What's new

Pakistan bowled out for 239 at Stumps on Day 3 thanks to fightback by Faheem (91) and Rizwan (71)

Good on you Rizwan. Good character larkay.

Decent in AUS, ENG and NZD. All of these first tours. Lots of room for improvement and thankfully has the hunger and character to want to improve.

The way Faheem and Rizwan have batted shows the flaw in the Azhar Ali/Fawad Alam approach. If you actually try to score runs instead of just standing there, the bowlers lose their rhythm and make mistakes.

Misbah induced defensive attitude in Azhar Ali who is naturally defensive is destructive.

Big man Rizwan is playing nicely. Wish I could say the same about the rest of our top order

For the nth time, the batsmen job being done by the keeper, all rounder and the tail.

Shows you why Afridi used to be the most criticised Pak player despite batting at 6/7. Expectations from top five are always non existent and its only a bonus if they manage to score something.

A mythical theory in Pakistan dressing room is to blunt the new ball.....and then get out.

Faheem sobers has sealed his spot in the test team for the next two years

TBF he had a pretty decent test series against England in 2018 then was randomly dropped. If anything he has been treated unfairly when it comes to test cricket.

Boult has not had a good summer, he's fallen behind Southee when they were pretty neck and neck wicket wise.

Boult's average isn't that far behind than Southee's now either.

Anyone else paying attention to the communication between Rizwan and Faheem between deliveries?

Rizwan was lucky there.
Rizwan giving batting lessons to Faheem but needs to be careful now with new ball and two master bowlers on either end.

Really impressed by Faheem. Deserves a proper run in test cricket. Depending on the conditions he can bat at 7 or 8.

Faheem looks a changed batsman since National T20 2020

He was always a better longer format batsman as his FC avg of 30 and 2 100s showed vs average in teens in white ball formats. We fans often confuse formats. One knock in CT 17 warm up match showed him as a destructive hitter which he definitely wasnt. Yes he can hit few here and there in white ball cricket but, will need to develop his game to be consistent in terms of hitting.

Fantastic effort by Faheem - credit must be given. He actually has bowled well enough to be considered 2nd seemer on turning track. It'll be an achievement if PAK can save the follow-on.

He has worked on his technique as pointed out by Muhammad Yousuf in his recent interview

Thats great. He must have but even before today only decent innings or two he has played has been in few matches of test cricket he played.

Never seen our batting lineup this thin . We lost the match even before the first bowl.
Azhar, Haris, Abid, Walking Wickets.
And no extra batsman.

If MoYo can help sort out the techniques of some of the people coming through the ranks, PAK will benefit quite a lot. Possibly PAK’s most orthodox bat over the last 20 years.

With Faheem securing All rounder spot for next match question remains which one of the two pacers, Abbas or Nasim, would be replaced to add more of wicket taking threat. I would replace Nasim as he is too raw atm.

Okay, I was talking about his overall game.

Well done Muhammad Yousuf

Unlucky run out but well done Rizwan. Made us proud!

What a crazy run was that? Why would you attempt it? This is a test match not a t20 you stoopid

Not surprised at the run out. Another gift of the hidden talents we possess. Fat man Yasir is in.

Definitely credit where its due. You also showed pics how Khusdil’s backlift changed in last year or so. Some young batsmen are also showing some pretty good backlifts so Yousuf might have a role in all these small adjustments.

I tuned out for some time during which they struck this hundred run partnership. I tuned in and got Rizwan run out. I’ll see you people tomorrow.

All of a sudden the word unlucky is being thrown around the forum. I would change that with stupidity.

Our players think opposition has the same game alertiness, quickness and reactions that they have.

100 was there for the taking, also a chance to save the follow on and perhaps a game too .. why Rizwan why ?

It was silly to take second run but unlucky in sense that it was a direct hit.
I don't expect Yasir to last too long with new ball as he takes a lot of chances.

Pakistan should look to save the follow-on. NZ will be forced to bat atleast two sessions then.

That dismissal would hurt Misbah the most. Needed cheap runs from Yasir to keep his place.

But Pakistan scored 200 so ballay ballay.
