So I was curious about the elections and decided it to click on #PakistanElections2018 and the at the top of the feed is an article from an Indian news site casting doubts over the election. As I scroll down I see hundreds of tweets from Indian news sources and Indian journalists on twitter and the odd tweet from the Washington Post, not one Pakistani source! Every tweet was from an Indian source and it was mostly negative. This is odd and cause usually when elections happen the news sources from that country are highlighted on social media and it makes sense that they would report on it the most and have the most interest yet this isn't the case for Pakistan.

Twitter is clearly trying to manipulate the election by choosing what to show. Btw I haven't even heard of most of the Indian channels, googled anything related to them and even watch desi content youtube. In fact I follow some Pakistani news sources on twitter yet didn't get any of those tweets in my. Something similar must be going on Facebook.

This is some disgusting manipulation being done by Twitter and their team responsible for posting "news". Pakistanis regardless of their political leanings need to speak out about this on social media, this isn't no big deal. This is the EXACT samething the American media has been railing against Facebook and Twitter for promoting so called "Fake News" by Russian sources trying to manipulate popular opinion and compromise the elections.

This is clearly agenda driven by Twitter, I think people need to talk about this especially the government and the media, they need to take this up with Twitter and other social media companies. There's no reason why they should only face scrutiny for their sketchy role in the Trump election and Brexit.

Actually, any thing you search on Twitter from Pakistan has an Indian news source on top. It's disgusting.

If you type #PakistanElections2018 you can see for yourself.

The news establishment will play this down as something "innocent" and just some "crazy conspiracy theory", yet "Russian hackers" and "Fake news" isn't a conspiracy theory but an actual security concern.

It's only on PP that I come to realize that we have more clout than we think. :91:

Most people will know that it is Indian manipulation. There desperation is clear for all to see after Nawaz was imprisoned. Ultimately, Pakistanis will decide who wins today not India or anyone else.

For me the experience with Twitter was different. The top result was someone called "Desi George" praising the Pakistan Election Commission, and the second was Arvind Kejriwal of the Indian Aam Aadmi Party praising IK.

Indian newspapers show up more in search results simply because they have a much larger circulation. TOI is the world's largest English language newspaper. Not everything is an Indian conspiracy. If anything Twitter leans towards favoring the Democratic Party, which itself favors Pakistan more than the Republicans.

I dont think the contents of this thread should be of concern or taken too seriously.
