What's new

Pakistan (208/3) defeat the West Indies (207/3) by seven wickets to wrap up the T20I series 3-0

Another non finish by Rizwan

But tbh, he has made this a cake walk for the remaining 8 players

lol Asif on strike, such a comedy of a batsman... why send him?

they still believe he can hit sixers more than 2...

Sent ahead of Haider Ali :qdkcheeky

Fakhar has been poor this series

What do you expect when accumulators are occupying opening spots

Its intriguing how our batting side looks good on flat Pakistani wickets.

Good performence by Asif Ali for todays game atleast. Rizwan and Babar Partnership was indeed the key difference had early wickets fallen, maybe Pak would have lost this game

Brilliantly chased by Rizwan and Babar. Rizwan is easily the best T20 wicketkeeper batsman in the world. :inti

Problem with Asif Ali is he only knows to play one way.,abit like Afridi. It does not always work.

Karachi surface is pretty much a highway with stumps at either end. bet bowlers hate playing here.

Babar Azam | Pakistan captain: Definitely the plan was to play according to the situation. We thought of managing the run-rate and once we had the momentum, we took off. The effort put in by the seamers in the series has been impressive. It was a chance to test our bench strength today and I'm happy. We are preparing for the T20 World Cup in Australia and the team is giving 100 per cent. The way Rizwan has played throughout the year and the way he has improved his batting - all the youngsters should look at him and take him as a role model.

Nicholas Pooran | West Indies captain: Felt like the last two overs, we lost the momentum. Pakistan bowled well. We were 15 runs short. Most of the guys haven't slept the whole night and I'm very proud of the unit. I want to commend all the guys, we spent the whole day wondering whether we should play this game or not. Lot of positives and a lot of guys took their opportunities. A special bunch of guys and well done to the guys.

Mohammad Rizwan: 207 is a big target, the coach told us to target the circle as the West Indies had done and that was the first target which we achieved. I have focussed better and I don't know how many runs I have got. Thanks to the coaches for the improvement in my all-round game.

Problem with Asif Ali is he only knows to play one way.,abit like Afridi. It does not always work.

Exactly he will not do anything of note for like 9 matches and than 1 match he will be a difference maker. He has the ability to hit big, but needs to still work on his game, if he wants to be a consistent performer for Pakistan

And to think there was a certain lobby and pressure that wanted rizwan gone from the pakistan team and psl.

Thought Dahani bowled brilliantly today. Pace and control. Seems he's put on some lean muscle too. Another good chase. Like the power in the side at 3,4 and 5 with the lower order also able to contribute. Not a bad T20 unit at all. Let's hope we can get it right in the ODI format over the next few series too

Dhani was very impressive today with his bowling. Persisted with full length and back of length was being taken to the cleaners like we saw with Hasnain. Disappointing we didn't see the same adjustment from him and didn't really bowl lines or length that threatened taking wickets.

Great to see how Pakistan continues to chase pretty well and they have chased plenty of high targets this year. Certainly a change considering how Pakistan historically bats while chasing. As much as Babar/Rizwan could stand to do more in the powerplay, they consistently provide the team with enough stability to chase without collapsing and/or going into a shell.

Pakistan pulled It back in the last 2 hours when they were bowling . Dahani was superb throwout his spell.Rizwan,Babar and Asif Ali were excellent.

Excellent performance from us! Really do enjoy watching us play T20is, Babar and Rizwan being the usual guys doing their job properly. If this happens for a few years then they'll be one of the greatest T20 openers in history. An inform Asif Ali is a dangerous prospect in the shorter formats and I do hope he stays at the crease a lot longer in future games.

Pakistan mounted a brilliant chase of 208 in the third and final T20I against the West Indies in Karachi to complete a clean sweep against their opponents.

In spite of the news of the ODI Super League leg of the tour being postponed due to a number of COVID cases, the teams played out a thrilling final T20I in Karachi, with the hosts reaching the lofty target with seven balls to spare.

Pakistan put West Indies in to bat first after winning the toss. Up 2-0 in the series, the hosts decided to rest Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf, with Mohammad Hasnain and Shahnawaz Dahani replacing them. West Indies drafted Darren Bravo and debutant Gudakesh Motie into the XI for Shai Hope and Akeal Hosein, both of whom were out of contention after testing positive for COVID-19.

West Indies got off to flying start, courtesy of Brandon King set the tone for the Powerplay with two boundaries in the first over. He then smashed five boundaries in five consecutive balls that he faced as the Windies raced off to their best start in the series so far.

King sent the ball to the roof of the National Stadium in Karachi off the penultimate delivery of the fielding restrictions but fell off the last ball. Trying to guide a ball that wasn't short enough to third, King had his off stump uprooted by Mohammad Wasim.

Shamarh Brooks too teed off in the ninth over, whacking three sixes in an over off Shadab Khan but holed out in the deep in the very next over one run short of his half-century.

Skipper Nicholas Pooran tonked two sixes after the drinks to signal his intent. He kept dealing in boundaries and soon got to his fifty in just 30 balls. Pooran continued the assault on Pakistan bowlers, smashing a six and a four off Wasim before he was caught at long-on for 64.

Pakistan kept a lid on the scoring in the last two overs, giving away just 13 runs to limit West Indies to 207/3 in their full quota.

In reply, openers Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam would get the hosts off to a perfect start. On a beauty of a batting pitch and with short boundaries, they took the Windies bowlers apart to keep track of the run chase. By the end of the Powerplay, Pakistan's score stood at 60/0 with the West Indies bowlers looking largely ineffective.

The pair would embark on a massive 158-run stand, getting Pakistan closer to the target. Both would bring up their half-centuries and looked all set for a big score.

The first breakthrough for the Windies would come in the form of Babar Azam as Odeon Smith would get his prized scalp. Nonetheless, it was another classy knock of 79 from the Pakistan skipper.

Rizwan was the next one to perish on 87 but Pakistan were extremely close to mounting an exceptional chase. Fakhar Zaman too would walk back for 12 but Asif Ali's cameo of 21 off just 7 deliveries would ensure that the hosts got home with 1.1 overs left in the bank.

With the victory, Pakistan completed a 3-0 whitewash in the series.

WI new look team looks quite exciting. To have the players of ability that WI possess, they might be able to assemble a lethal lineup for t20is.

Last moment of joy for Pak fans for this year.

Onwards to next year for more of the same, Inshallah
