What's new

Osama Bin Laden is DEAD

So he was living in Pakistan in broad daylight ....the world's most notorious terrorist living in Pakistan in a damn mansion?? how's this possible??

biggest ones live in the White House do they not ?

As sick as it may sound , people are celebrating his death outside the White House with flags and what not

Yea what would you do if he attacked your country in that manner? I'm celebrating his death. It's a moment to celebrate.

I don't think so, there is no doubt that Pakistani govt has been helping the US with intelligence so it will not be seen as anyone other than AQ harbouring him I would have thought.

He acknowledged this now. :)

this could go two ways, excuse for us to leave afg and leave us alone. or excuse for us to invade pak

Not just " my country " but also my religion and people suffered more than the US , Americans cannot have more hatred for him than I do .

edit - let me add , i am happy he is gone but i do not know if celebrating and partying is something i should be doing . it is sick.

Obama has given credit to Pakistan during his speech - interesting and also the place Usama was shot is nearby my grandmother's house, about half an hour way - now that's creepy.

Well, what's there to laugh about it?

It's one down, atleast.

Why not? he wasn't even a leader of Taliban...if true, it will only trigger more extremism. Would make world more dangerous place.

..yes but i wasn't sure when he said he hopes pak will co-operate, was he trying to put something across? or was it like an informal order

check out some comments from CNN..and i Say this would happen soon

rdrock180 Time to pull all aid to Pakistan. Those savages knew where he was hiding for years. Not in a cave in the mountains but a mansion outside the capital.

Zardari's place as the president of Pakistan is assured, surley?

The main point to take from all this is he stated it isnt over...

Essentially now the spin is that there will be a backlash as Osama is a martyr to all...it is Pakistan's role in this supposed murder that will build militancy even further in the nation and destablise it further. Al Qaeda and Islamic militancy does not end with the death of one man. If anything it will exacerbate the situation.

Pakistan has a tough time ahead and will no doubt be relying on its best friend to keep it safe from these militants they have created. Pakistan is going to get even more dangerous than before.

Very good timing btw ;-)

Good question...but more than that I hope this doesn't mean another 4-years of these PPP jiyaalas.

more than that i hope :zardari does not get too happy and renames Pakistan as Shahid Benazir Bhuttoistan

To be fair.. I personally it more of a informal order - he gave 1-2 mins of his 10 speech to praise Pakistan which is a surprise to me, I think your just over thinking but despite Obama praising Pakistan's efforts, I'm still not getting my hopes high.

How Usama was living in a mansion, in a tourism place nearby Islamabad which is 30 mins away from my house surprises me, creepy man.

He died in Abottabad bro.

Before that, he'll be obviously including Benazir and Zulfiqar Bhutto's death as a part of this and saying how much his family has sacrificed and so and so forth...

Million dollar question is, who was backing him in Pakistan and he obviously had backing of some powerful people ?

Good post . Pakistan should increase security for a couple of weeks in case terrorists start blowing themselves up in Pakistan as a backlash

So what was Osama adoing during his fun stay in Islamabad? :yk

I'm confused

If they really wanted to erase all doubts, wouldn't it have been easier to keep him alive and capture him? Why kill him?

The way people say 9/11 and osama existance and now his death is a hoaz with so much confidence...if only the world leader of rest of countries..and world organizations had that brains!!

ABBOTABAD: A helicopter crashed in Abbottabad near the Pakistan Military Academy Kakul late on Sunday night, police sources said.

The chopper was seen flying low before it crashed, locals said. The sound of gunfire and two small blasts was heard before a massive explosion, sources said.

They added that the third blast damaged windowpanes of the area houses. This was stated to be the first incident of its kind in Abbottabad at night.

The sources said the helicopter fell down in a plot in Sikandarbad, a populated area of the city, spreading panic through the neighbourhood.

The sound of the explosion was heard as far afield as 10 kilometres, the sources added.

because they haven't found it...it's a conspiracy...otherwise they would've captured him like Saddam.

They need to give Bush Jr. some well-deserved airtime after this. Only fair.

So that is Saddam and Osama dead - Ghaddafi is going next

I guess if you were a friend of the US in the past this would be as good a time as any to **** your pants

Apparently Obama knew of the whereabouts of Osama since August 2010 (9 months ago).

Why the hell did they kill him then? Surely you'd have wanted him alive??!! And if he was alone (why was he alone for a start?), then surely you'd capture him?

Why risk a trial? Better to close the chapter.

Don't think they knew about the mansion since august. They probably only knew that he had moved to somewhere in NW.

$1.2 trillion dollars later (and counting) both Osama and Saddam are dead.

I guess the questions is

Why Only US forces were involved in the operation ? in soverign Country called "Islamic republic of Pakistan "

Where is the Body NOW?

Ah at last the world is a better place . No one will go to sleep hungry now , no one will shed a tear or blood , ever . Thank you and God bless the USofA

Timing is indeed very convenient...

The fact that he has reported as dead means very little tbh in terms of attacking terror...it doesn't actually change anything in terms of restricting terror...Islamic militancy isn't suddenly going to come to a halt...if anything it will increase now...it is a symbolic victory for America that Obama can use as a success of his presidency when in fact all it means is that militancy will grow...they have essentially created a martyr...good for America...***** for anywhere where militants exist...

Al Qaeda was never reliant on one man anyway...anytime a miltant leader dies someone new takes his place...the symbolism of his death will only act as a motivator to militants...

These are dark times for Pakistan who have allied with a nation that has links to militants in Pakistan...all we can expect is further destablisation in the Islamic world...and further death to any intellectual solutions in these parts of the world...

One of the anchors just said "Obama bin Laden" :))):)))

Its easy to get them mixed up...they sound so similar! I've accidentally done it a couple times tonight talking to my family about it

You wouldn't get a conspiracy out of a live man facing death, see the case with Saddam? Now Osama's dead, this could all be a conspiracy: he's not been seen defending himself facing a trial. And do note that the Taliban offered OBL to the American government back in 2002, which Bush rejected the stipulations for (one of them being that he should face a lawsuit in a neutral country).

I just get the impression that either OBL was of little worth to Al Qaeda now (else other important figures would've been with him), so left the fighting zones, or he was dead long ago.

If this was a genuine coup like its being made out to be Al Qaeda would implode...but apparently Al Qaeda are more dangerous than ever WITHOUT their leader??

May 1st 1945 Hitler confirmed dead. May 1st 2011, Bin Laden confirmed dead.

Watching CNN , so the story is this house had high walls ( more higher then normal houses around there ) with barbed wire. 2 security gates, no phone and internet service, trash was burned instead of thrown..lot of mail going in and out, tight security. These are some of the things are to be the suspect

Pak is involved for sure but who how? military establshment. Why didnt obama thank kayani

CNN reporter saying Pak will be embarrased

He was merely a figurehead now - america knew that. Nobody else who's lead the Taliban has been as charismatic.

In any case, where would you try OBL ? Guantanamo ?

Why prolong the episode and fan the sentiments and make him more of a martyr than he would be if he's swiftly killed?

It was a coup but even US knows the significance is more symbolic. The war was started in 2001 against OBL and he's now dead.

Pak will go through some tough time in the near future, while Americans celebrate this day. Sad day for Pakistan.

Far be it from us to celebrate the death of another human being - but Bin Laden was responsible for a lot of death himself, by his own admission. Hopefully this gives the victims of 9/11 some closure, though it probably will not. As for Bin Laden, he will await the ultimate judgment now - that of God's.

They just confirmed on CNN that it was a US helicopter. And that is crashed because of mechnical failure. It was bombed by US forces to destroy it.
It brings up several questions. The main one being didnt they have ground support from Pakistan? If they did why did they have to destroy it?

It is a sad day for Pakistan because the country is sure to see some really tough days, but why shouldn't Americans be celebrating? I mean, I don't think they should be outside of the white house partying in the streets like some people are, but this is a huge thing for all Americans.
