need to score runs but also tire them out. thats why test match batting requires players with good defensive technique to go with stroke play. need to know when to attack and also to play attrition style cricket.

Saud shakeel replaced him, Fawad had pour outings and it didn't help saud scored a double century

Fawad is aged now, its a shame because he was never given proper chances. Had misbah not been so stubborn this guy was the perfect batter and someone like asad shafiq shouldn't have been in his place.
 
All posters commenting about low scoring rate do not seem to comprehend how test cricket is played in sessions and due to situations.
 
Since the day this saud shakeel has been selected in the team Pakistan has started losing tests on regular basis.

He should be booted out.

you can play slow to tire out bowlers but not dead slow. this is dead slow.

Pakistan lost two wickets on trott so being careful not to give upper hand to England by losing couple more with silly shots like they were doing throughout Bangladesh series without regard for the situation. Both these players are doing a fine job to drive Pakistan slowly back to strength position, then they can make hay again.
 
50* plus partnership for the Baber-Saud duo. The pace has slowly significantly but run keeps coming for the green side

but if you are too defensive, bowlers will gain confidence and the you will get a jaffa which will be the end.

Most bowlers exceed in their home conditions and struggle elsewhere. A "mid" test bowler in the current era would do that, they both don't have the chance to do so
 
Bobby can't even score Test runs in Pakistan unless it's in Pindi or Karachi. Absolutely mediocre outside these 2 venues.
