Pakistan (271 & 89) suffer a humiliating 360-run loss to Australia (487 & 233/5d) in the 1st Test match

I'm guessing they will declare halfway into the second session?

This score is already way too much for Pakistan to chase.
 
Australia would be playing it safe and bat till lunch to maximize the target as much as possible. Babar may play a knock of his life in the second innings so they might not be too keen to take a chance with an early declaration.
 
Lead is now 402. Pakistan is more of else out of this match. Draw possible? do they the courage to inflict a draw from here?
 
They might bat an hour after lunch and declare 15 minutes before tea for a crack at Pakistan.

Target would be somewhere between 450-470 runs.
 
Australia will also be mindful of number of overs left not just target. They will have to get their balance right. Giving rest to bowlers, giving enough time to bowlers, giving enough runs to bowlers.
 
That'll be lunch! Australia leading by 402 runs with six wickets in hand.
 
Have a light salad and electrolyte drink and roll them out for under 450.

We are losing only cause of 3 players. Shaheen afridi. Worst bowler factoring in both teams.
I think he is playing with an injury and it's entirely on inept pcb for allowing this to continue.

Then the other 2 players that ruined our chances of making some sort of indent on austrakis near 500 score are tuk tuk babar and sarfraz.

We need dynamic players. Period. Cant have these useless stat padders play.

Also special mention to whichever idiot thought it was a great idea to send in a night watchman.

Pak is already done here. They are not chasing even 300 forget 400 or 450. They should have scored close to 400 in the first innings. Khawaja is the reason Aus is still batting or else they would have declared by now. He's making azhar ali proud lol ! But khurram shehzad and aamer Jamal have bowled well. Way better than Shaheen. Pak should persist with them in odi and t20 - they have aggression and desire. Way better than trundlers like hasan ali - think they are the finds for pak this test. And consider they are making their debuts - makes it pretty impressive.

Cricket is like chess. Game of strategy, tactics and skill. Athleticism is very important for a fast bowler but even that can be neutralised with the right tactical set ups.

Aus batsmen already made our bowlers weary. So now it's just a prolonged beat down.
 
AUstralia would target a lead of 500.

More time they spend batting, better chances for Pakistan to draw the game.
 
Aus will declare midway into this session. Give pak a total of 450. And pak will be bowled out in 3 sessions

Marsh and Usman will get centuries and then the declaration will come I guess. It has been too easy for these batters atm.

This wouldn't have worked if Australia were 50 odd for 4.

Australia have license to attack because they can't lose from this position.
 
Pakistan is up for a mammoth task ahead. Really need nerves of steel to chase it. Best they can do is to draw.
 
It will be a positive if Pakistan can survive the day.

Coming on to the Perth Test not many gave Pakistan a chance to get this Test match into Day 5. So if Pakistan can manage to do that it will be good.
 
I dont think Pakistan can afford to attack with the new ball. There is some uneven bounce and ball will swing.

Pakistan are going to get all out either way. If Pakistan look to play defensively they will have more trouble and potentially will get bowled for less runs. But if Pakistan bats positively they have an outside chance of crossing 300. Which will be a great effort for any visiting them in 4th innings at Perth.
 
Shaheen, Faheem should be replaced by Wasim and Abrar in the nect match. Sarfaraz too if he doesn’t perform in this innings

Pakistan does not have intention to attack so question is moot.
 
Just go for it after 20 overs , if they fluke 300 odd runs batting line up will take alot of confidence to next match.

If they go for the draw they will end up collapsing 200 all out even if they bat till last session tmrw.
 
Pakistan shouldn't be defensive. They have to survive for almost 5 sessions.

Should play positively and hope for the best.

agreed. Nothing really in this pitch still. People are overhyping the Aussie bowlers. It’s the weak minded Pak batsmen making them look better than they are. P much all of our dismissals were down to our own lapse of judgement.
 
if they go for draw they will likely collapse and lose might as well be positive and see what happens
