Asif is a pathetic walking wicket. Has this guy ever played a ground shot in his life? Or is lofting balls in the air and hoping for the best the only trick up his sleeve?

lol people just need an excuse to start anti-afghan racism. Condemn the incident but hating on an ethnicity says more about yourself than them. Has there never been an altercation between two teams during tense moments before? Were all these incidents inspired by some deep-seated hatred between nations or simply a poor reaction in the heat of the moment from the player?

Afghanistan has a mental block against Pakistan. They lost some narrow games to Pak. What was the bowler doing bowling two full tosses! Madness. He was superb until his last over.

Great game of cricket. Low scoring thriller!

What a memorable ending. Incredible stuff from Naseem.

Apart from Shadab and maybe Asif, what a very poor display of batting. Awful batting performance by nearly everyone and just a poor chase overall. Pakistan batted so conservatively for its own good; a habit they continue to do against Afghanistan.

Rubber match coming up against Sri Lanka. I hope there's enough sense to bench Naseem/Rauf/Shadab and even Rizwan. If Fakhar or Haider need to catch in his place, so be it. The match doesn't matter and keeping the players healthy is crucial.

In a dramatic finish in Sharjah, No.10 batter Naseem Shah slammed two sixes off the first two balls of the final over to seal Pakistan a win against Afghanistan in the Asia Cup.

For the third time in four games, Afghanistan's openers started off all guns blazing, with Rahmanullah Gurbaz leading the charge. Wayward lines from Mohammad Hasnain in the second over saw Gurbaz capitalise and hit him for back-to-back sixes to end the over.

Pakistan countered Gurbaz with more pace, this time in the form of Haris Rauf. Hazratullah Zazai took him on for two fours, but he was saved by a tough dropped chance from Naseem Shah while attempting another big heave.

Rauf, however, found success at the other end with the big wicket of Gurbaz, cleaning him up with a delivery angling into the right-hander.

After attacking Afghanistan with extreme pace early on, Pakistan resorted to the spin duo of Mohammad Nawaz and Shadab Khan to tie them down in the middle overs. The plot worked as Afghanistan batters struggled to score with little pace on the ball.

Nawaz bowled his four overs on the trot, sending back Karim Janat for 15, while Shadab dismissed the dangerous Najibullah Zadran for 10.

Naseem Shah, meanwhile, returned to the attack and sent back skipper Mohammad Nabi, playing his 100th T20I, for a golden duck.

Ibrahim Zadran fought for Afghanistan with a hard-working 35 but eventually edged one off the impressive Rauf to depart in the 17th over.

Some lusty blows late in the game from Rashid Khan gave Afghanistan something to cheer about, but a total of 129 wasn't something to write home about.

In two of the three matches in the Asia Cup, Afghanistan had struck with a wicket inside the first two overs - snaring three against Sri Lanka in the opening game and one against Bangladesh in their second game.

Here again, they found a way to apply early pressure as Fazalhaq Farooqi sent back skipper Babar Azam for a golden duck. Fakhar Zaman was run out by a brilliant direct hit in the fourth over, and Pakistan sunk further.

Mohammad Rizwan and Iftikhar Ahmed rebuilt, but Rashid Khan took out Rizwan soon after the Powerplay to leave Pakistan in a spot of bother at 45/3.

Afghanistan went on take wickets at regular intervals to push Pakistan out of the game. The promising stand between Iftikhar and Shadab was broken and the likes of Nawaz and Asif Ali failed to deliver as Afghanistan seemed to be cruising to a win.

The wicket of Asif Ali in the penultimate over appeared to be the final nail in the coffin as Pakistan needed 12 runs off 7 balls from thereon.

But a dramatic turnaround saw Naseem Shah blast a six off the first two balls of the final over from Fazalhaq Farooqi, Afghanistan's most impressive bowler of the night.

The back-to-back sixes ensured Pakistan's come-from-behind win, but also signalled the end of India and Afghanistan in the tournament.

India have lost both their Super Four stage matches, meaning that they were reliant on Afghanistan to beat Pakistan to stay alive in the tournament.

Afghanistan, which lost their first game of the Super Four phase to Sri Lanka, also needed a win to keep their chances of making the Asia Cup final still burning.

They were pretty close to sealing a win with an impressive bowling performance, but unlikely hero Naseem snatched victory for Pakistan from the jaws of defeat.

India and Afghanistan are out of the tournament after Pakistan's win on Wednesday.

Pakistan batted poorly.Afghans could have won this but it is lack of experience and mental toughness which lost them the game.Afghans have nothing to lose against big teams so they can come out guns blazing.For Pakistan losing to Afghanistan plays on the mind of the players.Pakistan need to correct their mistakes.Ps Afghan players are very immature,could be due to being new to cricket.They need to respect the game and other teams.

Agreed, winning and losing is part of game, but don't behave like donkey when u dismiss batsmen like the wicket of Asif..
I was ok with Afghanistan winning before that but after that Jahel behavior I wanted pak to win and show their crying faces..
 
Nevertheless it was a fantastic match to watch. Cricket is the winner. Feeling sorry for the Afghanistan brothers. Your team has won our hearts. A great team in the making.

It has been the best Asia cup in history so far. Lots of thrilling encounters.

The vibrant croud, the electrifying atmosphere,the rivalry, nail biting finish ..all are there. Suncontinent cricket has always been the best ,beats trans Tasman ,trans ashes south Africa and carribbean cricket by miles.
 
And with that six Pakistan reach the finals, Afghanistan and India are out and brother @Mamoom has gone back into hiding

Alot of Us are unaware because we dont watch media of other countries on our tv sets. Most of our information of geo politics is through the lens of our own media like geo or ary.

Our establishment is accused by many in international politics to have supported taliban which obviously the afghans dont like since they carry out blasts and attacks in their country. Now its a different story since they are in power. But mostly its because of the accusations that our military supports insurgents in Afghanistan.

Afghanistan are unfortunately still quite an immature team with immature fans. This immaturity and tendency to get over excited has cost them the last four games they have played against us.

They clearly have talent. Just need to learn to calm down and stay grounded until the match is over.

I feel proud of what they have achieved. They used to get defeated easily, but not anymore. In the last 4 matches agaisnt us, they have given us a good fight. They play fearless cricket with a fearless personality.

They are only going to improve from here on forward.

They have to work on few things. Their Batting is pathetic, we played awful cricket by the way it was not very special bowling, .good to see Afghani bothers doing well but as I ma also Afghani by caste, I feel ashmwd the way they abuses our punajbi bothers on social media and I am sure that bowler did it today to Asif Ali.
This should stop.

I'd replace Ifti otherwise not many options.
 
Some Afghan players crying at the end, its only a game and meaningless tamasha trophy at the end of the day for fruit sake. Credit to Shadab for consoling them though.

Still can't get over what Naseem Shah did! The great thing for Pakistan in this tournament, for a change, has been how well the tail has been batting, all the way down to the number 10 and 11. So, this is a good sign.

Some of Shadab Khan`s sixes too off the spinners were brilliant to watch. A very good move to send him higher up the order. He's an intelligent guy and is much more than your average mindless lower-order hitter.

They will eventually beat us, may be they will clam down after their first win. I do not want it to come in a global tournament where in many cases it be a very difficult equation for us after losing to them. Last ODI WC is another example is can think of.

The star batsman stood unbeaten on 122 off 61 deliveries to power India to 212-2 in Dubai after being put into bat first in their last Super Four match following their elimination from the tournament.

Seam bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar then returned his T20 best of five wickets for four runs to help limit Afghanistan to 111-8 with Ibrahim Zadran unbeaten on 64.

But the day belonged to Kohli, who hit a four and a six off pace bowler Fareed Ahmad to reach his first India ton in nearly three years -- his last hundred coming in a Test against Bangladesh.

“The last two and a half years have taught me a lot. I am going to turn 34 in a month (less than two months - November 5)," Kohli told Star Sports after his knock.

He celebrated with a wave of the bat and smile and said: "So those angry celebrations are a thing of the past. Actually I was shocked. This is the last format I thought (of scoring a century). It was an accumulation of a lot of things."

Kohli recently spoke about his mental struggles and how he took a month off ahead of this Asia Cup to get back his intensity, which he "faked" during the dry run of form.

"The team has been open and helpful. I know there was a lot of stuff going outside," he said.

“King Kohli” put on an opening stand of 119 with KL Rahul, who made 62, to lay the foundations of the mammoth total as the Afghan bowlers struggled on their second successive day on the field after a heartbreaking loss to Pakistan on Wednesday.

Kohli registered his third 50-plus score in the event, which serves as a tune-up to the T20 World Cup in October-November in Australia.

Rahul and Kohli took on the opposition bowlers with a flurry of boundaries in the first six overs.

Kohli survived a dropped catch on 28 by Ibrahim in the deep as the ball popped out of the fielder's hands for a six and the star batsman then raised his fifty in 32 balls.

Rahul reached his half-century with two straight boundaries off skipper Mohammad Nabi but fell in the next over.

Fareed broke the century stand and two balls later bowled Suryakumar Yadav for six.

The rest of the innings belonged to Kohli who hit the bowlers to all parts of the ground as he surpassed Pakistan's Mohammad Rizwan as the tournament's leading run-scorer with 276 in five matches.

The 33-year-old Kohli, who smashed 12 fours and six sixes in his dominant knock, has also hit 27 Test and 43 ODI centuries in a stellar career.

The Afghans looked jaded after they went down by one wicket to Pakistan and also crash out of the tournament.

They were lost four wickets for just nine runs in three overs with Kumar ripping through the opposition top-order before Ibrahim carried his bat through and made his team bat 20 overs.

Pakistan will play Sri Lanka on Friday in what will be a dress rehearsal of the title clash on Sunday.
