What BS :)) Imran Khan was a bigger dictator than YK will ever be. Yes, he was a fantastic captain and a well respected man, but no one, including himself, would deny that he was a dictator (a successful one too). Btw, you'd be surprised how much respect people have for YK in other countries. In fact, I'd say he's the only senior player in our team with support from almost the entire cricketing fraternity

Have you ever seen Imran Khan drag a fan from the field and beat him up? Did Imran Khan ever quit in the eleventh hour and left the team stranded? Did players revolt against Imran Khan? Even if they did, Imran Khan didn't resort to resigning. Imran Khan is just pure class. He was always good for Pakistan in his playing days and now too. Comparing YK to Imran Khan is an insult to Imran Khan

What a load of rubbish! May I ask, in what ways was YK a dictator? What exactly was his crime? Was it that he made the team train hard? Was it that he made Malik jelous by taking the captaincy away from him? Are these what you call the traits of a dictator?

I think the events of the past few weeks and months has made one thing very clear, and that is the fact that only one dictator exists in the PCB and his name is Ijaz Butt. He hands out bans at will, takes the role of 'independant judge', makes all selection decisions and treats himself and his entire family to 5* luxury hotels all over the world. The man makes Mugabe look like a warrior for democracy. This is what you call a dictator. Please do let me know how any of this relates to YK. Or is it the case that, the fact that YK wanted the team to train properly is enough to make him a dictator in your eyes.

You should, as a supporter of Pakistani cricket, be attacking Malik and his gang for their stupid behaviour, which harmed not only our performances, but rubbed out reputation in the mud even more than it already was. It is simply stupid to support a gang that did so much damage to our cricketing image and performance.

He has done worse slapped fans who get to friendly with him, but we do not have 101 tv station covering it so it is not repeated a couple of million times on TV

A dictator suppressing revolts? That doesn't sound too great to me. The honourable thing to do when your entire team is taking oaths against you, is to resign. At least that's how I see it. I don't think quitters should be ashamed under these circumstances. Anyway, they both were dealing with different kinds of players in their time, and the media wasn't quite the same back then either. Imran Khan isn't an angel by any means, but we shouldn't ruin this thread with this discussion

i won't call him a dictator but because of his family and educational pedigree, he was very influential. He was oxford educated, came from a famous family and had the cricketing skills of one of the best world class allrounders, all this made him an awe figure in the dressing room. Most of our other players were from poor backgrounds and in Imran they saw someone who they wanted to emulate, which made him the role model of everyone.

Difference was due to Imran's stature and influence on Pakistan cricket and masses, no one had the guts to revolt against him.

It took years for Imran to earn that kind of command over the team, it wasn't done overnight...not to mention his sheer performance, which demanded respect.

Karachi: 10 months ago, during the ICC Champions Trophy, the senior players in the Pakistan cricket team took an oath on the Holy Quran to remove captain Younus Khan. Shockingly, they used the Quran YK had given to someone to take that oath. Jang has new information about this incident.

One senior player said that YK's nature on the ground (mizaaj - not sure about the exact translation) is what turned players against him. When the seven players met in a hotel room in Johannesburg, one senior player said that having a Quran to take an oath on was very important. At the time, none of the players had a copy of the Quran. The players remembered that YK had given the team fitness trainer (David Dywer) a translated copy of the Quran as a gift. They called the fitness trainer on his cellphone and got this copy, and used it against him.

Sources say this is why YK left captaincy in November. The PCB asked Mohammad Yousuf after all this whether he was involved in this oath taking against YK. He answered...

salaam to all my brothers here, i hope you people know that it is in fact not at all allowed to take an oath on the holy book, we muslims are not allowed to take an oath on no one but our creator.ALLAH S.W.T ..cant take oath on the noble prophet s.a.s or on the holy book or on our parents etc.....this is as far as i know,i hope momo or jadz or someone can help me here.ALLAH know's best

First of all Imran does lie a lot (when it comes to his personal image). He couldn't say yes to dictator query, could he?

During his time it was all one man show. He was the one man selector, pick or drop, no body would dare to ask a question.

In one interview Inzi said that he still remember how Imran cursed (@#$%^) him and he would not repeat the suit.

But then Inzi was also labelled as Dictator but he was nothing compared to Imran.

Lie a lot? What are you on about. I have heard quite a few interviews by Imran, where he openly said that he made sure he got the players he wanted, he made all the decisions, and nothing in the team ever happened without his approval. He said batters wouldnt play false strokes coz they knew he was waiting for him in the dressing romm with some words that they were scared of hearing.

He openly said how selectors resigned coz he wouldnt listen to them over team selection matters. SO please stop, passing judgments like "Imran lies a lot."

YK was not directly involved but he could've turned the table on PCB by not playing in to their hands.

YK should not have accepted the captaincy when YS/PCB organized the rebellion against Malik.

Jaisi karni wasi bharni .... he was the outcome of a rebellion and later victim of another. (and his best buddy was leading the coup)

I still don't think Malik is a worldclass batsman BUT to be honest I'll take his captaincy now!!!
 
Its such a shame how downhill these players have gone. During inzy-woolmer times malik,akmal and afridi were our best odi players but since inzy retirement, only if they have stick to cricket and not politics. They started politics and their own careers suffered.

First of all YK was himself out.

From being captain of WC Champion team to a banned player who was harmful to team's harmony

to someone who had to come in terms with PCB after a futile lost battle and wasted so much precious time.

To me it looks like that who were against Malik, getting kicked out...

Well lets say its true that it took place at Inzamams house, but still why would Inzamam be invovled in selection matters after his retirement, he himself was fed up at that time with all the media hate he was getting. The only reason why Inzamam never wanted Misbah in the team was because of his insecurities of him taking over, because as far as i know, his grooming for captaincy was discussed in the past.

After inzis retirement, Misbahs playing couldnt bother him much

Also, Misbah had scored a 100 with pakistan A at that time in t20, so he had the merit to defend his selection, plus Malik also bought Mansoor Amjad(who was a friend of Malik and ended up playing too many games for SIalkot). ok lets suppose Misbah was a captaincy candidate but to groom a new captain for future you first need to get him in the 11 and tbh there was no spot available in the 11 for Misbah (opening slots were always open but misbah is a middle order bat) and the religious thing doesn't make any sense when Kaneria and Younus both played for Pakistan under Inzi for years.

They could had added him in the squads........ He was a regular member of the A team.

Oh well, one thing is for sure, had he played at that time, he wouldn't had been playing today and made a big name of himself and of his legendary captaincy.

I wouldn't take everything Shahrayar Khan says as gospel (pardon the pun). But if it is true you can see why people like Inzi are so detested.

Instead of spreading peace and harmony they spread division and chaos.

Maybe it puts Yousuf's comments regarding Misbah in to prospective.

Religion shouldn't have any say in any sports.
 
According to Shehryar Khan it was Saeed Anwar who introduced Tableeghi Jamaat culture into the team. IIRC i remember MoYo mentioning somewhere about Saeed Anwar's bro who was with the Jamaat and he convinced him to convert.
 
Not sure how much truth there is it's just statement and more statement from different sources without actual proofs so we should just leave it to ALLAH to decide who was right or wrong. We can't blame anyone here without proof.
