Pakistan [274/7] defeat South Africa [273/6] by 3 wickets in 1st ODI last-ball thriller

People here rave about De Kock but to me he is nothing player in comparison to Imam. Cricket is not playing few good shots and getting out. We wasted 2020 playing Abid in Odi's and tests. Imam should replace him in both formats

This one's as good as that knock against NZ in the world cup....

As I mentioned around couple of years ago that good players of Pak team lack experience and Pak will become much more competitive in ODIs as players like Babar, Imam, Shaheen start to develop. Rizwan has come back in with the bang as well.

They are still not at their peak but going towards it really well. I am not saying they are going to become a no1 ranked side as that will depend upon the peak and level the mentioned players touch but Pak should be a decent side in ODIs coming years in my opinion.

Good players with impressive records when get the necessary experience, this is what you expect.
 
Well done Babar. Pure class. Only Pakistani batsman who can get into any playing eleven of any team.

Babar still needs to resolve his concentration issues after a break in play.
 
Damn poor shot to end a great innings. At least it’ll give a chance of Rizwan and maybe Danish to get some time in the middle
 
Amazing innings, but this getting out right after 100 will be another proof is match maker not match winner and will never be able to match Kohli greatness. Unfinished job.

A sensible post. I would like to see another spinner tried in place of Shadab.
 
Imam and Sami Aslam -these two could have made a dream opening partnership for Pakistan.

Serious question.Was it really that memorable? Speaking in terms of how much content we are exposed to every day. May be from a Pakistan fan perspective it is.
 
What a lose shot after such a good inning. This is the only problem i see in babar. He becomes sloppy after getting the century
 
Congrats baba on a magical hundred. Wanted to see him tonk them even more after the hundred nevertheless a great show today
 
This was a fabulous knock but Babar has this habit of not finishing the game, this was his chance to score a real daddy hundred, but I'm happy that he has scored a hundred.

De Kock and Fakhar have similar stats yet we endlessly bash fauji.

Good to see Babar being really annoyed with himself. Need to get that ruthless attitude to achieve his full potential.

He has concentration issues, getting out after break
 
Bavuma captaincy maybe an issue. He needs to get the team United. Some of the players may not to be too happy to play under him as a black captain.
 
Time for Imam to score that 100 and help his team move further towards the target.

True. In ODIs as you have much more time you can wait for the poor balls from wrist spinners which can happen often in comparison to T20s where you have to go after the bowler straight away more often than not.
 
To be honest a top order of Rizwan,Imam and Babar looks solid. Pak bowling if it goes back to the high standards it was known for, these guys will knock down run of the mill totals easily without any hiccups.

Absolutely. People just got carried away with the face that Imam is the nephew of Inji. Imam has played in the team purely on merit , as deserving candidate. He is the best opener available for Pakistan in both formats. Pakistan has just wasted 1 year experimenting.
 
Imam’s smile seeing Babar reach his 100 shows how much Imam wanted him to reach that as well.
 
Only issue is Imam eating a lot of balls for his 100. He should probably attack and go for it This is an easiest T20 game from now. 80 runs in 17 overs with 8 wickets in hand.

Rizwan has done well as an opener in T20s. He deserves a chance in ODIs . We don't have many better options . Fakhar isn't the answer anymore

100% Agreed.

Played superbly again as he often does (his record supports that) but he had an opportunity to finish the game here or take it deeper still but goes leaving the door ajar (even if I'm confident in the Pak win from here).

Mind you... Imam has just holed out...
 
Here's a litmus test for Danish. Easy run chase from here on, just got to keep your head and play sensibly.

Who am I kidding, this is Pakistan.
