Exactly 30 years ago!

I wish we had a batsman like him now.

I watched it. Imran got a ton too.

On an uber-flat Oval wicket, Foster broke down after a handful of overs.

Fast bowler Dilley picked up an injury during the match but bravely carried on at medium pace. He got six wickets for about 150 as I recall.

Botham ended up with the worst ever bowling return by an Englishman. 3-240 I think. This signalled that he was no longer a test class bowler.

Edmonds and Emburey had bowled well in tandem for a couple of years but were unable to stop the deluge of runs. I think Edmonds retired after this match (and Emburey should have too).

England were so bad in those days. I think they won five tests out of fifty in the second half of the eighties.
