Pakistan A 14-member squad announced for first four One-Day matches against England Lions

Lahore-November 23, 2018: The national selection committee headed by Inzamam ul Haq has announced the 14-member squad for Pakistan ‘A’ One-Day series against England Lions to be played in the UAE from November 25, 2018.

The squad has been announced for first four matches of five-match series. The squad for fifth One-Day of the series and two-match T-20 series against England Lions will be announced later.

The first two One-Day matches will be played in Dubai on November 25 and 27, 2018. The third and fourth One-Day matches will be played in Abu Dhabi on November 30 and December 2, 2018, respectively. The fifth and final One-Day match of the series will be played in Dubai on December 5, 2018.

Note : Shaan because he was been superb in List A cricket in last 18 Months. Performances which cannot be ignored by selectors.


It seems that Inzamam ul Haq rates Mohammad Saad of Wapda very highly despite Saas failing to score for Pakistan A in last two List A series.

Remember Saad scored runs for Wapda on tough surfaces in last FC Season. (pitched which assist seam, swing, bounch) furthermore it seems that Inzamam wants Saad to succeed for Pakistan A as he has got good temperament and is good playet of backfoot aswell. (Good on Cut, Pull, Hook & back foot punches against Pace)


Inzamam has an eye on Shaan, Abid & Mohammad Saad for SA tour. Also we might see Irfan junior (pacer) make SA Odi tour and may be Test tour aswell.


Also I think that Inzamam ul Haq is going to pick Saud Shakeel for the 3rd Test against NZ. Hopefully InshaAllah. Sarfraz should back Saud Shakeel and I think he would.


Otherwise Saud Shakeel should not miss out on Pakistan A selection.



Ali Imran's selection is a good sign for Zeshan Malik aswell. Zeeshan could also make Pakistan A soon provided he keeps up his performances especially in televised matches.


Ali Imran as per his interview on ptv sports seems educated and intelligent person which is a good thing.

Which board member does Mohammad Saad have incriminating photos of? Terrible stats, and has failed in every 'A' game he's been part of in the last 2 months. Zeeshan Malik and Saud Shakeel are glaring omissions, but hopefully as mentioned by the poster above it could suggest that Saud will be included in the test squad
 
Obsession with Rahat? Is he Inzi's relative? Where is Saud Shakeel?
Inzi can't do 2 things right. 1 good followed by 1 bad

Saud must be included for the third test since he’s not in the A team but Rahat Ali ... seriously
 
Aadil amin averages 45. Abid Ali just scored two back to back centuries in the previous A games. Ali Imran score an attacking century in the televised game, although I agree Zeeshan Malik should have been in his place. M. Saad is the only questionable selection (besides Rahat) but someone mentioned that he has scored on tough pitches and is good on the backfoot. Saud Shakeel will be in the Pakistan team soon. Saad Ali is already witht the test team. Saif Badar has an avg of 28 and is rated only on pp! Hasan Mohsin needs another good season.
 
Again selected test players for the ODI squad, similar to the one day games against NZ A.

Batting

Abid Ali is not a odi player. Similarly, at best, case can be made for M Saad in the test side but not limited overs, he has a ridiculous strike rate of 66 in one day cricket. In place of Abid Ali and M Saad, Zeeshan Malik, SAud Shakeel, and Saif Badar could have been considered. Saud Shakeel may be considered for senior team I feel if he has been dropped here. But Pak doesn't play ODI matches against SA till next year so it is really strange.

Bowlers

Again, it boggles my mind that Rahat Ali has been selected. Someone young like Sameen Gul or Musa could have been selected. Zohaib Khan is 35 years of age, why not select Kamran Ghulam. Fianlly, no idea about Aashiq Ali. His stats are pretty average.


Apart from Abid Ali, M Saad, Rahat Ali, Zohaib Khan, and Aashiq Ali, rest of the squad is ok.

Agree with you mostly here. Said Badar needs to play 1-2 seasons to prop up his stats. Right now, his stats are mediocre and he is only a darling of PP experts. Zeehsan Malik has played less than 15 odis and unless he is then next Babar Azam, he needs time too.

M Saad and Rahat are two glaring mistakes in this squad I feel.

Saif Badar needs time but his current stats are from mostly batting at # 7-9.

what about Rahat ali??! Over all very very poor squad and I hope Saud missed out because of him being included for 3rd test
 
Why do people think that Saud Shakeel will be picked for 3rd test ? Who will he play in place of ? There is Saad Ali already waiting for his chance. I think it is a wishful thinking that Saud'll play 3rd test. Don't set yourself up for the disappointment.
 
Poor squad - Rahat? Waqas? Abid? Saad? Even Zhoaib's time has passed. Should have picked Umar (Akmal) & Maqsood here, among bowlers, Gohar & Ghulam.

Inzi can improve his image lot, if it's a case of Saud missing out for being selected for the 3rd Test squad, which I don't think is the case. I don't think, playing Saud for A team in List A helps the cause of Imam, and Ul Haq does know his cricket. My hunch is, the reason will be given is "he was considered", which is a bull sh!t - no point considering a young player for 16th man role and technically denying him an opportunity to push his cause further. Saud is more of an ODI contender, rather than Test and they have dropped him for List A leg of the tour ............ and, I know Inzi does understand every word that I have written here.

I hope, I am proven wrong & Saud is kept with 2nd Test squad (no point sending him back to PAK for few days, if they are to pick him for 3rd Test squad).

Saud Shakeel will play in emerging asia cup along with other u-23 talented player s. Probably he will be captian of the side.
 
I don't understand why he is picking players who have played a lot of games for us at international level. Rahat Ali won't play ODIs for Pakistan so why select him? Surely there are bowlers on domestic who are young and have more potential than him.
 
The emerging Asia cup starts in December so maybe thats why many of young players such as Saud, Kamran Ghulam, Zeeshan, Saif are not in this squad.
 
This looks worse than usual. Would think they’d want to try players that should/could be considered for the WC and that’s really all on the batting front - Hussain Talal, Asif Ali, Sahabzada, Saud? Seems like Rizwan is the only bat selected who could be in the running. Missed opportunity.
 
This is disappointing and unjustifiable . They are trying to make Saud look good for tests only.. Although we are in dire need of good batsmen more for our ODI team considering CWC around the corner.
 
I see 50/4 and 130 all out type of scores from this team. The team is heavily reliant on openers with nothing on offer from the middle order. Future of batting is looking bleak.

Very poor squad, can someone please find out from the selectors what is the criteria for the selection, with so many deserving players not get selected this will be harmful for Pakistan cricket.

Amir Yamin, Sauid Shakeel, S. Ali, karman Ghulam, Salaman Agha, Hussain Talat, Mohammad Asgar, Zafar Gohar, Hasan Mohsin, Taj Wali, M.Hasan, Umar Siddique, Zain Abbas etc we should have invested in these kind of players especially when the world cup is around the corner, what is Rahit Ali doing in the A team? Need 2 check his record what has he done to get into A team @ age of **??? Inzamam-Ul-Haq please provide answers
 
Selection committee should all be accountable for each selection and final report should be submitted by the chairman of selector highlighting on what basis squad has been selected.

Honesty this has to be one of the really bad selection made by Mr Inzamam-Ul-Haq, normally we can let 1 or 2 bad selection unfortunately about over 10 bad selection made.
 
Brother Saj, can you please feed this to Eshan Mani. Action should be taken otherwise you could see these players representing us in the world cup, players like Fawad Alam is not getting any opportunities whereas Asad Shafiq continue to hold on to his place whether he is performing or not.
 
All selection should be made on merit not on any other criteria. At this rate we could see Rahit Ali playing his 2nd world cup after brilliant performance his given in 2015 w.cup and he clearly not one day bowler who can't bad or field either so as Mr Inzamam-Ul-Haq is chairman of selector he should be selecting team on merit not on links & pressure from certain groups. New chairman should be monitoring what's going on as everyone is responsible for their actions & performance.
