watch it all got to sh***ts once Misbah retires. Whether its YK, Azhar, Hafeez, etc. none of them command the same respect or are as calm and level headed as Misbah.


I have to say most Pk fans do not realize how great post 2010 years have been until the harsh reality sets in after Misbah's departure.

Add 90s to that as well. The chaos in the locker room with factions being made within the team, and constant opposition towards captains (that's why we changed captains so often then till 2003) was all covered up by our good performances in the decade. If we were performing poorly back then all those disputes would leak out too.

Yes and this is why we performed better in the 80s since we had a strong captain in Imran who could unify the team
If we had Imran play tilll 1999 Pakistan wouls have been like Australia of 2003 and 2007 WCs!

Shehryar comment in his book that Inzi kept Misbah out of 11 because of religious and other reason.

Pure rubbish from Khan. Show me one innings of Misbah during his initial run, where he displayed any of the quality that he showed post-2007.

There was just one available spot in the team during the noughties, in the middle-order. Was Misbah any better than Faisal Iqbal, Malik, Razzaq and the others who batted there under Inzi? I don't think so. Misbah had a break-out year in '07 and dropping him in '09 was a poor move, I agree, but expecting the selectors and Inzi to keep Misbah in the during the mid-2000's is stretching it.

As I have already said in other threads, Inthikhab Alam merely "heard" from a friend that the oath was taken at Inzamam's house, whereas Malik, who was actually involved, has come out and said that it was held in Yousuf's hotel-room. Can that friend of Inthikhab's, distinguish one bearded, classy batsman but poor fielder from another? Seems unlikely.

Inzamam had no stake in the team after his retirement so this story of Intikhab's makes zero sense. For the people accusing him of being unfavorable to individuals based on their religious views, please explain why Kaneria and Akhtar were crucial members of his team and have nothing but praise for aloo, even after one of them is paid to make controversial remarks on the tele and the other can gain sympathy, by playing the victim.

No need to bunch Inzamam with someone like Yousuf.

Pakpassion is a treasure trove of archives, and how the events unfolded over the years. We have very short memory so it was important to look back into the Younis Khan episode in 2009.

This is still relevant as all these characters are still relevant after 8 years. Inzamam is chief selector, Shoiab Malik despite poor performances has been inducted & kept into the team in 2014 [after removing better odi performer Fawad Alam].

The team Pakistan captained by Younis Khan, was playing against in 2009, was New Zealand.
After the odi series Younis gave his resignation stating he has lost trust of his players.There were 6-7 players who were responsible for the batting collapse.
Afridi and Yousuf have retired and so has Younis Khan.

Today Inzamam is chief selector for 2 years and has done everything to include Ahmed Shehzad, Kamran Akmal, Shoaib Malik, Hafeez, Umar Akmal, Salman Butt in the team. Salman Butt was banned and jailed for spotfixing in 2010 after which he completed his sentence and playing in the domestic circuit. Badly trying to get back to the National team with the help of Inzamam. Akmals are thankfully not in the team but also in contention thank to Inzamam. Akmal's cousin Babar Azam though is in the side.

T20 squad is announced after the 2nd lost odi, by chief selector Inzamam including all the poor performers of this odi series and previous Shoaib Malik, Hafeez ,Ahmed Shahzad and Babar Azam.

PAkistan team trains hard for 2 days, tries to bowl well which they did and then again batting collapses in the most horrible manner in 20 years. 16 for 6, whole batting lineup is gone before 20 runs and team barely avoids the lowest score Pakistan has gotten bowled out for, by posting 74 and losing out the match and the series.
