I am pitting all-time One Day international Asian World XI v All-time One day rest of the World XI

ODI Asian XI

Tendulkar

Rohit Sharma

Zaheer Abbas

Virat Kohli

Javed Miandad

Mahendra Dhoni (W)

Kapil Dev

Imran Khan (C)

Wasim Akram

Waqar Younus

Murlitharan

ODI World XI

Gilchrist (W)

Gayle

Viv Richards (C)

Brian Lara

Jacques Kallis

A B Devilliers

Ian Botham

Shane Warne

Richard Hadlee

Joel Garner

Glen Mcgrath

Strangely I would back the Asian XI to pip the World XI in ODI cricket.Asian team has a more skilled bowling attack in Wasim,Waqar,Imran ,Murli and Kapil.Mcgrath ,Hadlee and Garner were more accurate but not as penetrative. In Imran and Kapil Asian XI has 2 of the best allrounders .World Xi has slightly more destructive batting with the llikes of Viv,Gilly,Gale or Devillers but the Asian XI has more technical skill in batting with Tendulkar,Zaheer ,Miandad and Kohli.World XI has the best ODI batsmen of all in Viv while Asian XI has the best ODI bowler of all in Wasim and the best ODI allrounder of al in Kapil Dev.The improvistaion of Asian batsmen would compensate for the brute power of the World XI batsmen.

World XI has more match-winners but Asian XI is more balanced.Asian XI.

You can comfortably drop Gayle and make Lara as opener. There is no place for Kallis in the Rest of World XI team ahead of Ponting. Flintoff is also a superior ODI player than Botham. Maybe keep Gayle if you want more spin or Mark Waugh for that matter(great fielder).

Rest of World XI should be

Adam Gilchrist
Brian Lara/Mark Waugh
Ricky Ponting
Viv Richards
AB de Villiers
Michael Bevan
Andrew Flintoff
Richard Hadlee/Shaun Pollock
Shane Warne
Glenn McGrath
Joel Garner

Asian ODI XI

Rohit Sharma
Sachin Tendulkar
Virat Kohli
Zaheer Abbas
Inzamam/Yuvraj Singh/ de Silva
MS Dhoni (c/wkt)
Kapil Dev
Wasim Akram
Muttiah Muralitharan
Waqar Younis
Saqlain Mushtaq

Kapil Dev lower order hitting is important and his economical bowling will complement with Wasim and Waqar(particularly) aggressive bowling. Two spinners because both were legends of the game. MS Dhoni is a master in exploiting his spinners to the best possible.

Asia XI over a series, they have all the ODI GOATs.

GOAT batsman - Kohli
GOAT bowler - Wasim
GOAT WK batsman - Dhoni
GOAT openers - Tendulkar & Rohit
GOAT captain - Dhoni

Gayle, Kallis, Botham lol

For me ROW:

Gilchrist
Waugh
Viv
Ponting
ABDV
Symonds
Klusener
S.Pollock
Warne
Garner
McGrath

Beats Asia. Most of the playing are proven in big matches which is important. The underrated part of a team is fielding, and the top 6 are all ATG fielders

My best Asian team would be:
Anwar
Tendulkar
Kohli
Sangakarra
Miandad
Dhoni
Kapil
Imran
Wasim
Waqar
Murali

In general the non Asia just better for me. Much better 3-4-5, Kohli the only Asia middle order bat as good as Ponting, Viv, ABdV

Also a better bowling attack for ROW. Wasim is the best pace bowler of Asia by far, but Pollock, McGrath and Garner all >> Waqar, Imran, Kapil

While Murali > Warne, Warne is amazing in big games and will perform better than Murali for me

You overate aussies in almost all comparisons unduly. Secondly , in your teams ABDV is never a big tournament or pressure ODI player, same is true about ponting barring 2003-2006. Even with your teams , i will support Asia Eleven to beat ROW Eleven in most of the days in ODI Cricket.

Rest of the world XI :
1. Adam Gilchrist
2. Brian Lara
3. Ricky Ponting
4. Viv Richards
5. Ab de Villiers.

No way we are beating this side.

ABdV averages like 70 or something in WC's. In 2015 he was playing a top innings before SA got stitched up, nothing he could do about that.

Ponting was great in WC's. He was solid in 1999, and great in 2003, 2007. Even in 2011 he clutched up in the quarters, scoring a hundred vs India. I can't really think of many players who were more clutch in WC's. Obviously Viv and Lloyd maybe, but not many since then. Def more so than Kohli, Sachin, Sharma etc.

What other Aus players am I overrating. I have repeatdly said Ponting, Lee, Starc, Hussey, Clarke etc are very overrated in tests. if I rate some player highly, that is with reason. Aus has one more WC's that all of Asia combined you see...

While I rate Bevan very highly, I don't think he is necessary in a team with a top order like this. I prefer symonds for fielding and striking

In that team, Bevan probably not required but assuming on a given day if Saqi or Murali gets through Viv and ABD on a turning wicket, then Bevan with his calm influence can still carry the team forward.

To each their own but feel Viv and AB are very dynamic and destructive middle order(together both cover the striking and entertainment aspect and a no.7 will also be a striker, I go with Flintoff for his hitting and 24 average as bowler) so a finisher in Bevan brings the calm influence to the team.

Symonds also adds up a lot to the table and you compliment him with Klusenar for fifth bowling.

Pretty surprising nobody is considering Lasith Malinga in their Asia XIs. He was best ODI bowler in the last 15 years from Asia
