One of only three people who actually merits a place in the team. Others need to be booted pretty quickly, and pretty soon. Abbas looks and sounds good. But he cannot be the strike bowler. A blunt Abbas, no-show Naseem and Yasir mean Shaheen has to bowl long spells and also be the strike bowler.
Haris never had the temperament. The only format he should have played was the ODIs -- given he is neither solid in defence nor quick in scoring. I pointed out yesterday that Haris is going to nick one to the slip (or gully) and he stayed true to that. Goes to show that he has not worked on his weakness at all.

Abbas should be our third seamer , we need to find a pace partner for Shaheen. I believe Hasnain has those traits with his height and pace. Once we have the ideal foil for Shaheen, we can look at phasing out Abbas.

Husnain isn't ready for Test cricket...
That’s the thing. SSA needs a strike partner. Abbas is OK as a third seamer but not as the primary strike partner.
Do we not have any good finger spinners or tall off-spinners with good control? The fourth bowler has been missing in action for a while.

I hope they bowl short at Faheem, he seems more confident pulling and hooking than driving the bowl
Raining with Olay
How much more we need to avoid follow on?
Can we please play this team in the next test.
Shan
Rohail Nazir
Azhar
Babar if fit
Fawad
Harris sohail
Rizwan
Ammad butt
Shaheen
Hasnain
Naseem shah if fit
Bad timing. Faheem just started smashing the Kiwis bowlers.
just need two days of rain
Avoiding follow on should have been the target instead of surviving the day. I don’t like when Pakistan plays defensive cricket. They are not known for that, but since Misbah took over as Captain and Now coach we have become a joke of a team.
This is exactly right.
The captain or the leader ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS has a trickle down effect on those under his command.
Our Captain is not leader, yes coach, yes woh azhar bhai and yes shafiq bhai is
Posters written off whole team but not sir shaan masood bradman why ????

These little rain breaks are helping kiwi course big time. Freshening up the wicket and allowing pacers to rest in between. I think, if possible Kiwis will I force the follow-on now.
There no rain forecast for the next 2 days looks like 180-200 overs and 14 wickets in hand to grind out a draw.
Azhar Ali is finished and has been for a while now. Haris Sohail does not have the confidence or temperament. Both should be discarded.
Ok, so we should try.to stretch this innings out and avoid follow on. Let's say around 255 all out in 120 overs. That leaves about 130 overs left (I'm assuming rest of today rains out). NZ will probably look to bat about 50-60 overs to post a quick total to defend. That leaves us about 80-90 overs to bat out a draw. Of course, we must avoid the follow on, that's the most important thing.
S khan, Imran butt, omiar yousaf , haider ali and A shafique miles better than this hackShan se koi behtar hai opener. Answer is No we dont have a choice, because we never wanted to have a choice.
Faheem showing his batting skills![]()
Quite a decent fight back against old ball, but PAK scored too slowly & lost too many wickets early - now the second ball is due in few overs, probably PAK won't reach 232.
NZ won't be enforcing the follow on anyway. They don't want to be batting last on this wicket.
Poor stuff from Jamieson. You're supposed to throw the ball at the stumps, not the batsman. Clown
The way Faheem and Rizwan have batted shows the flaw in the Azhar Ali/Fawad Alam approach. If you actually try to score runs instead of just standing there, the bowlers lose their rhythm and make mistakes.
32 overs more left in the day , these two should keep their eyes on that.
how much to avoid follow on?
