Pakistan (258/4) go one-up in the 3-match ODI series as they defeat New Zealand (255/9) by 6 wickets

I feel our umpires sometimes go by the strength of the appeal when making these decisions...
 
Fakhar playing Bracewell with relative ease compared to Babar surprisingly
 
Simple question...why couldn't we produce this kind of wicket for our test matches here as the amount of spin here would have been perfect
 
Has anybody seen a more clueless batsman against spin than Fakhar Zaman?

Because it's a used strip. That's what's making it grip as much.
 
With Shaheen and Shadab Pakistan are very good bowling unit. Batting looks great too. Great signs ahead of ODI WC.

Asif Ali.

Fakhar can get bogged down against spin but I've seen him hit Ashwin and Jadeja around in CT17, Shamsi in that 190 vs South Africa etc.
 
NZ likely regretting the decision to not pick Ish Sodhi. Another spinner on this pitch would help NZ quite a bit but instead, it's only Bracewell & Santner Pakistan have to deal with.

Personally, I think they should go with Iftikhar over Agha in ODI's. Iftikhar is just a bit more dynamic and has more power. As a #6, Ifti makes sense since you can shield him against spinner and leave to attack later on in the innings but he is also someone capable of holding the innings if there's a collapse.

Probably a better off-spinner too, to be honest.
 
Fakhar is 48 off 56 balls, many overs bowled by spinners, and posters complaining that he is struggling against spin.

Fair :))) But it's comparing Fakhar to Asif tells you how bad Fakhar is.

Agha has far better temprament than iftikhar. Also agha can play spin well. What is iftikhar’s strength as a batsman?
 
Nice to see Fakhar with a 50 here. Can't believe the selectors considered dropping him based on T20 form.

I've honestly never seen a worse player of spin than Asif. He played Wanindu and Rashid like they were bowling hand grenades.

Fakhar used to murder spin - I don't know what's happened in last 2 years, I remember a stat somewhere showing his declining numbers vs spin.

However he's found a way to grit it to fifty.

Ifti is pretty good vs pacers and can be a big six hitter.

I think it probably depends on what they want. Agha is certainly very good spin and that could prove to be very useful in Indian conditions. But if Pakistan are looking to use him vs spin, they will need to move up the order at #5 to come in & attack spinners like Malik often did.

Another good move by Afridi to bring him in the squad after Sarfraz. Lets hope Haris move pays off,personally I think he may struggle due to poor fitness,and I would prefer Kamran G.
 
Strike rates under 80 for both batsmen. Our batsmen play according to the target. Not according to their talent or the quality of the opposition. Give them 150 to chase and they'll play with a strike rate of 50.

So boring to watch.

what a hack...i dont think it was fluent innings but 50 more than i expected. I still think this will be tight.
 
I mean... you could sense it coming, couldn't you? Blocking everything and then plays the wrong shot to the wrong ball.
 
Seemed like it was on the cards. Fakhar has slowed down big time and was struggling to time after getting into the 40's.
 
It should be Haris coming in now and not Rizwan. Why the infatuation to make him a #4 batsmen when he struggles vs spin?

Rizwan has something to prove here, would've liked Haris here to keep a left-right batting pair.
 
Rizwan has no business being in the ODI squad. He's a mediocre ODI player.

Fakhar has done this countless times. He gets bogged down and then plays a wild shot out of panic/desperation.

It's unbelievable how he hasn't learned from countless such dismissals. Just doesn't get the value of constantly rotating strike.
 
Cant understand the logic. Harris is ideal for 4 position but rizwan lord need to show his fake batting.

Because they know he cannot hit to save his life. Wants to come in when he can take his time, and just go about taking singles.

This move will increase RRR and unnecessarily create pressure on the lower order.
 
Sohail should have been in front of Rizwan. Do they ever learn?

Just need to sort out that one position (of Agha) and ensure Rizwan doesn't bat @4 and we are a great team imo.

Forceful bowling and run machine top order.
 
This match is going to the wire if the dew doesn't come into play.

Rizwan survives on umpire's call.

Pakistan not really putting their players in a position to succeed. You know Rizwan struggles vs spin so why's he sent out there in a turning pitch when their spinners are on. Not to mention you have players in Agha who excel vs spin and should be used in that situation.
 
I remember the ODI's Pakistan played in 2018 vs Ferguson when he was unplayable on those UAE pitches and he just kept bowling is so short over and over again.

Been pacey here but it seems like Pakistani batsmen are enjoying playing him on this pitch instead.

Agha is ok, don't have enough backups for that particular role, only haris sohail must bat above rizwan

Exactly, if they believe Sohail can recreate his performances from the past, then should be 4 as this was his position before.
 
Not a single batsmen comes close to Babar in ODI's. Can play in whatever situation in whatever conditions
