What's new

New Zealand vs Pakistan | 2nd ODI | Saxton Oval | Jan 9, 2018 | Pakistan Innings

Well that's not generally considered very impressive by modern standards, though it might be compared to Malik's average of 9.xx.

Yes Malik comparitively hasn't done that well, maybe today is his chance

Waqar on commentary "Locke is someone who is a banger, someone who bangs the balls at hard lengths"

Neither should be in the side

It was from a different post - what should be the XI for 2nd ODI. I was only to open with MoHa, play Hari & Yamin at 4, 7, Sarfraz at 5 and Raees/Azhar dropped.

Azhar Ali shouldn't be considered even for PAK Cup, though his meaningless numbers are very good there. Any given day, MoHa is twice the ODI player than AA - you can sum up from there after.

It's a little "sluggish" wicket than usual Nelson track - if PAK can bat through 50 overs, you'll see Shadab troubling Kiwis, Hasan as well with old ball. MoHa or Imad was never handy to defend low totals on good wickets - no darter actually is. What they did was choke scoring - that works bowling first, otherwise PAK would have won that WACA ODI.

I know Imad is a pure darter but even his harshest of critics have to see how effective he was at the job he did. I'm not his biggest fan but he usually picked up a wicket or two with his darts while drying up the runs. Same with Hafeez. Hence they were vital cogs in our bowling machine.

Only in UAE, where you shouldn't watch cricket.

Can we all have a standing ovation for Inzi for selecting Azhar, Malik, Hafeez and to top it off he selected his garbage bhanja...

Thank you Inzi... best chief selector in history

:salute

I recall not too long ago seeing threads about how good Inzi was with his selection for CT and also "I am sorry Azhar" thread. Last game was the first which Pak lost after a string of wins, since the CT loss to India in league stages. After that they were brilliant, by not conceeding more than 236 in any game until last. May be Hafeez and co know what they are doing. He certainly did in the final I suppose?

Just a neutral perspective!

I'm mainly concerned with our fast bowling, which should get support on NZ tracks but as I said, except Hassan no one's doing the job. Let's see how they do today.

Where has this german looking pacer come from, real quick!

Just got in the house and checked the team list and it looks like Hafeez is in the team. I'm outta here. As a matter of principle I am not going to follow today's game. Good luck guys. When will they ever learn? Oh, when will they ever learn. Hope more of you will stop watching and following Pakistan cricket while the shameless nepotism and stupidity continues.

Azhar is a problem: but not the only one. The entire line up is a problem barring Fakhar

A full ball at leg stump and he is blocking it to mid on

This is Malik's chance to step up, I hope he doesn't chicken out like always does when the stage is set for him to shine

Barring the both of them scoring a run a ball hundred everything else is useless. They will score mediocre 50 or less and damage Pakistan cricket long term

I just find you lot hard to please. How can someone go bang bang every single game. I see a tendency that after 4-5 dots, people start getting frustrated. I don't know the politics behindPak batsmen playing tuk tuk but generally a guy like Rohit knows he can cover ground at the end, so may be same applies to Malik and Hafeez!

This leggie should be taken apart today , just for wearing sunglasses when there is no sun.

That's also for UAE - bowlers bowl on those tracks to make the leather piece softer, so that the darters can choke run. And, for the domestic wickets, where you need to keep in on spot at 120KM ....

On top of that, PCB arranges a AUS/SAF/ENG/NZ tour once in a decade, therefore it takes bowlers time to adjust. In CT, last 2/3 match pacers bowled exceptionally well, they 'll do it here as well (may be by then it'll be 4-0).

But, mark this post - if Ul Haq doesn't do highest level of Monafeki, PAK'll win the T20 series, after 3 weeks in NZ.

The problem is Pakistan has too many of the same time of batsmen: Malik = Hafeez = Sarfraz.
Babar and Azhar are about the same in terms of impact.

The real batting will start when shadab and Faheem come out to bat.

I wish, like CT win today's game doesn't do long term damage ..............

They cannot take singles against spinners? 😡

NZ have given them slow wicket to make series interesting, We cannot manage that one for get about typical NZ wicket

We aren’t getting anywhere by just blocking everything, we need to knock the ball around and get the scoreboard ticking.

That's true, short term goals have always been our priority

And the situation is to block everything coming our way?

It’s a well established school of thought of Pakistani captains and coaches: with wickets down, eat up balls and take game to last ten overs
