New Zealand vs Pakistan | 2nd ODI | Saxton Oval | Jan 9, 2018 | Pakistan Innings

Accepted, may be Hasan then. I have seen cricket from my diaper days, because mom was daughter of a civil servant, born/raised in Karachi and lived and Pindi as well, big fan of cricket - took me to grounds in AUS, UK ...... in diaper.

FZ isn't a bat choice, because he can be a Sohail like all-rounder.
 
And still people think why babar not recognise outside Pakistan can't sea reason now?? He can only play good
against WI /srilanka .
 
all our batters can hit like that if they get ripped like Hasan and stay off the ghee
 
Its all Azhar Ali fault he sets the wrong tempo of the inning. I am sorry but he needs dropping from top order. The guy playing defensive cricket and we end up playing like him and end up a mediocre inning score. Fakhar and Faheem should open the inning.

Definitely, but Amir isn't the guy you want as captain.

Hasan should be groomed.
 
Are people actually talking about Amir as captain? The strike bowler who can't even pick any wickets unless it's the lower order in front of him. Most ineffective bowler in the last 2 years. Should keep that economy rate to himself as that isn't his job as a strike bowler.

Was a much better player at the start of his career.

He's started to buy into this Mickey Arthur crap where he is meant to be the anchor of the innings. Lost all intent in his batting.
 
Why every one is against Umar? Guy can be a changed man - he is still under 30, and top, top quality player on song. This is a 60 metre ground and 2/3 PAK players got out trying to play hook/pull (teams do analyze these stats) - Umar like player should be MVP of this PAK side, and he is keeping these days. Today, Kiwi pacers kept PAK top order on back foot in a 60 metere ground on a slow deck - because there is none to challenge them.

My biggest concern is Ul Haq - guy tells something, does opposite. Might call back Butt as Captain!!!!!!

This would have definitely been valid a couple of years ago but Umar is now simply a club cricketer. The only shot he has left is a pre-meditated hoick over midwicket.

All minor criticisms aside, this is a seriously poor batting performance.

Arguably the worst I've seen in the last few years of ODIs. There needs to be accountability; simply not good enough for the Pakistan cricket team - this will be the worst score at this ground ever.

For me it's fitness. At that height you can't afford a belly. Needs to come back with Malik or Kohli level fitness.
 
And to think Wahab, Irfan and Azhar as captain let NZL score 280 from this exact same situation 2 years ago...
 
If Pakistan get to 220 we have a chance because its a slow low surface and we can win this with shadab and ali bowling. Come on get 220

I seriously have no faith in Inzi. If he can make way for his nephew he can do anything. He has no future insight..seems like he is another one of former players who is still stuck in the 90s.

There is so much hate for umar akmal on here he should be recalled for t20is he is perfect for these kind of grounds.He is still the only guy in whole Pakistan who can hit pacers with ease.

That's why I want to see him as captain - guy needs ownership to get charged inside. He is exactly opposite of MoHa type - give him the poisoned chalice, he'll die drinking it, but won't flee. Every other cricketer would have been gone after 6 years of isolation - this guy made it a return, mentally, much, much stronger person than it looks.

Foot note: Without yelling at team mates, still you can be tough & competitive, fight till end - PAK had the best example of that.
 
If my weather app is to be believed (it's accurate about 50% of the time) then rain is very possibly going to rescue Pakistan here.

Can't be - he hit 19 fours & 4 Six in his last century in 75 balls - one shot can't earn that. Batsman should be backed for his ability, not from score card. He has temperament issue, hence I don't call it for Test, but he is the guy for top 3.

No he can't .... I have lost count how many times he has been caught slogging at cow corner and that too well within 15 yards of the rope!
 
Hasan has now made more runs in this match than Azhar, Imam, Babar and Sarfraz combined.

yes, but we dont know from the scorecard: if he was dropped at any stage, did he get easy singles that allowed no pressure to build. all things which impact pakistani cricketers at international level.

Make him fit then, it's possible. He is not 35. Waise, PAK's current Captain isn't actually that Jagya hua murti, when it comes to fitness. Umar was beneficiary of such double standard, now make him pay back. If there is no double standard, he'll know what to do.

I'll drop Azhar Ali SIX times in PP - he won't hit a single squire cut on the rise in his 7th attempt, with 9 men inside and only one man at extra cover.

First thing in batting is ability to hit the flying thing sweetly, after that coaches put discipline in it, and system makes batsmen intelligent, strategic, teach them how to build an innings. If 10 hours knocking could make a Steve Smith, then top batsmen would have come only from billionaire family - khao, pio and do practice.

Pakistan batting in shambles as both times it was the lower order which has had to pick up the slack for the top and middle order collapsing

Obviously net practice is not enough. One has to spend time in middle.
 
Hasan knock shows how flat the pitch was. Slap on all these senior pros in the side.
