Pakistan (242/7) defeat South Africa (239/9) by 3 wickets in a nail biting encounter to win the 1st ODI

Commies said first 10 overs are crucial on this ground. I have not seeng many matches here. Last time Chasing 280 against India SA did score around 60 runs in 8 overs. They were in the game till 25th over with 7 wickets in hand. Then Markram made a mistake. Then new batsmen could not negotiate the conditions. Ayub is the guy that has to do the job as he has been there from the start. He should have knowledge about pace of the pitch by now.
That's another sign that Pakistan hasn't done any homework / research on the ground or how to go about scoring playing here.

Pak so behind

Just cruel to watch this agha guy technique against pace bowlers. He can only hit boundaries to average spinners

lol @ Saim playing a "bad" innings.

This is not a T20 match where Pakistan is chasing 240.

The chase is in the hands of Saim now, Pakistan goes as far as he takes them.

If he wins the game then it will be a great knock but if we don't win then it will be regarded as a match losing innings.

You can't blame the skipper for his annoyance in such a scenario.

How is it his fault that Babar, Abdullah and Rizwan got out cheaply at a time when the team was not under pressure? I am really curious to hear your reasoning because all I see is utter nonsense.

The only way to chase in modern cricket is to stay ahead of the opposition at the same stage of the match (5,10,15 overs etc)...but that's never the Pakistan way even when you are chasing a low total

You don’t even have to bowl Phelu

You have Rabada, Jansen, Bartman, Shamsi and Markram himself

Phelu messing this game up for SA

It is not necessary all the time. Pakistan still very much in this match but they need a strong finish.

That only worked in the ol' days when you had classy all rounders like Razzaq, Afridi or Azhar Mehmood who would play a blinder now and then...we don't have that anymore

Really Really sloppy stuff by SA

They always have a phase where they let the initiative go
