be crystal clear

Why be dishonest? You are desperate for them to fail are you not?

I'm very much looking forward to this series , will follow it from 1st to last ball, new talent about the shake the world

Great post. I would also add that Shadab has a very poor release. I showed with Photos( which btw I also sent to him through a mutual acquaintance) that he releases the ball from underneath his hand. His release should be from the side of the hand and late. The late release maximises the side spin as the back of the hand will be facing the bowler.
As you said Shadab needs lots of overs and although he got a few more this year, he needs many more. If Shadab could improve as bowler, he has a lot to offer the team as a batter at 7/8 and a good fielder.

This is a seriously clueless post, you know nothing about spin bowling and Misbah was so good at handling spinners that he ended their careers by running them into the ground and we saw his famous leg-side fields with Yasir Shah in Australia, that’s how chalak that numpty was, trying to use leg spinners like off spinners 🤡🤡

Abdur Rehman & Zulfi Cobra 🤣 What did all that red ball experience do for them in limited overs? carrying the drinks for Misbah?

12 more months is not going to do anything for Shadab, leg-spin bowling is an art in itself and unlike any other spin discipline, like Misbah you are confusing it with off-spin, it is far more scientific and psychological.

Instead of being another booger kid and lifting a kebab, why don’t you learn how to bowl some leg-spin first and play semi-pro cricket, then you can @ me.

Silly Major.

Now keep this energy with Babar and Rizwan’s need to play domestic cricket 🤡🤡

You are treating Shadab like an off spinner, shows how much you know, biggest load of bollocks, he needs to play 24 months of FC as a leggie to be competent in LOI’s.

You agree to disagree, dont get whats with the childish behavior of just throwing remarks.

When Saim and Fakhar get in . It’s gonna look solid team
they will take Saim and tell some other ridiculous reason for Fakhar.. I hope Salman bags wins and performance under his belt and boot out the nonsense / friendship surrounds the team and backs merit.

Hope he takes the merit route and ditches the friendship route...
