Pakistan 15-member squad for T-20I series against Scotland

Lahore-June 4, 2018: The National Selection Committee headed by Inzamam ul Haq after consultation with Captain Sarfraz Ahmed and Head Coach Mickey Arthur has announced the 15-member T20 squad for the two-match series against Scotland. The two-match T-20I series will be played on June 12 and 13, 2018, respectively.

The T-20I squad from West Indies series has been retained other than Babar Azam who got injured during the first Test match against England at Lord’s. Babar Azam has been replaced by Haris Sohail in the 15-member squad for Scotland series.

Playing such a strong team against Scotland as if it's a WT20 match is just embarrassing. These players won't improve from playing against genuine minnows like Scotland (with all due respect to the Scots), all it does is increase the potential of more injuries and fatigue these players unnecessarily subject too.

The likes of Fakhar, Sarfraz, Amir, Hassan Ali and perhaps a few others should have been rested. It would have been nice for an upcoming captain in the future (like Shadab) captaining the side, so not only we can test our bench strength but also our see who is perhaps leadership material.

No wonder PCB's succession planning is so poor. You would never see a first team or even of the regulars from the likes of Aus, Ind, England, South Africa and New Zealand. Even Sri Lanka wouldn't play its strongest side. This echoes a team with a small mentality once again.

We are complaining about return of Kamran and Hafeez, but when its come to Shehzad and Rahat it is even worse. Don't know how Rahat and Shehzad keep getting selected despite their poor performances unless they have strong backup from PCB officials

Ahmed is a bit surprise, but Rahat got the nod (probably) for his PSL performance. I think PCB takes T20 too seriously than it should be, otherwise no explanation why Amir & Hasan should be bothered for this series. It might happen that Amir won’t play & they are keeping him with squad under Mahmood/Arthur; but these 2 pacers shouldn’t have been bothered at all.

How does Shehzad keep finding a place in any squad despite continuous and consistent failures?

Frankly, it doesn't make sense to even go with a full strength squad against such an opponent. It would be nice to give some younger inexperienced guys like Saad Ali a call up for such occasions.

Expected full strength Squad. It'd be nice to try out more youngsters, but on the other hand good to stick with the same guys to build form. Creates a more stable atmosphere. Not surprised Haris is in it since Babar's injured, they could have picked a newer guy instead but there aren't many that stand out domestically atm. Farhan was definitely a shout, but he didn't look to impressive in the PSL. Most of the guys performing are older openers like Kamran (at a stretch Khurram but more due to list A exploits). Maybe Maqsood, he did alright in PSL, but again that's it.
