What's new

Pakistan (206) defeat Netherlands (197) by 9 runs to win the 3rd ODI - Win series by 0-3 margin

Some very ugly and poor batting here. Just shocking how poorly they have scored so late into the game.

I think there's plenty of potential for Mohammad Haris but for now, he needs to go back to domestic and dominate some more in FC & List A. The type of shots he keeps playing are really poor.

I was desperate to see how will Khushdil go about it today....but unfortunately he got run out...

Agree. He has potential but just way too inexperienced. Needs to play more cricket.

Poor batting but, possibly worst of the 3 pitches in the series. Pacers started bowling cutters half way in the innings.

He will put away whatever comes in his small mid wicket arc. Others he will hit straight to the fielders.

Need to get 230 odd from here and that would require some effort considering Babar will have to score most of them

We here are quick to say Nawaz is "far superior" to imad and I hope it's true, but he has to actually show he is anywhere close to him with the bat.

It shows the importance of batting well and aggressively enough to keep the run rate at a good level instead of playing old fashioned low scoring and keeping wickets.

Understandable that Pakistan almost have to bat the way they do due to the poor middle order but they need to tweak their strategy a bit.

Nawaz is better with ball overall especially in middle overs. As a batsman I believe Imad has proven himself at international level and Nawaz other than doing well in few close finishes is yet to prove himself.

While I agree they need to improve but, this series in isolation wont tell much considering the slightly sluggish wickets. Otherwise Pak has been scoring 300 odd consistently in recent times.

At least the low score will make it competitive for the bowlers and make them work hard for it. This is a blessing in disguise.

Good fight by Netherlands

Though the score might already be out of their reach

What a waste of an effort

Should’ve got a hundred at least

Low scoring wicket should be easier for chasing side with no baggage as they know they just need to bat through.

Seems like everything has been stuck on the pitch and nothing is coming onto the bat. Wonder if our bowlers will adapt and bowl a lot more slower & off-cutter balls.

Opportunity for Nawaz & Wasim to come up big here.

Pakistan hardly play ODIs now

Babar had a golden opportunity to overtake Saeed Anwars 20 ODI ton’s record against West Indies and Netherlands

Missed out!

We need to seriously build our middle order in ODIs. Hitters/ rellu kattas won't do.

VRS ground at Amatleveen produced some really good wickets throughout Eng and WI series.

Rotterdam’s pitches since the first one day left a lot to be desired

Haris is way too raw rn. He shouldn't be playing Odis. T20s maybe.

Akram himself is far from ready.

Haider ali and Agha should be given continous chances in ODIs.

Qasim has more composure than all of them. Plus is also a natural middle order batter.

We discarded Haider Ali after 2 Odis. Haris has already played more games.

Give Haider a run at a fixed position and he will show what's he capable of.

He will later this year IA. Arranging ODIs is PCB's job. What can players do when our board is only interested in arranging t20is. A 7 t20i series against England doesn't make sense at all. Could have changed it to 3 ODIs and 3t20is.

Rare winning opportunity here for Netherlands. Hope they dont botch it up today.

Nawaz has improved his power we know that but plays too risky imo. Needs to improve shot selection.

Babar Azam should not be even playing this series. I have never seen any other elite batsman scores these many soft runs. He should have rested and allowed younger players to play. Saeed Anwar's era was different...none of his 20 tons were soft runs.

Who cares if he scores soft runs? He scores real hard runs too when the time comes.

Just checked scorecard, are we really struggling to reach 200 in a 50 ov match against Netherlands or are my eyes deceiving me?

This is very painful.

How can we have come to this point?

Looking like a win for the Dutch and well deserved too. Their bowling has been excellent.

Embarrassing stuff here, the team is full of mediocre bits and pieces players.

Loool. Don't tell me u are actually surprised. U obviously half expected it being a Pakistan fan.

And people keep saying we stuck with the regulars like Rizwan, Imam, etc.

This is your answer when the above don't play...

Normally yes

But minnows are very likely to choke while chasing. They dont have patience to bat long

Not really. It's a pathetic squad selection. They are flooding the team with bits and pieces alternatives. We have better.

I think you are deluding yourself if you think we have better (bar Shaan Masood who should be in the batting line up)...

C'mmon Netherlands...rooting for you. Not bcoz the opposition is Pakistan but it is always good to see as neutral when minnows do well against established sides.

Kept flopping time and time again...

He has just played couple of ODIs tbh. He was expected to be a better longer format player since his younger days and we played him in T20Is mainly. Even chief selector Mohammad Wasim who was his head coach at Northern said that he is a better red ball player.

Grooming players in the right formats is the key I believe. After that they can transition to other formats as well.

I remember they gave us a real scare in 2003 WC. Also beat Eng in 2009 WC

So many years laters, they still are associates level.

ICC has failed to develop these small nations

These 'meaningless games' are tricky. Win it and obviously no one cares. Lose it and all hell breaks loose, and then some.

Shambles.

Absolutely pathetic performance from Pakistan.

Apart from Babar, the rest looked like they were holding a bat for the first time in their life.

Irrespective of the result hopefully management would not be afraid of trying bench strength in future as well. Thats the only way guys will learn. Haris could have been given a number higher than Khushdil I believe but, thats fine.

Lets see how Dahani and Zahid fare

It's once again Babar or nothing.

Just goes on to show the difference of class between him and the rest.

He is well deservingly rated as the best batsman in the world, and Pakistan fans will realise his true value when he will retire.

There is a reason why he bats the way he did today. Indian fans who saw Sachin in the 90s will understand this better.

Hopefully. This is no reason to be afraid.

We just need to plan our bench keeping requirements of team and future in mind.

Yup and it's for player to really get up for a meaningless match and maybe taking it too easy/careless because it's a weak opponent.

We might still win the match as the Dutch struggle with scoring, get out of jail card if we do.

Agha was pretty decent

He is a confident player

Naseem getting better with every outing

2/14 in 5 overs so far vs Netherlands in the 3rd ODI

Top catch from Haris. Coming forward and catching is never easy

Is this mere lack of talent in Pakistan cricket or something else?

Zahid's domestic record is so ordinary!!!
