What's new

official day 5 thread [24/11/05]

haha, he's bowled that from about 3 miles behind the crease if they show a replay

Now thats really time wasting.. I think we should win the series.. the english (apart from flintoff, who is half their team) is nowhere close to us

it was always tough asking your team to bowl someone out within 48 overs, even for Australia, so it was a good effort from our bowlers on this of placid tracks.

Sami bowling in the low 80's

Raz are u convince now Sami is good for nothing. or do u want to give him one last chance (as always). aisay we will discuss this in detail later :)

but he got it in 134 balls.. so Pak never really wasted too much time there bud..
I feel Pakistan lost its way when they dropped England in the 1st innings and some poor umpiring decisions when Pak batted in 1st innings

I won't blame Inzi for not declaring earlier. We would have been stupid to take a risk when we are 1-0 up in the series. Very well done Pakistan. Stomped a mudhole in England's confidence.

now lets do the talking about sami. I dont want him in the team, i want new blood. I dont care who ever it is going to be, i want some one else than Sami.

and in place of Afridi , i want either Razzaq if fit otherwise, i want Mansoor Amjad

great effort by our boys. really scared hell out of England. when Vaughan came to bat it seems he has just visited a graveyard. Special performances by Inzi, Shoaib and Rana.

INSHALLAH we will go for a win in Lahore and defeat these cry babies 2-0

my thoughts exactly, we were no way near to any comfortable place thanks to Rana and Akhtar, but to me the pitch did not look as if had anything to the bowlers at all and the way Flintoff and KP were playing, had they have Bell's wicket intact, they would have gone for the win.

This match will go down as one that we could have easily won .. at 113 /3 in first innings ..pakistan was on top ..and it was for them to force the issue ..but they dropped those simple catches ..and hence could not win this test ...I am disappointed ..that after having England on the ropes ..they could not deliver the killer blow

this was a losing draw seeing how close we were

Come on yaar, I seriously was terrified when Rana got out today. We went in with England having a better chance of victory, and the day ended with England barely saving a defeat.

To be honest Inzi was/is never an aggressive captain who would declare quickly and go for a win by taking a chance that England would chase down the score, so it wasnt really going to change in this game. He had to make sure there were only two possiblities of the result before he declared which is his style. Anyways day3 cost us the game, we fought like champions today but too bad we couldnt win but I am still proud for the effort put in by the team.

wellwe did so well to come so close but from where we were thos mornong a winning draw is pretty good

England have it all to do in last test. we're still 1-0 up.

But we must play well, pitch will matter, and Afridi will be missed

Agreed. Also we didn't need to win either. We were 1 up in series and needed to go to Lahore with that at least intact. No need to take any risks. At one point with Pieterson and Flintoff going well there was an outside chance of England winning. What would all the critics said if we had lost this game after declaring?!

Anyway a Captain's approach is determined by his personality, experience and current resources. Allan Border, although naturally an aggressive personality, was a very conservative captain because he was used to playing in a losing Australia team. It was important to become hard to beat first before considering winning. Similarly Taylor was quite conservative mainly due to his own nature. It wasn't until Steve Waugh that the Aussies had a really aggressive Captain but by then they also had one of the best teams in history so he could afford to be.

Pakistan are in a similar stage as Australia were when Border took over. That's how far behind we are. Only now are we starting to get more professional in our preparation, coaching and setting up Academies. Inzy has put his own personal stamp on the team and made us hard to beat first. We can see that our performances have improved in the last 12 months. We should now move into the consolidation phase, where some of youngsters that have been introduced - Akmal, Butt, & Rana amongst others really kick on.

Exactly.

Dead wicket + inconsistent bowling attack. I can't blame Inzi.

Good fought game. Well played both teams. I look forward to Lahore on Tuesday. COME ON ENGLAND
