What's new

Pakistan bowled out for 294, stretch match into Day 4, set South Africa target of 41 to win 2nd Test

No one is my boy in this team. These are all third rate cricketers benefiting from the dearth of talent in the country.

My point is that Imam is not doing any worse than other players. People need to end this witch-hunt because of his Inzamam connection.

Any other chief selector would have picked Abid instead of Imam for this tour especially after his pathetic failures. Also the way Inzi announced SA squad in the middle of last innings was 100% planned. If he had waited a day Imam selection would have been much harder.

It is time to bring Umar Akmal back to the test set up batting at 5/6 if he is fit. Shafiq should never have been the long term investment at his expense.

Amir needs to learn to duck?

So what are the optimists hoping for now? Amir gets a 30-40 while Babar scores a hundred. We set a target of 120-130 and bundle South Africa out after an inspired spell from our bowlers?

But they just need to show some fight and some hope.

Why build such momentum and then get out?
Set batsmen getting out and then the newbies failing.
Just so annoying.

Absolutely no comparison. UV was a proper batsman with brilliant shot making ability through off side. He was probably the most dominant player in that Indian batting on front foot along with Sehwag and a fantastic demolisher of spin. His problem was temperamental.

FZ is an absolute slogger - and his balance while playing shot is worse than tail Enders. Temperament (or lack of it) is something associated with batsmen who looses focus after sometimes, like Umar Akmal.... FZ is a hack.

babajee, this time I am using the word hack (last time didn’t but accused) - hope you won’t mind.

Sarfraz back to usual. 3rd PAK batsman out for 6.

Thank you. Call him a hack as much as you like. :)

I hope thats the last we see of sarfraz as a test player. Pathetic inns again.

These umpires are a sham. Literally.

This again was clearly benefit of doubt to the batsman decision no matter what the hawkeye says. He gave Shan out when the ball was clearly heading down leg.

What I don't get is why does the inconsistency in umpiring only emerge when we are batting? Bavuma, not out. Faf notout. Sarfraz. Out. Shan out.

Shafiq has been much better than Azhar since the retirement of Younis and Misbah. However, people are more keen to his back.

Both Azhar and Shafiq need to go, but looks like the selector has their back and certain posters have selectors back. According to you we don't have a talent pool at all. Shan Masood the product of that system is scoring more than these seniors on this tour.

Both have shameful stats for a senior test player since Younis-Misbah retires. Asad is under 35, azhar is 27.8. Younger players were dropped from the team for averaging in this 25-35 average range yet these leeches are holding on due to connections.

He might have been slightly unlucky, but he should not be missing that.

Nothing unlucky in that - in Test, you should expect such balls. It seemed kept a little low, because he went forward to a wrong ball and pushed at it, instead of waiting for the ball to come onto bat - then missed line.

Unlucky may be that umpire could have given BoD and DRS would have saved him; but such ugly batting doesn’t deserve any sympathy from umpire.

Who’s in for an Amir special?

Century coming up for him.

Lets hope hope and hope...

For this reasons. I want Umpire's call to be removed. Give all decisions out if it's hitting just 1% of ball

We messed up big time in first innings so this performance was okay
We had lost the game already it was just practice for our batters

Why should we listen to you over hawkeye?

Umpiring has been sh*t-like on this tour, biased and one-sided favoring South Africans but are batsman with the bat and in the field overshadowed them. This era is still better than the 70s when umpiring was ridiculous. Pak team staff need to find a way to condition bowlers to pick themselves up after a bad decision, there shoulders should'nt go down.

Really Poor from Amir, don’t understand why he was adamant to play those, those should had been ducked.

🙄🙄🙄

With Sarfaraz in the team we are dead sure of not winning the world cup. Without him there might be a chance. Upto you now what u wanna take.... Might or no chance at all

Sarfraz should retire however this was a poor umpiring decision. When you look at how high it hit him, there has to be some doubt whether that would hit the stumps. This is just trigger happy umpiring.

A ball that would've gone on to hit the stumps and hit the batsman in line (and didn't pitch outside leg) being given out LBW can't be a poor decision.

Steyn celebrating Amir's wicket. Lel

I hope Amir bowls short picth to the tail enders like the saffers have done.

That ugly crouch is getting worse and worse.

Only Yasir can win this game for Pak. now. If he scores a fifty and gets fifer then it is possible. But I doubt it obviously.

Pretty sure all fast bowlers attempt bouncers. India did not allow Bumrah/Shami to bat 3 innings in a row because of this.

Innings defeat coming in. Unless Babar plays like 1st innings.

Look if I was an umpire and I can see where that his hit Sarfraz, there is doubt for sure. These decisions shouldn't be given. It's one of the drawbacks of DRS where in cases like this some batsmen will inevitably become a victim of trigger happy umpiring.

I'm not defending Sarfraz in any way whatsoever, he should have hit that and ultimately he needs to retire but in my opinion it was a poor decision.

Classless from Saffers to bowl body line to tail enders knowing that they dont have the skills and can get hurt.

People are right in pointing out that we have done better than expected in this innings, but I think that a lot of people were prepared for a fluke partnership to raise our hopes temporarily.

Instead of getting hurt and be absent from next match these tailenders should give up their wickets
There is nothing much left to achieve anyway

A good performance is not a fluke.

Some fans on here were talking of huge leads, i said in last session lets see if we can make it till end of day without collapse and we have folded again.

Clearly the umpire didn't doubt whether it was hitting the stumps and the technology backed him up in showing that it was hitting.

The delivery met all the criteria for an LBW and the umpire made a good correct decision.
