"When an Indian fighter pilot who had been captured by Pakistan was released on Friday, it capped a humiliating episode for India and a surreal week for him."

https://www.nytimes.com/2019/03/01/world/asia/india-pakistan-plane-abhinandan-varthaman-india.html

"Consider this. India struck Pakistan in the middle of the night in what was a retaliatory action for the attack in Pulwama on 14 February in which more than 40 Indian troops were killed. Pakistan's response was swift and audacious, striking India in broad daylight the next day."

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-india-47414490

So both bbc and ny times are biased against India now? Honestly watching some of the Indian reactions to these articles is actually hilarious. The desperation

I doubt she wrote a lot of the article. Most of her twitter is pro-India. The other guy posts a lot of anti-India content though.

I thought I saw you in the other thread asking a neutral poster to look at neutral sources rather than what Pakistanis post on this forum. Now that you have multiple neutral sources and opinions presented in front of you, you have made this neutral source "anti-India".

I hope you take time to reflect and realize that you will always convince yourself that a certain narrative is true, because you are brainwashed. You are a product of the ugly Indian media - and its not your fault. I hope you and your countrymen are able to wake up soon from this mass hysteria, for both of our country's sake.

It has everything to do with extremists Hinduism, it has nothing to do with nationalism.

Nationalism would make you want to see a bigger picture and wouldn’t let any radicalized extremists Hindu lunatic kill its own people and risk billion other over a seat.

Wow first time I've seen NYT write something positive about Pak. Modi is an idiot the whole international media is laughing at India now.

India is thoroughly humiliated and exposed as a war mongering, hate filled nation of insane people.

Not to mention, Modi Ji thinks nuclear war is some sort of bollywood movie where there will be a happy ending. The whole world should be angry at Modi, he is more dangerous than Kim Jong Il.

Apprently indian media, the villain from Abhi's video, is claiming that Pakistan made the poor pilot record a propoganda video before his release. That's why it was delayed.

I can't believe majority indians would completely and blindly trust the stupidest media (indian media) in the whole world. Fox news looks billion times more professional when compared with indian media.

BBC and NYTimes simple validating what we all knew all along. Time to wake up and smell the coffee, Indians. Modi is dragging you down. Let it go and take the peace offering. War is not the answer. Dial it down now!

There is nothing unique about this either. Al Jazeera, the Guardian, Vox and most other respected news organizations are giving the real account of this mini-war, which has Pakistan looking like the mature, strong, peace-loving nation and India as the terroristic, weak state.

Optics are important. But tonight many Pakistanis are dead due to the weak decision to gift the pilot back.

I don't get it. The international govts are telling Pakistan to stop terrorism, while the media is telling India has been humiliated..

Sad to see Pakistani public glorifying loss of life as long as it's Indian soldiers.

They're terrorists. Remind me again what you wanted done with terrorists in the other thread?

I don't get it. The international govts are telling Pakistan to stop terrorism, while the media is telling India has been humiliated..

If Kashmiri freedom fighters are terrorists then Gandhi was also a terrorist and so were all those who fought against british. Even George Washington is considered a terrorist by your definition.

Pakistan does not have a magic wand where it tells all terrorists to disappear like harry potter. These guys are non state actors Pak has as much control on them as your government.

Non-state actors operating on Pakistani soil and Pakistan has no control over them ? Why is US telling Pakistan to do more to stop terrorism and stop supporting it ?

Tell your government start diaglogue, Pakistan is good at it trust me, ask the Americans, we are the ones who are brokering peace between Taliban and Americans.

US also said the samething you are saying now but they learned their lesson and don't want to waste anymore time so now they are saying we are open for talks.

Of course they will say what is in their national interest but I find it interesting US govt calls Pakistan a terrorist hub and Pakistanis accepting that Pakistan has no control over it's own soil.. is it Pakistan's official stand ? I hope not.

Yes, Pakistan is good for peace talks. It's a peaceful country after all. Loves to talk. However, has no control over terrorists operating on it's own soil ?

What about the terrorist control on your soil. In this entire narrative what concerns me is the lack of internal look by people on Indian side. Pak has terrorists living amongst the general population and I am certain all Pakistanis agree, because if there were no terrorists Pakistan wouldnt be fighting a war on terror for nearly 2 decadesbon it's soil. Now let's just focus on the other side, a native of IOK blew up one of the most heavily guarded regions, with explosives sourced locally, while this was a large scale situation for which most, if not all sympathize as any innocent life loss is dreadful, we have heard of situations (small scale and different in nature) such as these for years and we have also heard from local sources the brutatlity the locals are put through... To the locals I am sure they see it as an act of terrorism on them albeit carried out by uniform men. However that means nothing

I am certain politics is being played on the Pak front as well, bias media is to be expected on either side however just reviewing the event, evidence, narrative and examining both sides one should definitely er on the side of caution and not promote war which will cause nothing but destruction

I don't see the connection between what happened in that tragic incident and what is happening at the LoC.

The fighters who attacked Peshawar school said "Now you will know how does it feel to lose your children" .

Neutral sources for specifics (though to be honest, in this case it wouldn't help much since only India/Pakistan have the first hand information), not opinion pieces. Some random guy calling it "humiliating" doesn't matter.

It’s not a random guy

It’s a New York Times piece which is being read all over the world :))

And? Pakistan is not an occupying force that is unjustly holding a population and their lands hostage. Anyone's children and innocents dying anywhere is always a tragedy. However, when a terrorist army like the IAF lose a few men at the hands of the brave Kashmiri people, it is not a tragedy.

The fighters in Peshawar termed it as revenge against Pakistani army for killing their children.

What I am seeing is that after all the humiliation the Indians are get back to their traditional terrorists terrorists hoo ha.

The fighters in Peshawar termed it as revenge against Pakistani army for killing their children.

Once again, how is that connected to Indian soldiers getting put down because they continue to oppress a population that hates them? Of all the Indians to visit our forum, you are the least bright.

I am least bright ? It means some others who fight with you are better than me ?

The connection is clear.
1. Both are acts against army.
2. Both are non state actors.
3. Both are revenge attacks.

Hope you call both of them justified.

I’ve been harping about this for the last few days.

Even NDTV is finally starting to question the ridiculous sources the BJP gave their media about killing 300 terrorists.
No satellite imagery, no video, not even a shred of circumstantial evidence.

Nearly all of the respected foreign media are not buying any of India media’s initial claims and that includes NDTV but at least they are one of the few ones that have backtracked now.

They either got bad intelligence or it was just a theatrical stunt by Modi for some cheap votes - probably the latter.

Pakistan airforce lured the indians into the trap? :))) :)))

What a joke IAF is then

The americans never side with us and this is the first time they are, Besti hogaye Indian Govt ki

MM Alam, Rashid Minhas, Hasan Siddiqui - all Karachiites, just saying :ashwin

Acha sorry :amir2

Yes it's clear India lost the military and propaganda mini battle. But we need to wait... If Modi wins the election, then it would have been all worth it for him and his party.

Says it all really. This has been my contention all along.

The fact remains: Pakistan from the get go wanted to end this episode on the good note.

India, instead of their continuous search for frictions and 'isolation' of Pakistan, should aim for dialogue.

You have no control over your so called none state actor. What will be achieved by dialogue?

Did the plane came down through a dog fight or was it from a anti vehicle missile from the ground?

Of course they will say what is in their national interest but I find it interesting US govt calls Pakistan a terrorist hub and Pakistanis accepting that Pakistan has no control over it's own soil.. is it Pakistan's official stand ? I hope not.

Interesting.

Pakistan is a major non-Nato Ally of the US.

Yet according to you, it is a designated "terrorist hub".

Did the plane came down through a dog fight or was it from a anti vehicle missile from the ground?

There must be some reason why PAF pilot ( don't know his name) was in news. I think he was the one who shot down the IAF plane.

You have no control over your so called none state actor. What will be achieved by dialogue?

The alternative to dialogue is war.

If Germany and France can do it then so can Pakistan and India. As long as the people are willing to, of course.

What do you propose? I'll read your post.

Good to see such a reputable newspaper printing the truth. For all of India's fake news and propaganda, they slapped with the chithar of truth

Good to see such a reputable newspaper printing the truth. For all of India's fake news and propaganda, they slapped with the chithar of truth

but then again, the reputable paper is saying the plane was shot from the ground and it wasnt a dog fight

Modi and his India have had their noses rubbed on the ground nice and hard. They have been unable to prove any of their so called accomplishments. No pictures to show over the 350 they claim to have killed, No Pak pilot to show for the plane they knocked down. Indians should stop embarrassing their Bharat Mata any further.
